Having little to no penalty system does not work at my level of driving, just did my first race B of the week, it should be an enjoyable affair but I got sideswiped and 'push-passed' more times than I care to remember.

Probably fine to turn it off at A+ but I think lower lobbies than that need something in place.

I rarely moaned about the penalty system previously, the DR downs were the main problem in my eyes.
There's no reward for driving clean so I might as well go out and push-pass everyone

Yea I think you hit the nail on the head, I expect it's not as bad higher up the DR scale.

I understand wanting to have clean races, and be respectful. Those are the most enjoyable races.
However, if someone hits your car to take your position, there's nothing wrong with doing the same to them.
Maybe even give them a second chance if you're not sure it was intentional.
I know there are lots of people who are not willing to "even the score", and this current system will never work out for them.

Its tough to explain but I actually think that the new penalty system has made for better racing....no not better...more competitive. Does that make any sense? Or am I crazy?

Its allowing the poorer drivers to be more competitive, to me there are more cars in play in any given race. The field isn't as spread out. It is laughable from a "proper racing" perspective and frustrating when all one wants is a fun, clean race though. I compare it to 2 sports teams, one superior to the other but the other is dirty and therefore makes the game closer than it should be....but in the end, the better (skilled) team wins.

If I could snap my fingers and change it back I would, although somewhere in the middle would be ideal. But there is no question the vibe is much different since the change...I'm not convinced its worse.

I've been racing B and C and enjoying both more than I though I would....probably a dozen races each. C is especially crazy though. One race last night I started P8 and after turn 2, I was 20th lol, ended up finishing 8th... I had a blast in the race. I'm not a dirty racer at all, but I do find it somewhat rewarding and it is fun dealing with the idiots by just trying to be a better driver. Go onto the races expecting the worse, that way you won't be disappointed when **** hits the fan lol.

Ifs and buts for everything, I've found that on quite a few occasions that being hit whilst losing a position often results on being knocked off track, particularly for race c. Very small chance after that of catching the perpetrator.

Disastrous night last night. 3000 DR lost! Stupidly kept thinking race A might be fun and every time I got punted into Neverland at turn 1 at some point. DFL each time.

Did one race C but I don't know Autopolis at all and I'm a long way off the pace there at the moment. DFL by miles!

Race B is more promising. Can at least get in the mix there. Went from 16th to 10th in my one try.

FIA this evening then some practice laps of Autopolis

This is my first time at Autopolis other than some trial laps. It has taken a while to get up to speed. My next stop is the Circuit Experience as I have not figured out the last sector. I like it.

No clean race yet. I have made my own mistakes but in one a guy just pushed me off the track with force (pit maneuver?). We were on the front straight side by side. And I have no history with the guy. No penalty.

Twice, I have slammed the wall on pit-entry. Need to practice that one. Ouch!

I saw this map... https://cdn1.snaplap.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/18210856/AutopolisCircuit_map_1.jpg.

It looks like the circuit was created with a protractor and a ruler. If the map is to believed (all measured Radii) all of the corners are roughly circular and it feels that way.

I wholly agree, just in a 4 lap race there’s high potential you won’t see them again.

I’ve finished my tantrum now, had another go at race B and it was competitve and clean, so enjoyable. I guess it can still come down to the luck of the draw so maybe I overreacted a little.

I tend to spend more time practising/time trialling so I want my foray in to the races to be as enjoyable as possible, I feel like there can be a happy medium between the two recent attempts on penalty systems that would satisfy most.

Regardless, hope everyone on here is enjoying their races!

I'm guessing PD, because of all the complaints regarding the penalty system has decided just to let us duke it out .I'm thinking FIA races are going to get more popular and most of the daily races will be done on alternate accounts .If PD wants us to police ourselves.......WELL THERE IS A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

Isn't it bizarre though, that when you do this, they then spend the rest of the race behind you, flashing their headlights!

Oh, and then they call you dirty in the post-race chat.....

I had a great race this afternoon. Saw some friends. I didn't mess up this time.

I confess lately I haven't been taking my competition as serious as I should. Thinking I could just go in and race. Forgetting how high the bar is. Earlier races in the week I messed up just enough to take myself out. Today I did some laps in the morning but didn't race till I felt prime. And it made a huge difference in alertness.

It's not like I won the race. I finished 8th or something. But only 4 seconds behind the winner with a car on my rear bumper. :)

Yeah, but then I push forward, ultra aggressive, and tell them I'll be glad to hit them again.
Usually, I don't have problems, when I let them know know that I am ready to fight.

