Nice 👍
Suppose that calls for an impromptue photo shoot:

Really good montage featuring a few unseen cars (at least for those who don't have the game yet) including the Citroen C4 WRC.

Aww man looks absolutely killer! Been playing DiRT 1 lately because I need the practice.. :P But why do some of the rally cars have front mudflap's but none in the rear? Kinda pointless since any rocks getting kicked up by the front wheels will hit the bottom of the car, but in the rear they go flying... at people :nervous:

But it's arcade. What's the point?

Because it's fun, which is the whole point of playing games. If you need to have an absolute, 100% hardcore simulation rally game go and play Richard Burns Rally. Let the rest of us enjoy another fantastic rally GAME by Codemasters.

It's still very "Sim", especially for being a mainstream game. and though I have not played it, people and reviewers who have, mention it is far better mechanics than 1 or 2.

Can anyone who has the game confirm something for me please... are the majority of the events, proper rally events? I got annoyed by all the truck/trailblazer/X Games/Ken Block stuff in Dirt 2, so are there enough proper rally events in Dirt 3 to satisfy a rally enthusiast like myself?

Just had an accident.. But we won't look at that.
I noticed that in an accident the driver crosses his hands over his chest to protect himself.
Here is a vid I took:

I love the attention to detail Codies put in :D

60% of the events in the game are rallies. The remaining modes - Rallycross, Gymkhana, Trailblazer, etc - make up the other 40%. However, there is a question of exactly what Codemasters define as a rally; modes like Head to Head and Trailblazer could reasonably be called rallies.

I've only just started the second season but I can't remember the longest stage. That was the first rally event on the second season.
Was longer than the first ones I'm sure.
🤬 fun though!

Oh and the guy who said Gymkhana was impossible with a wheel in his preview... He must be a noob

He didn't say it was impossible - just that he found it difficult to get into rhythm with the wheel as quickly as he would have with a controller because the controller would be easier to balance the car with. And that if he had force feedback on, it would have broken the wheel very quickly.

Bah was only joking.
I tried 10mins with the controller and it was definitely easier but went straight back to the wheel because it is so much more fun.

Edit: Just did a snowy stage, season 2, that was just over 2 minutes long. 👍

People moaning about sim accuracy need to go to other forums or realise that this was never intended to be a full simulation type game.

This is definately a TOP racing game in many respects. Graphics, audio, handling, speed, presentation. It ticks all the boxes, well at least for me and with it going more back to rally roots with iconic cars appeals more to motorsport and racing fans.

NEEDED PATCHES
I would say that their is a possible issue with the games audio which wont effect everyone but Buttkicker Users are going to find annoying. The effects within the game are actually very good like crossing the bridges, engine revs and crashing. However the MENUS totally send a BK crazy and are MUCH LOUDER than ingame effects. Music can be turned down but this does not effect the MENU SOUND EFFECTS. I hope Codemasters resolve this in a Patch. You also have this issue after a race with a real seat shattering explosion effect.

*I have tested this with both DTS and DOLBY output modes from the PS3. When selecting "Headphones" in game which is reverting to stereo and the reciever switches to PL IIx the bass is more controlled. So it seems the "Surround" setting has over agressive Bass & Dynamics in menus.

T500RS ODDITY & INFO
My wheel spins full left when you go back to the menus and it updates your career reputation. That shouldnt happen. FFB options allow Viubration Strength/Wheel Strength/Wheel Weight. Clutch is also recognised and the menus offer H-Shift & Clutch as an option. All we need now is the H-Shifter to be shown at E3.

T500RS PERFORMANCE
The wheel with more playing (2hrs in) does feel great, I havnt compared to others but owners of this wheel should find the steering is very responsive. It goes heavy to light in an instant and you can feel the differences in surfaces. Precision seems to be perfect also as catching an apex or positioning the car responds very well even to slight movements. Their is no deadzone as youd expect with this wheel which for this type of game with constant wheel correction is welcomed. As a gripe well the rumble effects for pottholes and bumps could be stronger or more frequent but this is nitpicking as it certainly isnt any worse than other games.

Right, I thought the same with my G27. You need to turn off your DS3, it will then tell you to press start on the G25.

Spent about 40 minutes on it today, mostly trying to set up wheel. Felt pretty good, visuals are really good.

Speaking of which, anyone know of any G27 settings or somewhere that explains it to me? Trial and error is okay, but it relies on knowing what you need to do!

Hi thanks m8 sorted, this has been doing my head in since yesterday, especially as after installing dirt GT5 and F1 2010 would not callibrate G25. Even took the one of my pc and done the process of elimination. Dam codemasters why cant they keep things simple, it should be written so as to pick up what ever controllers and the option in game to choose, many thanks again :)

Any idea how to get times onto the World Leaderboard?
I just did a fourth place run (cheating 🤬 in top spot too a massive short cut and 3rd place was using some assists. :grumpy: ) but it isn't showing on the leaderboard.

Nothing is going to show online until the official release day.

It's nice to know that Dirt 3 has more rally stages, that was something sorely missing from Dirt 2. Thanks for confirming that, I was worried that Codemasters might have been telling porkies to tempt rally fans back. 👍 There aren't many rally games around anymore, so it's nice to know that Codies have provided for us rally fans in Dirt 3.

I've heard it hasn't been made available yet and Codemasters are avoiding it until the game has been released worldwide.

Grats guys for hitting the leaderboards I hope you stay up there too :dopey:

Ah good to read some opinions from a fellow t500rs user. I went down to Gamestop to preorder my copy.

I should be able to play in the next day or so as well 👍
