I have recieved an email from Amazon stating the delivery of my normal copy has been pushed back to November 9th-11th(standard delivery):(

I've pre-ordered both the CE and standard edition from Amazon and while it states the 5th for the normal edition, it still states that I'll receive it on the 3rd. The release date for the CE is still the 3rd. But really, does it matter? One or two days here and there won't be a tragedy.

i noticed that too my collectors pre-order on amazon still says 3rd but it won't really affect me, i have uni studies to do so i won't really get a chance to try it properly until the weekend

I can only assume there's maybe concern of a lack of supply for the standard edition at this point in time, but really, a GT5 game not being produced in enough quantity does seem a little unlikely to me, but who knows. I have my CE pre-ordered on Amazon and haven't received any emails yet, hope I don't. If I do I'll be securing a copy some other way!

My take on this is that the game is released on the wednesday, but ony the ones that were pre-ordered get sent out, and the game comes out on the shelves for people to buy on the friday, as most games in the UK come out on a friday.

Perhaps it depends on how long you've had a pre-order of GT5?

I've had GT5 pre-ordered at Amazon since about 2007... although the original got cancelled - and I had to reinstate it earlier this year...

At Play however I've only had it pre-ordered for half a year or so...

Which ever one arrives first I will "Buy" - the other will be sent back! (Or onwards to a friend if necessary)

(If neither arrive by the friday - a trip to Tesco/Game/Someonelse on the way home will suffice - and both will be Amazon/Play will be sent back)

I've checked this with Game in Stockport where I have a pre-order for the signature edition and they said all pre-orders will be honoured on the 03/11/2010 though general release will be 05/11/2010. This sounds like PD are working right up until deadline and numbers will be very limited for a short while. Best get your pre-order in now if you've not done so already (which of course every member of this forum will have done already :)

That's great news if it's true. Thanks.

I'm pre-ordering F1 2010 tomorrow at game, so I'll ask them then aswell.

I'm still under the impression that UK stores have been "advised" to not ship the game before November 5th because of their huge popularity among people living in the rest of Europe, because of their low prices. As this is causing some economic losses to local retailers, SCE has even started removing non-english languages from certain PAL PS3 games sold in the UK (at least for first party games) to discourage international sales within the EU.

Harvey norman,EB games and JB are showing nov 4 as a release day. On asking they say they can`t confirm a midnight release on the 3rd as nothing official has filtered down to the stores from head office, but they all state it`s highly likely they will... the more pre-orders they get the higher the chances of them having a midnight release. (while that is true, they are still sales people and will say that to get you to pre-order with them right there on the spot)
Funnily enough JB at liverpool said they will not open at midnight due to fears/safety concerns due to the surrounding suburbs and its local population. I wonder what that means 💡

Oh noooooo! Just got an email from Amazon UK, warning me that GT5 publisher has delayed the release date again!!!! Not again!!!!
Hello, Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date: "Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)"Estimated arrival date: November 09 2010 - November 15 2010 One of Amazon's aims is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have fallen short. Please accept our sincere apologies.
Anyone else got this message?

Does this help prove the point of retailers and non-official dates. Could be fake though. Also could be because the game is being shipped internationally.

I would just like to let everyone know that I pre-ordered from Amazon UK and I still have not received an email telling me my order will be delayed, and when I go to check my outstanding orders on amazon.co.uk, it still says the order will be dispatched on Nov 2nd. I pre-ordered this game a while ago, before the CE and SE were even on the table. It could be that GT5 will be produced in limited quantities and therefore people who are pre-ordering now will only receive the second batch of GT5 copies delivered to these online retailers. This is only a suggestion, please don't kill me for it...

I dont think this is the case there will be more "off the shelf" sales due to the fact the majority of ps3 owners don't visit forums or buy £5 game mags and will buy the game on an impulse in a shop so stock levels should be very high, one thing though is that stores get stock of a new release usually on the Wednesday ready to shelf on Thursday night after the store closes.
I think Amazon have been told NOT to post the game out earlier than the official release date (as they always do so you have it on the day) but the thing is game developers don't like that way of doing thing's as some buyers get it the day before official release ( as i did with gta4 )

I still havent got that email from amazon and this is all based on that, so.

If it doesn't arrive on the day the say it is, I will be taking it further since I payed extra for it to be delivered then. So they have to post it earlier for me if they are going to adhere to what I payed for for the on the website. This however is based on the fact I have yet to recieve an email from them.

I would think there is a clause giving them ley-way regarding the delivery date stated, But until everyone receives the e-mail theres no worries,:) The only thing I could think of is that the poster who has the e-mail from Amazon is based in Lisbon (Portugal I assume), it may not affect the mainland u.k

Its widely been accepted that retailers can post the games on the Wed so the customer recieves it on release day. At times it does arrive a day early but here in the UK first class post does not always mean next day delivery. The game producers accept this which is why its been allowed for many years.

Just to back up the Amazon delays one of my friends had an email saying his copy was pushed back until the 8th-10th November.

Would it be possible for me to upgrade my regular-preorder at Game to the super special awesome edition? Or would I have to cancel it and preorder the other version?

I would imagine you'd have to cancel first but check with whoever you ordered it with as they may allow it.

The email I received says it'll be delivered on the 5th, but then I chose to pay for first class postage. ;)

Either way, we will all have it by the 6th.
We've waited 6 years.....

What is wrong with you people?

:irked:👍

This sounds like PD are working right up until deadline and numbers will be very limited for a short while.

Highly doubtful GT5 is still being worked on, at a maximum, final QA might be in process, but unlikely. It will be in the process of mastering, printing and eventually ready for distribution. Working on it for patches is a possibility (though that side of the team could well be taking a break about now), but the master code won't be being worked on.

I think it also unlikely that available copies will be low.
