For any D & E racers I did post on PSN my latest time trial in the Yaris at Sarthe. I have been trying to get the qualification time below 4:50 and believe I am almost there. I posted because it is easier for me to compare my driving against "like" times than comparing against the aliens posting 4:36-4:38 laps. Maybe it will help you too.

Under replays:
Search for FRANCE, SARTHE
Look for the Irish flag, replay is titled "Yaris at Sarthe Time Trial" (used my alt account for posting this).

I know the driving is questionable (per alien standards) but it is getting better and times are dropping.

I have raced a few races so far and this combination is awesome! I have finally gotten used to the Yaris butt wiggle and been able to drive with it. If I can get my time down I believe I might get higher up in the starting grid and be competitive (still looking for my first top 5).

Enjoy your racing!

On another note: more in line with this threads topic, who else is not able to get a single clean lap around Le Mans with the Yaris? I am using ghosts and turned the drive lines on, yet still cannot get a single lap timed.
At that track, and with that car, braking a little bit too early is a very minor problem.
99% of the major problems I've had in qualifying, have been from not braking early enough.
Try a lap where you brake just a little sooner than you have been.
It sounds weird, but more brakes will make you faster. 👍

I brake at the board before the normal brake zone, with BB at 4

cheers

on QT I get a theoretical min below 4.50 but cannot put it together. I seem to lose 1.5s either in the first or second half, I'm stuck at 4.51

the Yaris is awful under braking
I really wish they had given us a car more appropriate to the track like the Sauber or R390

Now I have to admit braking is a pain with this car/tire combination so I cheated by putting on the brake warning indicator and started braking when it starts flashing. Normally I rely on visual cues or the cones but the cones were too late for me so had to figure something out quickly. It is working so far. Ahh the Sauber, ran that a few weeks ago in some daily and loved the practice sessions/race with that car.

Cheers will check it out, my time is about the same 4:50:188 is my best so I might pick up something from you as I should be able to always see you and see where I'm faster and slower.

Race b has been an sr killer for me. It’s friggin bumper cars out there with the killer speeds and everyone bouncing off walls into one another (as if we don’t need anymore help wrecking each other). Sunk my rating from B/S to D/D in about 2 hours time. I must admit it’s a fun race tho.

race c is where it’s at IMHO. Still learning the fast super gt cars, but the racing is still surprisingly tight for how long the race is. Fuji is one of my favorite courses too, so that helps with the fun. I feel like I’ve finally got my wheel and pedal settings dialed after 4 months.....so hopefully I’ll start getting in some good laps.

I think it’s time to set up an alt account. What do I need to do?...just create a new email?

Here's a lap I did a little while ago. It's pretty good, but not any kind of alien-level craziness.
Everyone has noticed that the car gets squirrely in the braking zones. I use it to my advantage.
As I'm about to enter the chicanes, at 1:20 & 1:59, you'll see that I release the brakes to give the car a little extra rotation. Don't steer the car all the way through there. If you do, you'll end up rotating too much, once you release your brakes. Then the car goes into a skid, and you'll lose a second at each of those chicanes.
Don't pay any attention to shift points. I'm using A/T.
When the ABS light is flashing, that's just me tapping the square button. If you use pedals, I guess that's when you would do partial braking.

What a hard hard road it's been... And it's just Wednesday morning for me!

This week's Dailies have made me change my outro message from "That means, 'I love you!'."(in reference to my intro Eep! Opp! Ork! Ah-Ah!" greeting) to "Race craft and clean racing. Priority #1".

I see people doing whatever it takes to make a pass on the outside rather than holding station and setting up a pass later on. People knowing the strengths of their car, but not acknowledging the weaknesses.

Again with the placing me amongst players who are a couple seconds slower than my qualy times. I've won 8 races in a row, combining Race A and Race B. I finished 2nd after starting 18th in Race C. That was with the winner pitting and me having to fight/navigate a majority GT-R elitest field, who felt they all owned the track.

My very last race in Race B, I finished 3rd. I battled five, count 'em, five F1s at the start behind me. Each time I started on pole, I held my line and let P2 pass and I got right behind. Every race.

Now that players kind of saw my pattern of gentlemaness, they saw it as a weakness. So, at T1, they pounce to upset my car's braking. Pounce to upset my acceleration speed. But I maintained my composure.
I wanted that CRB. I was at A/B and after 7 hard races, I'm sitting at A/A. I think this will be the one race to bump me back up to A/S.

Those F1s can't handle for crap. I have to release the throttle near slow down for them to navigate any part of the circuit with a curve. I pass two knuckleheads on Lap 2. The once P2 F1 checks out because it left two F1s for to occupy myself with. That leader still still hitting the walls after three races. If only they understood the that car has to be slowed in the corners.

Anyway, the end result was me holding station behind the P2 F1 and getting that blue S in the results screen. Job done and I'm ready for tonight's Manu at BMB.