Had a similar run in race A earlier. Guy with an aggressive pre race message nuked myself and the p2 driver in turn 1/2 by not braking at all lap 1. P2 quit. I ran him down and figured it was a mistake, nope, they pushed me off on the inside of the final turn in the esses, where you suffer for the dunlop left. Caught him again and he side slams me wheels on the grass on the straight. I finally get to him a last time in the final turn, he slides it a bit. I sense it inside and nudge him wide as I do.
I'm post race chat I'm the filthiest driver out there apparently. I asked if he would consider braking for turn 1 at the start next time and he immediately quits the lobby.

People too often seem to want to feel their aggression is totally justified and anyone else being aggressive is totally unacceptable. I have him chances.

Oddly enough next race he started on the outside and was held there at turn 1 and he was as polite as can be.:D

To be fair I use headlight flashing as a legitimate way to get revenge without having to resort to punting.

When someone has bumped me or punted I pretend to be super angry, driving really aggressive right up to them all the while flashing my headlights. They are probably laughing at the angry Brit who is behind them. I have done this for nearly an entire race before the payoff (though it's often quicker).

The payoff being they are so busy looking behind them that they drive themselves off track and I cruise by with a smug look on my face. It's not very sportsman like but then neither is punting and bumping.

This is also why I almost never look behind me and once I am past someone I am looking at what is next up front. I just use the radar, time and racecraft to deal with what's behind

Way off-peak US account car testing for Race C. The 86 is good, as I thought it may be. Now I've been able to run laps in it without being bashed around and slowed down I actually set a lap matching my Trophy best, I'd say that proves I should be faster in the Trophy though.

Don't bother to use

Dodge Viper Gr.4 (just not good enough)

Hmmm....

Yes the Viper, Atenza, RC F and especially the 4C can all do one, not good enough, so props to anyone overachieving in these cars. 👍

Sounds like I'll have to test the Viper myself & go in with my elbows out. I'll start in Race B.

It's too hard to reset yourself now, by quitting races (Too many A/S assholes). I quit 4 races today, and was still in the top split group.
So then I did the turn around, over and over again, and went from 95 to 21, with about 15 SR downs. 👍

Just the two races this evening in the Slophy cup. Both times starting around 8th-9th and finished 5th and 7th I think, maybe 8th. Opted to start both on mediums due to the midfield traffic in the first few laps. Got my elbows out a bit more which isn't my preferred style. Back up to A now which is nice but I'm yo-yoing between A and B a lot recently

Did either of the Gr. 3/4 Mustangs get a buff or some other tweak? The Gr. 3 on RMs feels good at Seaside II. Viper feels less capable than before. Mustang did a 1:39.812 which was in the realm of FL in my first race. I'm gonna take this show pony into the ring & see if it becomes a stallion.

Just had a damn good race in the Mustang. Had some quality highlight moments. And then the game froze up on me. :irked: Closed the application & switched to my main account. Ran the Corvette to a 1:39.544

Ran some quali laps in the Mustang on the main account. Got it to run a 1:39.644. So close to beating the Corvette. Anyway, the Corvette time was enough to get me a pole position. Then I got disconnected from the server.

Clearing your network cache? That might help, before you decide to enter Sport Mode. I've had to do it, when I kept getting disco'd.

I haven't done that in a while, but I haven't played in a while. Next couple of races went fine, even without clearing cache. This week might be better for me than I thought. :mischievous: Film at 11.

It's the indirect effect of no more DR resets and SR yoyo system. Most people are now at high SR, you really need to work at getting out of SR.S with the current system.

Matchmaking goes by SR then DR. Since most people are now at high SR, DR will be closer grouped together. And since no more DR resets, no more random DR, people actually get matched on how competitive they are.

It still has little to do with clean and fair racing, and at higher DR you might actually see more people willing to race with elbows out to increase their DR. That was my observation at Sarthe last week, A+/A DR rooms were pretty nasty at times, while a bit lower on the DR scale people left more room and drove with much less desperation to gain/keep positions.

The poorer (sportmanship) driver gets ahead in this system. But indeed, they'll still crash themselves sooner or later, the better skilled driver still has the overall advantage if they don't mind dealing with continued abuse :irked:

I've been asking myself if the Mustang is back...

These are going out to my guys @Groundfish & @RacingGrandpa.

All I saw was WIN 44! This ones for you! Feel it...LOL. I don’t like this genre generally but this one right here...Money! A great song after putting the pony car on top of the podium! That’s p I m p l o l nice job. 1.10-20 Mustang is IN the song.
