DiRT Rally Thread

Possiably, but its worth keeping in mind that Rally cross is one of the few forms of motorsport in which deliberate contact is allowed.
Yes, I know. I don't mind some door-to-door contacts, but door-to-hood when I'm trying to steer and complete the joker lap is quite frustrating.
I'm currently stuck at the 2nd final in the first championship (S1600 class, Lydden Hill track) and I can't seem to find a way to beat the AI (I play with a DualShock 4 and no assists, by the way).

I've been playing Dirt Rally recently and my radiator has taken a small beating.

I've a question about getting a launch off the line when playing Rallycross 1600s... I'm using a controller, sequential manual.

Is it possible to have a launch that doesn't involve stalling the car? Full rev on "Go" gets you a momentary stall, easing onto the gas will also get you a stall... Is this normal? Is it just this class? I see that AI cars also stall but they don't stall nearly as long... so I'm always starting a solid 4 seconds after everyone.

This does not seem to be the case when I use a Fiesta (or at least the stall isn't as long)

Does the vr version on the ps store require a headset to play it?

Looking at buying it while its on sale but the vr version has all the dlc so would rather buy that but dont have a headset.

Thanks.

I don't think there are any DLC
There actually is.

From the description page:
The DiRT Rally® + PLAYSTATION®VR BUNDLE includes the full DiRT Rally game, the DiRT Rally PLAYSTATION®VR DLC ADD-ON and the three ‘Fully Loaded’ DLC ADD-ON packs – the ‘Ford Pack’, the ‘MINI Pack’ and the ‘Rallycross Pack’.

You can play the game either with or without PSVR, don't worry. It works as a "mode", which you can enable or disable.

I recently purchased this game for my ps4 and man, I really need to step up my rally skills
I have a question, do you have any tips for racing with the rwd rally cars? Which is the easiest to control for an amateur like me? :D

Probably the M3. As for rear wheel Group B, they're honestly about the same stock.

Also if you start sliding, try to go to half throttle instead of lifting off. More stable that way. At least for me.

Very nice, thanks for the tips!

Oh man I just picked that game up and took the Hillclimb Peugeot for spin on the Pikes Peak, in rainy conditions. I already love this game. :dopey:

Can anybody help? My friend messed up the "advanced wheel settings" section and I'd like to get it back to default. Already googled for the default settings but cant find them.. What are the default settings there?

There is a Restore Defaults option on the wheel setttings screen.

Wish there was.. There's only a save/load preset option.

There are two wheel setup screens. You must be referring to the "other one". The easiest way to reset everything is to load the game up with the DS4 and the wheel unplugged. That will reset all wheel settings. Then close the game and plug the wheel in and open the game with the wheel.

Ok, thanks!!

Oh my gawd! This sim is a tough nut to crack. I feel that if I want to be competitive, I will need a sequential shifter and a hand brake. Yikes!
I now have a new found respect for anyone who compete in any form of rally racing. From armature to professional levels.

I agree dopplegagger. Even though this might annoy some track racing fans, but I have respect for rally drivers much more than any track racing drivers; not because I'm disrespectful to anyone but because they really deserve more gratitude and appreciation of their talents. They are simply not appreciated enough.

Just got off the snow with the Escort Mk.2

I find that if I full throttle myself into a turn on 4th (in snow), it will feel unresponsive for a very brief moment- and then oversteer (while counter-steering will have little influence). It feels like you have less control over the car's steering once you hit 4th, but it feels perfectly controllable in 3rd. I also found that one way to avoid the situation where you slide a little too close to snow banks, downshift into 3rd and you're less likely to have the car get its front tire stuck to throw you in circles. I don't know why though, but that's something I've noticed.

I did a 9:30 on the pikes peak, with the Peugeot 405 using manual transmission + clutch. :dopey:
Clutch is awesome when doing the Pikes Peak, if I get understeer in one of the really slow corners and then get turbo lag as well I simply hit the clutch and gas hard, the engine will rev up, the Turbo will spool up and you'll make a nice drift out of the corner.