My issue with trying to race and losing SR, especially last week, is guys actually otherwise clean but not picking a line under brakes. It happened a few times where the other driver takes say the inside to defend so i will take the outside looking for a fast exit but at the absolute last moment he takes the wide line. I have nowhere to go at that point as i have committed to my line. I find this the most common error by guys who are otherwise clean and maybe are not motorsport nerds.

You can see it here, the race winning pass on lap 2, I was just trying to pass the blue car but the white car pulled back tot he wide line at the absolute last milli-second and I saw the door open on this occasion. If I was out wide I would have collected him.

Track limits at Le Sarthe are notoriously iffy and brutal. I struggle when pushing the limits hard, but that car drives like no other. I treat it like one of the death trap 911s. Lift on the gas for a hair before braking. Dont attempt to turn while braking, only straight line braking. Easy on the throttle while turning and gentle turns when possible. Especially for the chicanes, Mulsanne and Indianapolis, keep it in 3rd.

I'm also running BB -2 max as anything more and it won't turn, anything to the rear and I do donuts. Just practice a few slow laps trying to be smooth through the turns to get an idea of the safer speed. I still had half my laps invalidated or slowed due to penalties. Sometimes from sliding sideways when I turn it just a touch too much. This car really punishes you.

It's one of the worst things about racing on GTSport... even with a room full of A/S players, the concept that it's ok to block in the braking zones ruins the racing on many occasions. It's too bad that PD can't put an algorithm in the game that penalizes people for doing that. It'd be easy enough, actually, to define where the entry points are and whether someone moved from one line to the other after the fact.

You can be sure that there are a mix of legitimately ignorant racers that think 'that's racing' and others who know the rules but would rather win ugly/dirty than to race clean. (and as NevileNobody says, some that don't know they are doing it.) Either way, I've been part of dozens of races where the racing was ruined and not fair because of people doing it. On exit as well... blocking on exit, knowing that the other guy is the one that gets a penalty if you're run off the track, totally unsporting, unallowed IRL, and not fun to race against.

Down to Sr 1 now. I think this is what we're supposed to do at that level.

Love Race A, but now my SR is E. People seem to be cutting the first 2-3 corners or outright ramming everyone. Track limits are weird on this track.
Still see some good people with SR E that I know race clean, so its not all bad.

Using BB -2, just need to brake in a straight line and add gas when it sways a bit.

There are 2 reasons why I've never done the handbrake celebration spin across the finish line.
1. It's not my style to show up my opponents.
2....... well, you'll see

This is a video clip that everybody on the planet, except for one person, should find humorous.

Daily race B kicked my ass people just use you as a air cushion instead of hitting the walls

So Tokyo (all of the variations) seem to be rough on penalties and I will stick with A & C (this race is giving away DR here). Are you suggesting that side contact penalties are turned off? I would seem to me that racers should get an orange down check/penalty even if they use another car to bounce off of instead of the wall. Another PD race setup mistake?

Ah the Yaris. I think the handling issue with it is that it has been BOP'd.
I did a practice race for the nations and the car was in its natural state. It was an absolute pleasure to drive. Probably the best hatchback I've driven in game.
Tried a practice under the BOP settings and it's the rodeo bull. Certainly a difficult car to reign in and combined with looking out for other drivers it can be a deadly combo.
Followed up my win with a DFL. The car today decided to be attracted towards the barrier at every braking zone.

The horror... I spent several months to climb out of DR B and go to DR A; I could only imagine how I'd feel if one very unfortunate race destroyed all of my progress... :scared:

No Daily Races for me this week? I've only practiced a few laps with Race A, but sounds like A = Asinine this week according to a lot of race reports I've been seeing. Oh well, can always practice for the upcoming Nations Cup race!

I’m not sure A will be for me this week. I spent quite a while bouncing between D E and B B before hitting a couple good dailies for me and going almost back to A plus. Also I wanna race Panorama Nations if I am home.
A seems not worth it. B my reaction is ‘as if’. C is a “yeah right”
I remember all too well the nightmare that exists in every race below A sr at all levels.
You just end up in time out.
A good tip is if you get to D orC on sr it’s faster to just go full apocalypse to D E then get a crb on a C race first race back for the bonus SR score.
Often it’s 2 crb to get back to mid B.
I’m to a point where I’m back where I was when I began the game which is stay clean!
If you need revenge badly make it hurt. Once...once...then back to 99...

Reason 3: It causes a yellow flag which stops people behind being able to pass on the final turn/straight.

What's the problem with celebrating? He was obviously really happy with his 2nd place.

Your instinct is correct.
If your ratings are important to you, and unless you know you're gonna have the pole position, don't go there.
It's a nasty situation. :scared:

I've always had this hate on for one particular driver, he is a touch quicker than ne but we have raced many times and I always find him sneaky dirty.

Race b, pressured him into a last lap wall scrape and penalty and he sits right on the racing line up that blind gill towards the last turn, I jonk to avoid him and miss my braking point. Cue 4 car pile up and I finish 4th after a certain 1st. POS.
