How about we change our Clan name to [Jinxed]? I know atleast one person who fits that description... *sulks*

I found a tent but made the mistake of running nilly willy out of Cherno, got some agro, had to run circles to lose them and now I'm lost. And I ALWAYS miss the big fire fights!

Well, let's hope for better luck tommorow. :P

Hey fellas, listening on TS3 right now with the guys. They're currently in a firefight, i think they lost 3 guys already (using diff TS3 channel). I wish i could help but im about 4 clicks away from them - also losing blood from dehydration! ...I've logged out since i got work in 30 mins. Goodluck fellas!

Edit:

@ theessdog/killerfish
- welcome to the group!

I wouldn't mind missing a fire fight like this. They were probably waiting till we gathered to move out. They took out 2 of us at the same time, including me.

I survived the first shot but had to use a bandage real quick. Enough time for them to hit me again.

Did they loot any of the tents?

@ Stiggie - thank you

I'm on the regular teamspeak and was wondering why it was so quiet.

It would be awesome if you could teach us some tactical KillerFish. Everyone besides myself atm are in a firefight and its going 50 50 for us at the moment. Need more practice with this many people playing together.

Already lost a few with bad communication. Looks like none of us are ready for a group this big just yet lol. I am just the messenger. Not logged in yet. Waiting for newt before I log in.

Would be happy to help where needed... I spent 5 years in a leg unit in Germany. Desert Storm Vet, Squad leader yada yada... Last night was the first time running around DayZ with a group... And it was a blast considering I got whacked from behind! :scared: That was my longest running character to date... like day 18.When I first started playing I was getting killed left and right.... Until I changed my tactics, slow and easy.... alot of scanning and glassing before movement... use the terrain and not expose myself. We left the "backdoor" open lastnight so to speak. Whenever we have Sniper ops running on that scale we also need 360 degree outward security watching the snipers and spotters six`s. My bet is we drew that guy in from target practice on the bunny! :dopey: Also, would like to thank whoever helped me get to the "East" camp lastnight, fed and watered me down...

Greetings, one and all! My name is Patrick but you can call me Pat, Potato, or Gaius. I am looking forward to working with the lot of you in a hail of bullets and flying zombie parts. I'm a bit of a joker and do not always know when to stop but I mean well. I am 18 and like swimming, reading, movies and dismembering zombies with high explosive ordinance.

Is there anything else I need to do, before becoming a member.

Other then the things above, I need to get my blood level back up to 12,000. However I already have a few blood packs.

I am pretty sure that is all you need. Of course I am just reading from the first page on this thread regarding entry. It also states you need to go through a few group sessions with the vets before they will trust you with sensitive information. Basically become buds with some of the existing members

Soo. I haven't received a "Welcome to not getting killed on our server...by us". But I'll go ahead and introduce myself anyway.

Name's Dom. I'm 29, live in St. Louis with my wife and kid. I am not too serious most of the time, but I definitely take surviving in this game seriously. Chances are if I'm around, I'm doing my best not to be seen.

Along with my spotter (Bob in game), I typically keep an eye on the major cities looking for people making life hard for new survivors. I love seeing the pink mist of a bandit.

Also, the server's full =(

I'm on the regular teamspeak and was wondering why it was so quiet.

The public channel only had 10 slots and there was 11-12 of us, so walker created a 20 slot channel. I changed the port settings in the OP - check it out.

Welcome to the new guys, btw

And TVR, you're already part of the group. Galus got it right. We hope to see y'all soon. Walker and the guys are probably still playing - check TS or message them on steam chat.

Cant join atm, still at work for the next 5 hours.

Thanks for that update Stiggie, much nicer seeing folks on (well more then the 2-3 of us that was still on the old channel). :)

Thanks for the welcome Stiggie :D I can't join the teamspeak server yet since my parents always have the television blaring and I'm in the living room. This mic picks up background noise really bad. Have to reach some sort of agreement...or buy a better mic. I suppose that is what I get for only dropping $20 at Walmart... I'll head down to Radio Shack in the morning and see what they have. Anyway, I'll just try to scavenge essential equipment for myself for now.

Thanks Stiggie...I will update the channel information.

Nice, two ex-military 👍

I'll be creating a new Steam group so everyone can join there and also add each other.

Also, we're currently thinking of a new group name. The entries are a few pages back. We still need a few. I'm changing my entry from Easy Company to this:

Zombieholics Anonymous or Zombieholics Anonymous Platoon :D

Tags: -=ZA=- or -=ZAP=- :D

We need a new name asap so we can use tags to better identify each other inside the server.

Bandit's got mah BEANS! I want them back =_= Figures that was my best scavenge run into Cherno and I get gunned down on my way out. I really ha--dislike...those people.

there is a hacker in the server killed five of 9 of us and we lost alot of good weapons and 2 tents:scared:

Damn you guys, stayed up till 5am. Gonna be hard gettting to work in 3 hours. But it was so cool.
Got some stuff on vid, video incoming this week, have enough for 2 already I think

The hacker is gone he killed everyone on the server that didnt log out in time be careful he might come back

Looks like today was just a bad luck day lol. Good luck with those who are still playing. I might gear my guy up before work this week but I have no idea when I will be on to play dayz with you guys.

Hey FM,

Good to see another veteran.

