Wow, sounds like it's going to be a brilliant game!. Nice to see rallying is 'coming back' and not just another type of race with the same conditions. I'm glad to see that they've kept some of the fun disciplines from Dirt 2 such as rallycross too, this free roam and Gymkhana mode also sounds promising.

If the rallying is as good as it sounds and the physics improve a little, this could be the best Colin Mcrae Series game yet.👍

Small spelling error there, but don't worry I fixed it for you.👍

Oh of course, Gymkhana and free-roam are both aspects of the game that will probably be the main selling points for many people.

But, for me, it's just everything. Too much rallying goodness stuffed into one game! Nobody knows the final outcome yet obviously...but as you said, it's looking very promising and is definitely one to watch for in 2011.

Updating the first post now to include some more details. Takes longer than you think. :p

The thing is, you are one person out of millions. You won't get your message across with that attitude anyway.

Also, if they are an utter waste of time...then stop viewing threads related to the game and stop spamming them. Don't play the game and move on with your life.

Couldn't have said it better myself. 👍

I'm glad that proper rallying is making a comeback, with the exception of WRC 2010 and GT5's rallying, there aren't any rally games around now. The Gymkhana sounds interesting, I remember when Ken Block was on Top Gear(UK) and it looked fun to speed around an airfield, inbetween old planes. 👍 I'm intrigued by free-roam, I can't think how it'll work, I guess we'll be given a big area to mess around in?

I'm excited for the rally cars 'spanning five decades', I hope they have some MG's, they had a Metro 6R4 in Dirt 2 so hopefully they'll keep that and add to it an MGB GT and MG ZR. It will be interesting to drive a rally car from the 60's and compare it to the modern day equivalent. I'm quite excited for this, all they need to do now is cut down on the 'extreme' attitude.

From the information we've got so far, yes. You'll be able to invite friends to join you too. I can see myself spending a lot of time there.:)

Free roaming area called Compound: based on the Battersea Power Station, but two to three times bigger than the last game's version. You can practice in here and even invite up to seven friends to join you. Not only that, you can also activate mini-games such as Cat and Mouse. Ken Block can give you challenges here as well.

After reading the information in the first post, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a buy for me. Unless something durastic happens before hand.

Again, a must buy, this is sounding absolutely heavenly! Just read the first look: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1110806p1.html

One small passage that really caught my eye:
IGN
And fittingly it feels like a return to the ideals of the series' forebears - the Colin McRae games - with the addition of Finland, Norway and Monte Carlo as well as the introduction of the all-important WRC licence lending DiRT 3 a more traditional air.

WRC license?

A must buy for ma personal? Only if the physics engine is quasi sim.

Screenshots are 👍

I wonder if they've got that wrong, don't Blackbean have the rights? Unless codies have bagged the rights to the 2011 season.

There's an Mini (Proper one) and a Quattro in the screenshots above. 👍 They also mention in the article that there are: Lancia Stratos, Ford RS200, Peugeot 205, Toyota Celica, Lancia Delta Integrale and Subaru Impreza 555.

WRC doesn't have an exclusive license with anyone, PD also has it.

Codemasters also have the license, that's been known for a while now. I even said it in the first post. I just hope they use it to its full potential.

Wasn't any new information from the IGN article which was disappointing. Still shaping up to be a must-buy though!

Il be honest I had no idea they had it, and I must have missed it in the first post:D Very exciting news. I remember when CMR2005 etc only had the Subaru Rally Team America licensed car. Will I be right in saying this will be the first Mcrae game to hold the license since the first on the Ps1?

"Screenshots", typical Codemasters fakes.
Can't believe they are still doing this.

I find codemasters shots show off the core of what they are aiming for and features. Those shots show rain, open gymkhana and different era's of rally car.

Whilst the screenshots may be edited, Codemasters games always look great anyway.

I totally disagree, but that's not my point and most likely a matter of taste (I hate that overdone HDR effect they always use). But if their games look so good, why the heavy editing all the time? I mean, anti aliasing, okay, that's normal, but the pics from Codemasters are often way too far away from the real thing, like this:

That was a "screenshot" for DiRT 1, someone from Codemasters told me it's real...

Anyway, I just wanted to point that out, don't expect the details like the leafs in the final game, at least not how they look in the pictures.

That screenshot is edited. The car is from Dirt1, but the water and ground is not. There has never been a game that can model water like that. Water is the hardest thing to model...because scientists don't fully understand it. It's weird.

Well, we agree to disagree. And after all, we don't know what DiRT 3 will look like visually until we first play it, so there's no point trying to guess.

Yeah, I think it's a case of them showing what they're aiming for. Kind of a cross between concept art and a screencap.

Concept art is all it is, but you have to admit that most of the DiRT 2 concept images looked very close to the final game (especially to the PC version). Can't wait for this if we're getting rain and snow (and nice deciduous forests).

I agree. DiRT 2's graphics were stunning. Not perfect of course, but very good.

Definitely buying this, especially after reading the recent info about more rally stages, classic rally cars and the official WRC licence. In fact, it is almost everything that I said I hoped for in Dirt 3 in an earlier post in this thread :D.

I'm expecting DiRT 3 to be tough competition to WRC 2010.
Having seen the gameplay footage of WRC 2010, I don't think you need to worry - WRC is really quite homogenous. The cars look like they're rooted to the road at all times, and it doesn't look like the roads are any different to one another except for the colour. The backdrops are also pretty bland and repetitive.

Yeah, quite disappointing. We'll have to wait and see. I liked Superstars V8 Racing despite some major issues.

Gamespot's Hands-On review. Release date is May 2011 and it's "nine months out."

It'll be a combination of Dirt 1 and Dirt 2, with lots of rally and the more X-Gamey side of things as well.

Want more tracks? Well, Dirt 3 will have 100 routes.

Lancia Stratos Suzuki Sx3 Hillclimb, Mini Cooper, Ford Fiesta and talks of the Mini Countryman being in the game.

Kenya and a completely redesigned Battersea Power Station will be in the game.

1 new piece of information there: May 2011. I doubt that's correct though, nothing confirmed by Codemasters so GameSpot's guess is as good as everybody else's. One person from the team might've said 'nine months out' but until an announcement, I'm not anticipating any date.
