Wanted to get this one started to keep all the wheel settings and issues/complaints, etc. in one place.

To kick off I have to say that from a T300 point of view, so far its not great, the default set-up is far, far too heavy. I've dialed most settings back to around 65-70% to get even close to a reasonable weight on the wheel (rally cars should have light steering - not this unassisted feeling default).

Rolling the settings back to this results in a reasonable weight, but removes almost all feel from the steering.

If I recall we had a similar issue with Dirt Rally at launch, so its disappointing that we are at this point again.

Will follow this thread with interest as it's the one glaring issue with the game at present. Only managed one stage this morning and had no time to attempt to change anything.

It seems to be affecting all wheels on all platforms based on what I've read on steam and reddit.

Given that this hasn't been mentioned in any reviews - including the review by @SlipZtrEm, nor did @Jimmy B mention it in his preview, I'm guessing and hoping that the release version was a different build to the review/preview version, and a FFB bug crept in in the meantime. And not that the guys who got access to the review/preview version were under an NDA saying effectively "Don't mention the FFB".

As it stands now I find the game is playable with the SAT doing it's job, but it's totally lacking in immersion.

Yep. I've lower the setting enough for it to be drivable, but its utterly robbed the wheel of detail.

Oh dear! If that's how a T300 feels then I wonder how it's going to be on a T500.

I’m using a G29 on a PS4 and I found the game completely undriveable at this time. When I turn the wheel, the car barely acknowledges the turning. It’s very frustrating in rally and impossible to do rallycross with it.
I can’t seem to find something in settings to fix this and there’s no descriptions on the setting options, which is strange and disappointing.
Hopefully something that gets patched soon.

Try calibrating the wheel.

When you go to the wheel settings pressing the green triangle will allow you to do the calibration.

When it asks you to turn the wheel fully don’t do that, just turn it 3/4 (270°) of a full rotation and then press X. Follow the rest of the instructions as normal. This should give you a 540° wheel which you’ll find much more responsive. Just be aware that if you really want a true sim then 540° is too small for the historic cars.

It won’t solve the lack of detail in the FFB, but it will get you driving.

That definitely made a difference and got me driving. It still feels different than from Dirt Rally though, I didn’t have to make any adjustments to steering in that game, it seemed to automatically adjust based on the car.

CSL elite on PS4. I turned down the in wheel FOR settings to 60 rest i keep unchanged. The force feedback what the car is doing and how much grip i have is great and countersteering works super. But here comes the but i have ZERO feedback from the surface i driving on. There is no difference on driving on gravel, mud or cobblestones (Poland) everything just feels the same. Also with bumps and jumps there is no extra feedback. I hope this is a bug and there will be a fix soon.

That's pretty much what I get with the G29 - good self aligning torque, but nothing else. Thanks for your comment as it does seem to confirm that the FFB is borked across all wheels - you're the first with Fanatec setup I've heard from.

Hopefully a patch will come through in the coming days.

I’m Fanatec CSW v2 user and have same lack of road feel.

My G29 feels a lot better now. I can actually make corners! Not sure what happened between this morning and now.

G25 via drivehub on ps4 here.

I short calibrated it to 540 degrees, as that is what most cars seems to be having in DR2.

Linearity 100
Saturation between 60 and 70 . 70 for now as it dampens my input.
Soft lock ON . to make use of my calibrated 540 degrees.

feels pretty spot on :)

FFB is the same as everyone else. Not up to DR1 standards

@Scaff , to what rotation degree did you set your T300?

I calibrated my G25 to 540 degrees, that way the physcial wheel matches exactly the thing on screen, which is helpful I find.

Im getting utterly zero feedback pretty much. Tried driving the Stratos with default settings and it was near impossible. :(

I am starting to think there’s something weird going on with Soft Lock. Some cars seem to have proper steering wheel rotation, and others don’t and it also seems to be working at times and not at other times.
The Mini Cooper for instance has acted different for me at different times. Yesterday the rotation of the steering was fine for me, however, this morning, I had to crank the wheel almost all the way around at slow speeds to get the car to turn.
I’m using a Logitech G29 on PS4. Ive done multiple wheel calibrations including following the instructions @Scaff posted, to ensure I’m calibrating properly, however, I’m still getting steering wheel rotations that feel off.
I’d rather not set my wheel for 540 degrees, because I was a big fan of Soft Lock in Dirt Rally - I use a wide selection of cars and it does the work for you for degrees of rotation.

He are my settings for logitech g29, I feel these are 100% better than the standard setup and make a poor frustrating game into an absolute gem

Try my settings above, you need to alter the steering saturation that is what will alter the response or the wheel.

Codemasters aint a clue, it should not even come out like that

Thank you, I will give this a try tonight. I noticed you have Soft Lock set to off. Do you find these settings work across different car classes? Ie, the old 1960s cars?
Also, did you do anything different during the calibration?

I confirm this strange bahaviour in certain cars parts of the game.

I calibrated my g25 to 900 degrees and set saturation to 100. Thanks for @Scaff for the tip to confirm on the calibration menu instead of going back.

Some cars I do feel the soft stop. And then on another track the same car is twitchy and I have to set the saturation to 60 (540 degrees) to get the soft stop that corresponds with the steeringwheel movent. I is just wrong. But once you know it you can bypass it.

Yes it works great with all I have tried. I set it up using the mk2 escort on tarmac as the car was undriveable now it's really improved. 6r4 is brilliant along with the r5 fiesta so should be suitable across the cars as a nice middle ground

Soft lock is not need seems to effect the feel to much especially when sideways. You could dial the settings in per car but i feel this middle ground is plenty good enough now

Calibration wise I just did it normal. Full lock then 90 degree

I’m happy now what a blast is this game :)

Quick guide to wheel setup. Doesn't fix FFB, but does cover one bit that can cause calibration to not be saved, which then screws the soft lock.

Why do you reach 95% only of the total rotation of your t300 on the first calibration step?, if you have set it at 1080º then you must pass the soft lock they added a couple of years back in a firmware to reach full 1080º. Either that or there's something wrong with the calibration tool in this game.

I've been using your settings all evening and they're absolutely spot on.

I'm putting in some seriously fast times now, good job figuring it out, thanks!
