THE GUY WAS A LOSER tripleplay, his opinion doesn't count. Dumping everything for a game, I bet he was 1337!

GT3 = ((GT2 - 400 Cars + (Cars X lancers only) - fun / same tracks all the time) + some pretty graphics for the time + pathetic sound effects)

There you go, GT3 summed up for me, I really didn't like it. Gt3 best graphics ever...that is the best thing I've ever read, do you live in a cave? Do you not own a pc?

NOTHING deserves 10/10, ever.

"What else do you want out of GT3 taht would make it better?"

FUN.

edit

OH THIS IS A CLASSIC!!!

"IMHO if forza comes out, it should NOT get grades higher than 9.5 "

Why not? OHHHHH because it's not on the PS2, thus DOESN'T deserve it! FANBOY W00T W00T!

Umm, why don't you chill dude. Go take a vacation. If you don't like Gran Turismo, why are you posting at GTPlanet? Go to Forza Motorsport Planet. Oh, wait. There isn't one.

And if you want me too, I can make a poll in GT4 showing who's more interested in what, "Forza or GT4", and another one in the gt3 forum of "Is GT3 fun?"

I own a PC and have played several racing games on it, none of which were as visually impressive as GT4 (several of which weren't as good as GT3). There's just something off about PC games.

Wow, this sure does keep going and going.

GT-Unit lost none of his charm in changing to Tripleplay.

I'm a PS2 fanboy and I'm with kev on most topics - people need to stop being fanatical and try being somewhat objective. I'll happily defend either system if it's reasonable to do so - both have strong and weak points, both have strong and weak titles. That's the nature of everything.

No game ever deserves 10. Any time I've seen a magazine that handed out a perfect review, I've never read the mag again. It's pointless. No game will ever be perfect. A few games scored 97% in Hyper, the Australian independant magazine I read monthly. The were Half Life, Unreal and Deus Ex. Would you give these titles 97% now? By at least leaving some margin you acknowledge the fact games will continually improve. Look around, we're already thinking up what should be in GT5 if it's not in GT4... How can GT4 be perfect, which is what 10/10 or 100% implies, if it's deficient in critical aspects? That doesn't make sense.

The bible has no relevance to this discussion, either. Nor do most of Tripleplay's points.

Someone dumped their girlfriend, their real life and dedicated themselves to a video game? Now there's a role model. What the hell is wrong with people? Pathetic. GT3 changed your life? Baha.

Forza will kick ass. Will it beat GT4? Probably not, that's a tall order. Will it beat GT2 might be a more appropriate question. It's their first attempt, but there is already a precedent to follow, so it's not breaking new ground like GT1 did, thus to compare it to GT2 will be far more reasonable. Ignore the graphics and watch the gameplay.

I just hope Forza doesn't cause PD any further licencing problems!

I see what your saying it applies to most other driving/racing games, although they are superior graphically from a technical point, they look too clean, like plastic toy's,either that or the cars arn't quite the correct proportions and you can pick up on that easilly. GT4 just has the whole look about the cars and scenery spot on to give it all a more authentic, gritty look.

You never seen any of the Papyus racers? - GT or any console game can never get as realistic as those Papy Nascar games for one simple reason - resolution, a PC monitor is higher resolution than a TV.

Actually I haven't played any of thoes since Indycar for my 486DX over 10 years ago.

Resolution is great if it's well used, just like video cards are, just like the Emotion Engine is.

PC racing games could look a lot better if they spent the huge amounts of time creating the title as PD does.

Forza isn't the reason PD has licensing problems either.

No, but it could be if Forza becomes the Xbox Gran Turismo - i don't know the details of PD's existing licences whether they are exclusive or not or for how long they run - but with Microsofts financial clout - i can see some possible clashes ahead.

That is the most retarded reply I've ever read. Ever.

PC developers are lazy :guilty:

Thats one reason I like consoles, decent developers like PD really put the work in to get the most out of the hardware. I mean yes its harder with PCs in that theres millions of different configurations, but theres only a few games you can say made the most of PC hardware at the time.

That becomes a difficult balancing act though... really most game developers have to develop for PC's that are half a year old... otherwise they won't get enough sales cos only a certain percentage have the top PC's...

I don't know about ever but it certainly sets a lofty bar.

hey guys cut me some slack plz, it was 1 in the morning when I posted, and was extremely tired. my judgement was impaired. I sounded like an ass, please forgive me. :guilty:

and yes it made no sense at all, why did I even post it? there was no point... agh :banghead:

The path to atonement is one you walk alone.