I agree on the Stary Sober "car bait" firefight, there was no inner and outer cordone it sounded like. Everyone likes to tunnel vision to one hostile player, wanting to get a kill shot.

-----------------------------------------------------

Some thoughts I had on employing from a basic tactic used in OIF when doing raids.

Assault usually the main effort, goes into the objective, clears buildings of players, primary zombie killers. Someone provides security on the entryways, the other scavenges. A corpsman (medic) out to go with the assault in this game. Because of zombies, sidearms or silenced primaries would be great to have.

Inner cordon focuses on the objective and internal threats such as players This can be a support by fire by snipers and a MGunner. Which is typically "overwatch" of an assault team going into a town in a treeline. I would even go so far as to say do not engage zombies unless in dire need. Giving away positions is a security risk.

Outer cordon focuses on external threats to the objective (enemy reinforcements) such as roads and infiltration routes to the town coming into town from the outside. This is typically a "Guardian Angel" they watch the support by fire, does not engage anything on the objective, not revealing their location and engage those that are going to harm the "overwatch".
There's a lot of counter-snipers in this game, they know the good locations are that players use, they know that everyone in a tree line is looking at the town, not their rears.

I agree on the lack of 360 internal security even especially as we are moving in the game. It's really easy to neglect this in game, heck in RL too. Takes a lot of discipline to do so. But then again this is just a game, there's nothing like individual/squad rushing in the traditional warfighting . There's no micro terrain, sparse heavy brush, rocks, ect. You can sprint forever unrealistically in full gear. We run 10k likes it cool.

I read about a squad of infantrymen that played this game, tried doing RL infantry skills vs. other teams; it just wasn't realistic in this game. It's easier to run and gun than seeking cover and gaining fire superiority, no fear factor, (I mean it's like you and everyone are fighting as drugged out Taliban ha ha). Though if you watch some of the Youtube DayZ firefights, some good players are adept at turkey peaking "using leans left/right from cover". Brilliance in the basics is the key.

Oh a suggestion I would like to make to help identifying squad mates are using specific things like everyone wearing a certain type of glasses, skin, or what not. On a large op, having everyone log out/log in until they have a certain type of color vest/shirt. Yeah I know it will take 5 minutes.., but it will make things a lot easier when chaos happens. Better to do that than keep getting hit by friendly fire again.

I do have my pissy moments from reckless behaviors, but I think everyone knows I have the best intentions for my teammates.

Regards,

Ender

Nice write up with tactics, Paladin. 👍

I was just about to post about the 'character' editor too - got me thinking after what happened today. The options are not that diverse though. There are a few skins where faces have full beards and one with a brave heart looking blue face paint. Other than that, there's glasses/shades we can use.

Oh, and i think we should designate everyone into fireteams/squads to make it even more organized. We can have people in rotation to keep things fresh.

I am usually assault. Before I died always used a silenced weapon and took down zombies. I noticed when I got on before I even met up with anyone that most of the team was sniping. I love your post and I hope we all start doing that.

Also want to point out as well that we already do have leaders in this group. I noticed a few people taking over and I don't want people to not give ideas out while in game but we should be having walker and beavis make the decisions and not just jump ahead.

We already had the idea of two teams. We even have it set up already in the TS3 we just don't have it actually implemented with the group yet. Hopefully all of the guys with military experience can get together with Walker and Beavis and if needed myself and Newt and get a good group and rotation going for both teams.

I would prefer assault but I can overlook as well. In regards to the hacker, a majority of us made it back to our bodies and got back our loot.

Everyone who was kill by the hackers things havve been recovered and placed in south camp i have also put down a second tent under a tree were the truck used to be some things might be missing but most is in them. Please only take your on things. :)

Hey guys, so I just wanted to give a rundown of what happened today. I got on around the middle of the day and the teamspeak was basically empty. I played solo for around 4 hours, and finally found the new teamspeak info on the forums.

It was at this time Newt needed some drinks so I circled around novy, where I had been posted with a DMR for a while, and headed for a tree line. Once in, I spotted someone up in front of me and I took him out as he turned to aim at me.
I had killed michael, sorry michael :(.

After that mishap, we checked out some tents, im not sure how they were found, and then I believe the hacker incident came next. Basically he was just teleporting around and blowing people up.

Edit* Before the hacker, we were able to unleash our firing squad on a couple of survivors running towards novy.

As I respawned in cherno, I ran into a building and looted a little bit only to fall off the top and break my legs. I had to respawn and then I looted electro. I packed in some stuff at electro then headed north to where we all had died earlier.

On my way North, I found a body of someone who must have been killed by the hacker. I got a bizon, 7 mags, a m107, and basically filled up the rest of my bags.

I then headed to all of our bodies, where blazing had set up some tents and moved our weapons into. Here I traded the m107 for the L85 and watched over the tents as they transferred everything to our camp.

Unfortunately, I got some really high ping and was kicked out before the final trip back, so I called it a night.

Well I think I ended on a good note tonight. Got pretty much everything I would ever need for solo survival except matches, a water bottle and a sidearm. No player encounters since that guy that stole my beans. Is it just me or does it seem like whenever you are about to set yourself up nicely you get killed by something? Just me? Eh, I must be cursed. So much for the "luck of the Irish" lol.

Also my 2 cents for the new platoon name; I think we should switch it up and go with Platoon of Anonymous Zombieholics. Though the acronym does not have the same...zap to it (lol I kill me)
