I'm curious what the Japanese chicks in revealing clothes have to do with the story.
I don't know, but I was more interested in them than Forza :D

phantasm
And as for all this supposed graphics enhancement of Forza over GT4... from the stuff i've seen Forza looks like it was coloured using pencil crayons and GT like it was photographed...
See, the deal is, Forza is better technically, with more polygons and whatnot, but GT4 is better visually, with the magic workings of PD.

P.S. You might have missed it, but they were JGTC girls. Didn't you see "Woodone" emblazoned accross their breasts? :dopey:

60 fps? Nice. I can't remember a game that fast since F-Zero GX. Btw that's the best racing game i've played since GT3.

yeti
Not strictly true.

I was talking about NTSC only. I can give a crap about SECAM or PAL.

I've played games at 60fps and honestly I didn't like it. It makes the graphics too crisp and.....uh....computery (that a new one). Lowering the framerate a bit gives things a softer look (which seems more realistic to me). That's another reason PC games always look so fake. GT doesn't have that "computerized" (yeah, that's the ticket) look compared to XBOX titles.

Hey Code, you always so vehemently deny being an XBOX fanboy, yet whenever an unbiased report comes out against the box you post something silly like "Oh yeah, well what about Halo 2?? Huh? Huh?" The fact is, they were comparing RACING titles and anybody with half a brain would put their money on the established GT series over any new offering.

I agree majin. That's the problem with xb racers, they look too computerized, unnatural looking. Gt4 just looks so realistic. code is a straight up xb fanboy.

Surely you are talking about resolution and not frame rate there guys.

The smoother look comes from higher frame rates, 30 can look jerky, especially in a race game where speed is everything.

The frame rate in the real world is...well kind of infinite..and looks pretty "natural" to me. :)

oh dear it's as if some people who too dumb to realise I was messing about

Majin I serious can't take anything you say seriously from now on, lower frame rate = better? BW AHAHAHAHAHAH. Plus Majin, I never even said ANYTHING about GT4, ofc it will be the best you numpty, I was poking fun at the people who said PS2 3 XBOX nill. btw majin, try riddick for realism ;)

I'm a fanboy cobra eh. IRONY COBRA, you of ALL people accusing some one of being a fan boy, my god, your obviously very short sighted. Cobra, you say I'm a fanboy, but I'm willing to give games a chance, something your not.

Look I don't know how Code_Kev became so <sarcasm>popular</sarcasm>

But please don't turn this into another Bash Kev thread, Cobra youre just as guilty, your signature is like a red rag to a bull.

I've watched the Forza video on IGN and it looks "pretty". Its a good game, and doesn't claim to be a simulator like GT, If you like eye candy and customizing gimmicks, then why not.

If we were all the same, then we'd all get pretty tired looking at ourselves all the time.

Riddick, realistic? What an oxymoron. Code, you are more bias than me.

it claims to be the GT killer by its makers... i don't know how you can claim to be a GT killer and NOT be a simulator...

and i wouldn't say "pretty"... like i said looks like the textures were done in pencil crayon... it doesn't look like crap, but i wouldn't put it in GT's league even with the hardware power advantage the crapbox has over the ps2... goes to show how money PD is squeezing every ounce out of the 'inferior' ps2. :sly:

hehe

Actually forza is being touted as being very realistic indeed. Doesn't bother me which is better, I'll be buying both anyway :D

I meant riddick looks pretty realistic in places, especially the characters.

Theres more to good graphics then JUST power, it's how it's used, and style.

Crapbox eh...*waves ninja gaiden in the air, and gives the middle finger*

forza is said to be a sim. I believe it will be a great sim for the xb but it can't compare to gt4. The gt series has always been in its own league.

Well I'm prepared to give it a chance and so should you, heck forza isn't even out till next year anway, so ya know, might be good :). From what I've read about it, it sounds very promising indeed.

