It's the easier Mars strike, thankfully, I reckon we could do it without the need for cheese as long as we have good weapons that suit the modifiers and ammo synth packs for them. If we're careful to not get overrun by the mobs Valus himself is pretty easy to avoid - to the point where you can quite easily attack him even while he's attacking you - so we should be ok. Assuming @Terronium-12 still needs to do it when I'm online later, who's the third person going to be? @Clark?
 
I haven't solo'd it, may as well get all 9 strange coins at once.

What on earth am I going to do with 40 coins?
 
You can get a breather in the room before you enter the main hall to take on Valus, or maybe have someone stay there and let two take him on. If they both die, leave the fire team and rejoin the person waiting in the adjoining room. This is what I was told to do, when I joined someone Weekly Heroic on level 28. Again, I got 9 strange coins for doing not a lot!
And make sure you are packing Void weapons, makes things easier.

If you already have a fusion rifle you'll only need 10, if you don't have one you'll need 11 - the 11th meant for acquiring the 200 necessary kills for the penultimate step.

I should point out the 11th does not have to be rare. As long as it's a fusion rifle the kills will count.

I just traded in 50 relic iron to the crucible and it only gave me 25 crucible points and 5 marks. Is that all that any of the materials give you? I get more than that in 1 win in the actual crucible. A win after doing the weekly nightfall gives you 31 and 5.

Are there other materials that up the actual XP for the crucible over 25 per 50 material?

No, they all give you the same. Relic iron is pretty hard to come by in my experience so I just farm the divide in Russia, it doesn't take too long to amass a few hundred spinmetal - right now I have enough for 40 Crucible marks and 200XP (but I'm holding onto it until after the nightfall so they're worth 30XP instead of 25). If you have bounties to do on Earth, or if you want Vanguard XP from patrol jobs, you can usually make 25-50 Crucible XP for every 50-60 Vanguard XP if you don't mind taking detours to check chest spawns. I'm waiting for the others to be ready for the nightfall so I'm probably just going to idly farm for a bit, see if I can make it to 500 spinmetal before they're back.

Also, I really hate Crucible. I know I'll have to get stuck into it to reach rank 3 so I can spend my marks but jeez, what a chore.

I'm pretty sure this game needed about another year of development. It plays like something that's completely incomplete.

I've had more fun playing Alien Swarm.

Nightfall is more annoying than an actual challenge.
 
My problem with destiny is harder difficulty just make the enemies hit harder and have more health/shields. Difficultly should change their tactics, not just make them bullet sponges.

Well if you ever sit back and just watch, their tactics do change up and somewhat significantly. You'll notice enemies evading attacks more, sneaking up on you if you turn your back to them, Phalanx's will form an imprenetreble shield formation (they did this when me and neema was doing the non-nightfall Lv. 28 of the same mission), and they're just generally smarter.

Everything else you've said is also true.

But Alien Swarm is an awesome game, it's also complete AND free, so technically it has infinite value for money. Destiny so far feels like a demo, like a slightly less interesting GT5: Prologue...

Should I buy a rare Sparrow?

If, like me, you have nothing else to spend vanguard/crucible marks on... yes.
 
Again, my point being that I didn't have to spend 90 bucks on Alien Swarm to have as much fun as I did with that game. Imagine how cool AS could be if they had the balls to ask for 90 bucks.

Oh, I figured you meant you've had more fun with Alien Swarm but don't even like Alien Swarm. Also if you need help with anything specific or a third person for a strike or whatever on PS3 let me know and I'll defect briefly.

Yeah, I'm buying a Sparrow. I want an auto rifle but I think I like the New Monarchy one more than the Vanguard ones.

Ooh, maybe. It depends, I expect I'll have less play time now as my girlfriend is back from Berlin and weekends are usually the only time I can see her, but if I'm free then I'll be up for it. I still don't think I'm prepared enough though, which damage types should we be bringing?

Also, I highly recommend rare Sparrows. Being able to boost sideways is excellent for roadkills and general zooming around, if Xûr isn't selling an exotic I really want I think I'll buy a Sparrow upgrade on the weekend.

Beat the weekly nightfall last night. Its much easier than last week's. At least it's easier if you actually went down and fought last week instead of standing up on the platform. We couldn't beat it last week so we stood on the edge of the tunnel after about 10 tries:). We did the nightfall first and then the weekly heroic on 28 and within about an hour I got 18 strange coins and 999 vanguard.

I still can't get 6 people together to do the raid. I've tried like crazy. There 3 of us ready every night. I go to the official forums and all kinds of people reply to my threads saying they will do it but they never accept worst the fire team invites or the feet friend invite.

I really hope they add some kind of chat feature for the tower so it's easier to organize for these raids. It's really frustrating not being able to do the raid.

Hmm I guess the Cryptard update never came out yesterday. Rumor is that it might be coming out this Friday? I am just going to set this game aside until that update is released.
