I decided to stop being so precious about ascendant shards, I had about 30 so now I'm level 28 without any exotic armour. If anyone's interested you need 98 light to get there, which is a full set of legendary armour with six ascendant shard upgrades. I've kind of put all my hopes into finding or buying an exotic helmet before any other armour since I've spent all my shards on my gauntlets and chest armour (I also just this second upgraded the leg armour once after getting my seventh Queen's helmet thing), but either way I'm not really intending to keep this helmet I got from the Queen since it's a bit ugly. I'll probably end up buying the Dustwalker one since I've got Dustwalker everything else, that is if Xûr isn't selling an exotic hunter helmet this weekend.

I've got a good feeling about the gunsmith today, he'll be selling rare fusion rifles at some point, I just know it. Come on, guy, you know you want to.

I've got bad news for you man - he was selling them last night/this morning before the 3AM refresh.

Thats awesome you were able to actually buy legendary gear. You are the same level as me now. You caught up really quick.

Congrats on finally getting something from an encrypted legendary item. Must feel good. haha

As for the cave, it is indeed quite boring and very rare I ever get anything from it. I don't feel guilty using the cave because I put well over a solid 45 hours into this game before using the cave. I feel like I deserve a reward from all the hard work. So to use it once in a while doesn't bother me but its not something I can sit and do for an extended amount of time. I usually just do it to chill before getting off the game for the night. Nice way to wind down. Hopefully eventually we can hook up together and play again. Especially now that we are the same level.

Yeah, I totally forgot that the Warlock Vanguard in that little hall sells things. I'm planning to save up just enough points to get the gloves too. A helmet will come next week as by then I would already have reached the 100 marks cap for the week. I was dedicated, at the time, to get to level 26 for the raid. Right now I'm just really trying to get a legendary Primary. I also got a Legendary Engram for leveling the Cryptarch to level 6, and even though it turned into a blue sniper rifle, it is still useful as I needed a level 20 sniper.

Yeah for sure, I'm not sure if I'll be playing today, but if you ever have a slot open just invite me.

Where exactly is he located? I am thinking I might have missed him too.

Maybe we could attempt the raid Friday night? Since Saturday is not going to work for us. Maybe Friday we can get enough people together.

My Cryptard (sorry that's just what I call him) is I believe around level 7.

Also I will keep that in mind about the open slot. I always just expect friends to join but I will make sure to invite you if there is a slot available. I still HATE that Destiny is only a 3 player co-op. Arrggg. Game could have been soo much better with 4 player co-op. Honestly the worst decision they made with Destiny.

When you first get to the tower, head towards the bounty robot, but instead go down the flight of stairs. go straight until you get to the round table (well, its not round, but you get the idea) and it'll be the first person that you can approach, it will be a Female Warlock Vanguard.

I'm down, and scared at the same time. I should hopefully be level 26 by then. Hopefully my weapons would be good enough to cut it. Although, I did remember someone mentioning that we should be 27+ if we want to be effective.

Yeah I always look at my friends fireteam before I start playing, so if everyone is full I'll just solo. After that I probably wont check again as I just get sucked into something else. They should make it 6, all across the board, instead of just the Crucible.

I'm confused, is that GMT or...? I thought I managed to check the midnight-3am refresh and 3am-6am (couldn't sleep), but in any case if they were being sold 3am-6am GMT I'm hardly surprised I missed them. Well, at least I was right about him selling them today!

No point in doing queen missions anymore then, I was only doing them so I could dismantle the armour for ascendant shards.

Yeah that's seriously messed up about the queens missions. THAT I am upset about. Those are legitimately difficult and time consuming for 1 item. :rolleyes:

Oh well I will still replay the queens missions but dang that seems ridiculous not allowing the legendary items from her to be broken down into essential materials. :irked:
 
Atleast they're humorous about it and not like Rockstar's Dictatorship when it comes to updates and changing the game.

While yes the humor is nice, but this is a step toward the Rockstar dictatorship for sure. Especially with the queens armor not being worth anything any more. I wonder what it will break down into now? Or just nothing? As long as we at least get some glimmer from it that wont be so bad I guess.
 
