Work for it, or pay for it.

  • Damn right I paid for it with real money.

I just hope that much of the DLC is updating the standard car to premium levels, and as such it would just update the ones you already own, and the ones you don't you'd still have to earn them.

I've been playing FM3 for awhile, and I don't mind paying for DLC and then buying the car with in-game credits so long as the cars are priced reasonably. We really don't need to have 25m credit cars in GT5.

The other reason I don't mind paying for DLC in GT5 is because I'd be hoping that PD will test stuff and get it right before release. I just found out that there's yet another DLC bug in FM3.

I'm not sure how I would like to see it implemented to be honest, I could live with both options and I guess it's largely a question of how you perceive that DLC.
If you regard them as cars you pay for with real money I guess it's logical to some to expect them to be available immediately after downloading them into the game.
Or you might regard the content as an add-on to extend gameplay and therefore expect to treat them as any other car included already to buy or unlock in the game.
Again, I don't really mind what option they choose, as long as the game gets updated once in a while with new cars, tracks or other content.

I think they should be available in Arcade but have to be bought/won in GT mode. The thing is, there are a lot of problems that could potentially arise with DLC, pay or free. It could really send the online out of whack. They would have to match people who have the DLC, disable it completely, include it in a software update but keep it locked, or the worst option of using a placeholder car for the people without the DLC. I would hate not being able to race against someone just because one of us doesn't have the DLC. That is my biggest concern, not how soon you can use the car and where.

That could easily be solved with an update making new cars of opponents visible online to those who haven't got the DLC cars themselves I guess.

Yea, the option that makes the most sense is to include everything in an update and have it unlock with a code or something, that is if they charge money for the DLC. It would all be moot if the DLC was free and incorporated into an update instead of a separate download.

DLC:
Standard ---> Premium
New Cars ---> to buy from manufacturer

Additions to the PSP in the form of cars were for free, I hope that GT5 will be like it.

But I'd rather like convert standards to premiums, and new tracks instead of new cars. We have more than 1000 so I think that would be enough. Personally I prefer the tracks.

It depends. If they're substantially faster than most cars in the game, then I don't think you should be able to buy your way to more trophies or a better online ranking or whatever. But if you're just talking about a theme package of cars with fairly normal performance, then just give me what I paid for. Making me earn the money for them in-game would be fairly trivial anyway.

If they have DLC, I will most likely be buying it. Whether it is a bundle of tracks, cars, or both. For cars, I say you still have to buy them from the dealer. If they make it this way, they should at least have a free sample pack to download for those who do not purchase the actual DLC bundle so they can see the car in online mode. From what I hear, if you don't do this on Forza, the car you see is an all blacked out car. Not sure how true that is.

Supercar types earned as long as hey add new challenges, as for online you can use them agaist people who have them, can't against people who don't.

I don't see a reason to separate them as it's not like there will be an all out killer of the track, no matter what they put in there will be competitors we already have.

If I didn't get the DLC and was racing online and let's say a Alfa Tipo drives past, I would be in awe and want to buy it off of PSN myself. It would tie into real life to me of seeing a rare car driving down your street and thinking "meee want".

I agree!!

I would never pay for DLC cars.
There are more than enough to satisfy my needs already in the game

Sorry to quote big pic but.. What a car!

How could I've missed it for all these years? I didn't even know of it's existence until now.

The Tipo 33 Stradale is one of the most beautiful cars ever build in my opinion, you should check this video in an absurdly down to earth supermarket carpark location, sorry for going off-topic.

To get back on topic, wouldn't mind paying for this car as DLC....:)

This would be my idea of DLC for GT5:

1. As always, cars must be present in everyone'ss game data (installed data), so that everyone could race against each other seeing their DLC cars during race.

2. Car packs must be provided as game updates, maybe every 3 months, regularly deployed. (Assuming that a premium car needs 1 months to be made, a good pack should inlcude a premium supercar, and 3 to 4 standard cars). I don't know the "weight" in MB of a GT5 car, but today is really easy to find game updates up to 150MB each..

3. Every DLC car MUST BE A NEW MODEL! Real ones, younger than 6 months from the real manufacturer release, and possibly not always the n-th model of a skyline.. (great car anyway).

4. Newly downloaded cars (came secretely with the game update) would be then available:
- some to be purchased in manufacturers showrooms via PS-store code/real cash
- some with just regular game credits
- some as secret prizes for new competitions (obtained again with standard game upgrade)

:D

Some cars should be paid DLC that you can just buy or use. Others, like the X1, should have to be earned by completing so much of the game or achieving certain goals.

The cars bought as DLC should not just be added to your garage. When you download them, they should be mixed in with the cars from the same dealer. For example: a new BMW from the DLC would go straight to the BMW dealer in the game. Not your garage. I would still rather pay for them in game and earn them.

Number 3 is a bad one. Sure new cars would be great, but there are a lot of older cars that should be included.

Exactly. Porsche could be one. Let's say PD got the liscense but only did brand new ones. What about the classic 'ducktailed' 911s? The recent, but not under 6-months-old 911s and Boxters, etc. The Cayenne, the Panamera? None of these would be included.

959, 944 and 964 sod the new stuff :dopey:

If I spent my hard earned PSN cash on cars,It should make its way directly into my garage,But I would still be willing to work for the cars.

Pardon my ignorance, but wasn't this game not going to have DLC? So whats up with the codes for cars from preordering from Amazon/the collector's edition?

Are they already in the game and these codes would unlock them without having to use credits or is it regular DLC?

This game will REALLY need DLC after 6 months of playing due to the lack of customization, tracks with dynamic weather/time, and the Premium car list.

i paid for it but i dont want it directly in my garage, i want buy it from the dealer

dont know its been posted before, i posted that in a another thread, but with no action,

has anyone a newer official information or interview with kaz about dlc

Nice find, but I doubt that it's real. It would be kind of cool though to have bikes in the game, so long as they can't be raced against 4 wheeled vehicles, imo.