I don't get all this console rivalry, I mean why bother? :grumpy:

*** waves GT and DFP2 with 900 degree steering and active force feedback back at ya, and says ninja what... it doesn't matter what ~

I agree with Sven, the chicks were more interesting than the article. As for my opinion on the two games, I don't know much about Forza so I'm not going to rule it out yet, the fact is even if it's a better game than GT4, GT4 will still win in sales by 3 or 4 to 1. I also agree that although Forza technically has better graphics ie higher resolution, higher poly count ect, GT4 does stomp on it's twitching bloodies bodie as if it's been left for dead. Now Forza could improve but in that area,it's not out for a while yet.

There are a few things in that article that I disagree with, the first is when they say Forza is only putting in the more desireable cars which is better, how can having less cars but all of them desireable be better than having all the desireable cars and the everyday ones as well which imo add a lot to the GT series.

Second is about the visual mods, I don't know what kind of visual mods Forza is aiming for, if it's anything like in NFS:U then it loses a lot of points in my book, if all the mods are proper aero kit's like what a real race car would use, then that would add a lot of points.

Thirdly is this, the fact you can swap engines, ED said "The engine-swapping does sound tempting, but if I want the bigger engine, I'll go to the bigger car.", now why is adding a great feature like that bad, if I want a bigger engine I now have the choice of a bigger car or squeezing into any other car it fit's in.

Overall I do think Forza will end up playing with it's X shaped penis over GT4 and GT4 will rule all, but I think it's stupid to jump to any conclusions about Forza at this stage.

I think I read somewhere (and I STRESS think, 50/50) that all mods to make a difference in terms of weight, aero dynamics etc in forza

code_kev
phantasm, have you got some kind of mental deficiency?
what up with that?? was just poking some fun back with your waving ninja gaiden comment... and after i propped your avatar in another thread... jeez, no love. :guilty:

Ok I didn't see the line MS's GT Killa...

and also

"Microsoft has wisely decided to fill the simulation void with one Forza Motorsport."

So its a simulator then....GT killer  maybe not.

Still thought the Le Mans type car was quite "pretty", and for the Farm Simulation fans out there, the trees look really good ;)

A particularly cool new addition is the ability to swap engines between cars. By taking a super engine and dropping it into a Miata, the resulting beast will be so powerful it might spontaneously combust or slam right into a wall. //ign

OMG!!!

*suffocates in sto0pidity*

Maybe I am wrong about the lower framerate but there IS something about PC and XBOX games that looks artificial (not counting, of course, that it is artificial :) ) when compared to GT. GT is not photorealistic mind you, but it looks much more so than any XBOX/PC game I've ever seen. Perhaps it is resolution that I meant.

At any rate, don't try that BS about just poking fun, Code. You NEVER miss an opportunity to glorify the XBOX. Anybody that has been around long enough knows that nobody can ever say anything good about the ps2 or GT4 without you bringing up some XBOX game and your Halo comment proves it.

Oh, and how shall I ever sleep at night from now on. Code doesn't take anything I say seriously any more! Woe is me! At least I have the maturity to admit that I am wrong. By the way, what is a numpty?

Hold on, isn't that unrealistic? Seriously how could a V12 get in a miata with its small hood?

Here's the main reason why gt4 looks more realistic than any racer, hell any game! I got this from board member antde2001.
"Global illumination. Though every racing game uses that, GT has a way of doing it with a combination of color saturation to make surfaces look real."

Swapping engines is not unrealistic in the slightest and I would love it if GT4 had asimilar feature. There are limits though so while you won't fit a Viper's V10 into a MX-5 (Miata) you could put it into several other cars, and going into a more sensible engine swap, you could fit a R34's i6 into a lot of cars.

No comment on that but i miust say that it does look good. If i had XBOX id buy it. It be a side game for me. Like GT is the only one for me but i play alot of other racing games besides. Sounds pretty good though. Gt sound like **** COMPARED.

Forza Motorsport Hands-On
First look at MS' GT-killa.

First point: They think Ferraris are the only "desirable" cars. And as far as I know, Ferraris and Lamborghinis are the only major "desirable" makes that aren't in GT4 (if you count RUF as Porsche, which isn't unreasonable). And as far as I know, Lamborghini isn't in Forza either.

Second point: Even NFSU2 is going to have visual mods that affect performance with respect to weight and aero. Only thing Forza has on it is car count.
