Happy they're going for the classic McRae game direction- hopefully should see more rallying this time around then!
Judging by the ESPN logo in the corner I would guess it debuted during the rally portion of the X-Games, which explains why they would feature the "stunts and X-Games like features".
That video was released to the internet over a year ago. Block's driving the old Impreza, not the Fiesta (and you can tell by the upload date)/ He's not doing promo work for DiRT 3 in it - the sequence at the end of the trailer with the car going under the exploding semi is simply Codemasters re-creating the shot from the end of GYMKHANATWO. GYMKHANATWO is the video that got more attention when it was released, probably because it's longer than the original and had higher producion values. As such, most people saw GYMKHANATWO first, and would recognise the shot in the trailer as being a recreation of the video.
Block became well-known for doing those sorts of things, and he's become the unofficial public face of the franchise since the unfortunate death of Colin McRae. There's also the distinct difference between European and American rallying: in Europe, it's a discipline; in America, it's an extreme sport. Codemasters are clearly trying to integrate those two schools of thought together for DiRT 3.The explosion in the end spoiled it with a car flying in the background giving the yahooo .. arcade like feel. There is no need of stunts and X games like features. Otherwise the weather effect and the trailer was really nice.

Oh god please no. I have decided to give this game a wide berth. The reason it will be absolute rubbish(like Dirt 2) is because of 2 things - Ken Block and X Games. They ruined Dirt 2 - an annoying American with a hugely annoying voice and really OTT rubbish races in stupid venues. McRae will be turning in his grave.
So the new WRC game will suck as well since it has Block?
Also, McRae was part of the first two X-Games rally competitions so I doubt he would be turning in his grave. Thing is Codemasters is a company, they need to make money and an all out rally game just doesn't sell as well as a game that is set up like Dirt where there is a variety of events. This is why there hasn't been a WRC game in 5 years and after WRC comes out it will probably be many more before there is another.
Also, is it possible for you to make a positive post?

Frankly I don't care what any of you say. I know I have repeated myself about Dirt 2 being so utterly RUBBISH because of Ken Bollock, his American pals and their totally RUBBISH racing venues, and I will continue to do so in any threads related to the Dirt series until Codemasters and all of you get it through your heads that until they return to what made the original McRae games so good in the first place they will be arcadey, trash, and an utter waste of time. PERIOD.
Don't like what I say? Then don't read it.

Nah...I don't think he can!..

Definitely..
Anyways, I have a feeling you are rather close to the 30 mark, so you should probably watch who's feathers you are ruffling.
+1:tup:Ruffled some feathers? Not really, it's the internet nobody is going to get worked up about it, all you've go through to our heads is that you're a complete and utter idiot over your time on GTPlanet. Good on you 👍.
Not to mention the post on your public profile with your buddy recommending GRiD over Forza 3 (i.e. the less realistic arcade racer against the one leaning more towards realism). You seem to link stylistic changes with quality rather then quality with quality, Dirt 2 does what it does well. PERIOD. Regardless of what you think of the style choices they made, your opinion is not fact.

Coming 2011, DiRT 3 will boast more cars, more locations, more routes and more events than any other game in the series, including over 50 rally cars representing the very best from five decades of the sport. With more than double the track content of 2009’s hit, DiRT 3 will see players start at the top as a professional driver, with a top-flight career in competitive off-road racing complimented by the opportunity to express themselves in Gymkhana-style showpiece driving events.
As players race to elevate their global standing, DiRT 3 delivers mud, sweat and gears world over: from the intense weather-beaten rally stages of Europe, Africa and the US, to executing performance driving showcases and career challenges where car control is pushed to spectacular limits. DiRT 3 is now in development at Codemasters Studios for a 2011 release for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC Games For Windows® LIVE.
Sounds hugely promising! Points towarsds there being a fair few rally stages.
Almost sounds like Dirt 3 will NOT have Trophy Trucks, or anything like that. Maybe the T1 Raid vehicles, but it really sounds like trucks are gone. Which is sad, but the game will still be awesome.