That's true, whats the point of the Queens mission of you already have better equipment, or if they don't break down into anything useful? I can still use them as an upgrade, but for you guys that already have better equipment, there's not much incentive..

I still plan to do them because you can still pick up items along the way and the boss battles are always my favorite part of the game. I just find it a bit strange they will no longer break down into resources. I will have to check the next time I play to see what they break down into. Hopefully at least glimmer.
 
Well, it's been quite the night already; @Terronium-12, @Clark and I did the weekly at level 28 (we were levels 28, 27 and 28 respectively), that got me on 5/2500 towards Future War Cult rank 3, then I joined T12 for what I thought was going to be 5 minutes of patrolling before we started a Sepiks Prime strike and ended up getting something like 745XP from patrol missions... That's a lot of patrol missions! Actually that's more than I had from all my bounties today.

I got 30 glimmer and 2 hardonic essence from my legendary helmet today from the queen. Pretty much worthless for me.

I was so proud to go and see the Cryptarch yesterday with my 4 Legendary Engrams...
He decoded them and guess what? I received a green shotgun (useless), a Strange Coin (well, at least I'll use it someday), a green helmet (useless) and... TADAAAAA... a Hunter's legendary cape.
The problem is that I'm a Warlock.
Stupid Cryptarch, I hate him.

By the way guys, do you know where I can find Ascension Shards? I need some to upgrade my Legendary chest armor.
 
I would say the Queen's gear gave them but Bungie put a stop to that rather quickly.

One the topic of Xur, I checked reddit and someone made a thread stating Xur was already around.

I had two legendary engrams I told myself I'd keep in storage until Bungie clarified what they meant by the riddle regarding the cryptarch and legendary engrams that was thrown in yesterday's patch notes.

So I caved.

Ended up with this:

I wasn't sure if I wanted the hood for my Warlock or the Suros Regime. I thought long and hard and ended up taking the gun. I'm sure I'll have another chance for the hood soon.

I also retired my Hard Light for now. (It's in my vault with Thunderlord. I dare not scrap them.) Time to level these two new guns up!

Ahhh I want that MIDA Multi Tool so bad! I've heard the little display to the left of the scope points to nearby chests, is that true? I really doubt it but who knows.

I forgot about Xûr, I've got nearly 50 coins so I guess I should pay him a visit. Also I logged in just before 10 (wanted to grab an emblem before it potentially cycled out of her inventory), got five Vanguard and Queen bounties, did a couple, had a power cut, came back and found I had more bounties. Seriously though, this 200 headshots vs. Fallen is a pretty egregious grind and I've had it every day, surely they have something less tedious?

Edit: went to see Xûr, bought the Knucklehead Radar and SUROS Regime, thought I might as well take a chance on an exotic engram... Turned out to be a helmet engram (I'm sitting quite far from my TV so I don't know if it was a helmet in Xûr's inventory already?), got the Mask of the Third Man. Not bad, I wanted the Knucklehead Radar in case I ever want to play Crucible and the Third Man because I almost always use Bladedancer.

Edit some more: I just got my Pocket Infinity, I think I may be happier about having four free bounty slots rather than having another exotic since they take so long to upgrade into their properly exotic forms. The Pocket Infinity has a pretty low charge rate and three round battery... But then when you get to the Pocket Infinity upgrade neither of those drawbacks actually matter.

He doesn't, the only ways to get ascendant materials (i.e. energy or shards) that I know of are:
- Public event gold rewards (speaking of which, I just golded an event and got nothing at all)
- Breaking down legendary or higher armour (shards) or weapons (energy), excluding things you get from Queen's Whatever missions (at least I assume this still works)
- Daily Heroic missions on higher difficulties (one for level 26, two for 28)
- Raids (saw a stream where a guy got 11 shards - while everyone else got exotic armour so he raged)
- Legendary or higher engrams
- Crucible rewards
- Possibly strike rewards, I guess
- Maybe from rank up rewards.

I think that's it.