That sounds sorta biblical don't you think? I should write my own bible, convert a few million people and start making money.

Seriously, just learn from it. If you're not tweeked on coffee, don't try for coherency at 1am, most people seem to struggle. Whether other people forgive you shouldn't matter, whether you feel better about yourself for doing the right thing the next time the situation pops up should.

hehe don't worry tripleplay, everyone makes an ass of them selves some times, I sure as hell have before :)

Like Forza compared to GT4?!

You're so with the fanboyism attitude when Xbox can win an argument but so against it when it loses!!

C.
Well, I'm against it from either side, even if the PS2 loses an argument :D
IGN
A particularly cool new addition is the ability to swap engines between cars. By taking a super engine and dropping it into a Miata, the resulting beast will be so powerful it might spontaneously combust or slam right into a wall
You can already do that in GT3 :p

heh, that's it? I never even thought of racing hybrids.

In 95% of racing games (on any system), it always looks to me like the
wheels aren't really rolling on the pavement...almost like they
aren't touching the ground.
Even in the first GT, they got the wheels right.
Sure, the PC may have better res, but the PS2 has enough.
If the PC and XBox look so great, then why haven't I seen a racing game
on those systems that looks better than Gran Turismo?
Cuz there ain't one...

I can't hook up my DS2 to my comp...that's why I don't play racing
games on it.hehe

"If the PC and XBox look so great, then why haven't I seen a racing game

Because it hasn't been made? I could say if the ps2 is so great, why havn't a seen a platformer on it as good as yoshis island? Because it would be a stupid thing to say. btw what about GTR, 56 cars on screen at once!!!

Colin McRae rally springs to mind...

Yoshi's Island?!!!
You have got to be kidding!
I have 5 words for Yoshi...Ratchet and Clank : Going Commando
and that's the problem with GTR...56 cars onscreen at once.

If the PS2 isn't so great, then why would it have the best racing game?
If the PS2 isn't so great, then why has it sold nearly 75 million units worldwide?
Why has it sold over a BILLION pieces of software?

Games are what sell consoles.
The PS2 has games in every genre that are the best or nearly so.

Games are what sell consoles.

Yup! Comparing ps2 game to other consoles (x-box) you can see that the ps2 is mostly famous because of its games. FFX, GT3, MGS2, etc are all must-own for every ps2 fan. And most of use have all of these great gaming classics.

thank you, usernamed.
I knew there were others here who hadn't been brainwashed.

Devil, you missed the sarcasm of what I said :P shhheeessshhh, i said it was stupid to say thing likes "UGH if the ps2 isn't so awesome, why does it have BLAH BLAH BLAH rant rant, *insert sales figures that mean nothing*"

BTW the ps2 currently DOESN'T have the best racing game, GT4 aint out yet :)

*pats RSC2* this baby currently is...for now anyway imo

But anyway, 56 cars on track at once!!! That owns!!!

"Adverts and image are what sell consoles."

Better.

"Adverts and image are what sell consoles."

Well you can create interest with adverts and image, but you can't sell a t*rd with glossy ads. The console or band or film still has to deliver.

See Victoria Beckham, or Waterworld

I agree with the wheel thing DevilGT, its something I've commented on before. I was given a copy of Colin McRae 4 by someone who worked on it at codemasters last year, and they wanted to know what a diagnosed GT fan thought of it. First thing I noticed was the "floaty" nature of the car and how the wheels sometimes ignored the rise and fall in the road. But politely I said the "Graphics were very good" but they could see by my lack of response that I wasn't impressed...

Graphics don't make a game, and to make a great game requires some kind of "magic". I don't know what it is, but you know its there when you have the controller in your hand and your mate is punching your arm trying to get a go.

GT3 has that something, and you just know that GT4 will too. In fact I don't think you'd actually need to advertise GT4 at all for it to sell. There are a million fans round the world drooling over it already ;)

Tacet_Blue, you're right on man.
Kev, I'm sorry...I thought you were serious...
but PS2 does have the best racing game -- GT3.

Advertising success is all about the approach. But in the end, success with an ad campaign has nothing to do with the quality of the game. For example, I live in Ohio, and I never saw any TV commercials for GT3 until about 10 days before the game went on sale. When it did go on sale, the commercials were gone.
I don't think PD or Sony is worried too much about ad-ing for GT4, since there are plenty of us who will buy it...maybe just to get us hyped-up so we can't point our fingers at the magazine pictures or the TV commercials and say to our friends,
"Oh, yeah! Look at THAT!"
