As long as there is still a good chunk of traditional P2P rallies I don't mind gymkhana being in the game. Hopefully it will draw more people to buy the game and they can be introduced to the madness that is Group B.

Like you I will probably wait until some reviews are out, unless there are some really good pre-order bonuses that is.

Will also look up that documentary.👍

Absolutely cannot wait! The whole Group B part excites me the most!

This "most realistic physics" thing irks me.. every new title will always "have more realistic physics"...but how many games does it take to finally achieve absolute realism?

Where did you hear that? Although dirt2 physics was pretty good, if shift2 can call their game most realistic racing ever, dirt2 can definitely say that with a bit more conviction. If dirt3 goes forward with physics it should be amazing.

Dirt2 is one of the most fun games ever for me (ps3/G27). :) Rally China ... amazing, rally Malaysia .. my favorite.

it's not just this game, but don't you find it strange that with each newly released simulation driving game (or a game that's focused on simulation), people always say something along the lines of "the most realistic game yet", making it sound like the game developers discovered something new about physics never discovered before? Doesn't it make you wonder why they couldn't just perfect it altogether and call it a game with physics absolutely realistic 100%? It never happens as there is always one or two things that wouldn't happen IRL that happens in-game. And the fact that people can easily say a new game feels realistic is just weird. I mean, physics is all in books now, it's not subjective...

I'm hoping we can get our own Dirt sub forum. I'll be creating a dirt2 video thread and maybe somebody can start a dirt2 pictures thread. With more threads maybe the Admins can give us our own Dirt sub forum were we can get excited about dirt3.

I had so much hope for shift2 and it got old really quick. Dirt2 + GT5 are still the games i can come back to every now and have fun, they feel just right.

That's not even close to the money. When people say it's "the most realistic game yet", they mean that the rules of physics are set and that the game is closer to those rules than previous games were.

This looks good, I wasn't a fan of Dirt 2's X-Games style, so it's nice to see them returning to real rallying. That car list is looking tasty, I can't wait to get my hands on those classic rally cars. I loved the Metro 6R4 in Dirt 2, so I'm eager to find out if it's still the same beast I love. :D

Yeah the Metro was awesome in Dirt 2, I'm really looking forward to the original Mini Cooper in Dirt 3.

This is the next hype train, seems like they've reduced the number of trucks. Looking promising.
By the way don't care about the most realistic marketing b***s*** they are telling you, after S2U now every racing game will say that :sly:
EA rules :grumpy:

There is a Dirt 2 pictures thread somewhere already, just before you (or anyone else) create one :sly: give it a search if you're interested 👍.

Edit: Here, not alot of activity in it though.

I know, but don't you find it strange that the improvement is never all that much greater given that all sorts of things IRL have already been figured out, just not implemented into the game?

Like we all know that traction is completely different on tarmac to dirt to snow, how AWDs corner over RWDs, etc.. If we already know all this, then why are certain things not included or accurately portrayed?

I was hoping for a diecast and $200 cheaper lol This is more of a Buy the car, get the game for free lol Is this actually going to be sold in stores? Kinda bummed

It looks like they also toned down that "brown is real" filter. Now it is more acceptable, although still is there. Maybe they are afraid of live colors :odd:

F1 2010 had a very similar look as well, some liked to call it their toilet bowl filter. I don't get it either.

If you're fortunate enough to have the PC version you can get a very nice community developed "realistic sun" mod. Hopefully CM will eventually learn from this that real vibrant colors are actually preferrable to the average human eye .

^^ I really think they continue to do it because they think it's "theirs" or something. Its like a sunset 24/7 in their games. It causes great deal of strain on the eyes though lol As as you pointed out, with the "white/sun" color mods, the game still looks amazing. Maybe at least an option?

I just hope they have some stages with some actual length to them. The stages in the first two games were all fairly short (though there was one in Morocco in DIRT 2 that was actually pretty long and twisty and really quite good).

Length in Dirt 1 was fine because they made up for it with quantity of stages. Dirt 2 has like 12 stages lol slap-in-the-face

All of the interviews and such clearly show they did listen to the fans and are very much going Rally. Even if not as much as we would like.

I think they said about 60% of the game will be rallying. Every other mode will be crammed into the remaining 40%.

I'm just afraid it will be a very short game, because I found a "clean run" of Kenya and Finland stages that I linked to, where the guy concentrates on getting the fastest time he can - and he did the Kenyan stage in under 1min 20sec.

I was worried about the same thing, but they may be deliberately showing only the shortest stages for demo purposes and such. I was hoping for more 3+ minutes at least, the only way to be really covering a long stage on Dirt 2 was run Trailblazer events in the Rally cars (which worked just fine really).

Hopefully you can run any stage in any car (at least online in unranked) just like in Dirt 2 as it effectively increases the number of stages for rally cars and then chuck in a rallycross race for good measure and on track action.

Eventually they will make a stage heavy rally again. In some of the videos they do mention stages being in the 3-4min times so there will be some. I agree, I hope it is a long single player. And i hope multiplayer isn't just a port over of Dirt 2. I would love to see the ability to show fastest lap times by what car, instead of scrolling 200 people down to see next fastest car lol

I'm looking forward to a rally game. For the first time in my life...
Mainly because it has group B, a few of the classics (Cooper S) and the brand new WRC cars. Gymkhana looks good to.

Car list questions Which Quattro is it ?and has there been no sign of the 037 and the S4 ?
