DLC in GT5???

That would be a far too much reasonable pricing. In the real world, those DLC would end up being 1-2 dollars/euro per car, 3-5 dollars/euro per track.

Free patches for what you listed, though, seem plausible to me.
^ It would be a good thing, multiply those USD$.01-$2.00 by the million of GT5 players and it would make a lot of perfect sense. GT5 IS a console-selling game after all. :)

See now thats a good price range! i hate it when developers charge so much for DLC! (COD:MW2) 20 bucks for 3 levels and one of them being a level from the past COD..

👍
If priced as you suggested, i would buy all of it in a heartbeat... i think this is fair enough! Multiply this by a few millions downloads, and that should largely cover the expenses for a DLC team within PD.

Even my engineering company is not making that much money for working that hard.
^ The offset would be in Sony/PD's favor if they would implement it. :)

~> I wish, I could be PD's Marketing Strategist and Automtive/Race Course consultant. :sly:

And i agree with the Batangas Racing Circuit, because I'm from the Philippines and I've raced there a few times, it is indeed an underrated racetrack
^ I hate you...you lucky basterd. Ang swerte mo, gago! :grumpy:

j/k :sly:

Since this is a thread about DLC, i was thinking.. Sony should make GT1 and GT2 downloadable on PSN, like they did with final fantasy! GT1 and GT2 ARE classics right?
^ I so definitely agree and still waiting for that very moment for PSN to sell it. :indiff:

-> And yes GT1 & GT2 are Console Classics...no... Playstation's Hall of Fame!!! :scared: :dunce:

I'm undecided.. I would vote 'Yes' but only if the DLC would be improving on an already complete game, not completing an in-complete game. I am expecting when I pop the disc in the slot to see everything promised, and I mean everything. If not, it's a no.

Couldn't agree more.

Maybe they can't finish some tracks before the release, than it's okay to offer them later as DLC.

Paying a small fee for a track is not a problem either.
What would be a fair price for a track like Spa?

oh well, that's really cheap I think.
I think 4.99 or something like that will be asked.

And Yes, I would buy it(Spa).

You're probably closer than me.. although I would offer a car and a track as a package..

For example:
Silverstone Circuit and a Touring Car, perhaps the Integra Type-R. Could be around £2.99-£4.99.

There is no way we would get that kind of DLC at that price The Vanishing Boy, sorry. It takes 3-6 months to build each of those cars. Think about the salaries and resources needed for all those cars and tracks. Some people here are saying multiply that by the millions that buy GT.............that's very unrealistic to think they will all buy the DLC. A reasonable number would be 10-15% will buy DLC. The game has a ton of content as it is. A pack like that would cost atleast $6.99 US. Rock Band DLC costs as much as the songs to on iTunes. A full album costs as much as it does in store, if not a bit more. I'd expect a single car would sell as DLC for $0.99 or $1.99. They would have to be premium though. New courses maybe $2.99-$4.99 depending on the detail, size, and the impression it has with fans.

:ouch:

Look at what Microsoft has done recently with Forza3.
That's also "thanks" to people who will buy everything no matter the cost.

I definitely would like down loadable content, I think it greatly increases the life span of a game. They only problem I have with it is that Sony's DLC is often a little expensive. For example, in the PlayStation store things rarely go on sale and are often slightly more expensive then they would be in other markets, like Steam.

If the PlayStation store was more like Steam with pricing, and especially sales, I would love it.

Why GT5 no have a DLC?? almost all console games has, if not its like back 10 years!!

I would buy tracks and some cars but not too much. A track pack better not be as much as a COD map pack thou because then I'd be sad.

DLC would be nice, but PD's modeling work of cars and tracks costs a bunch and accordingly they would probably charge us a great deal of money for them. I'm a bit on the fence on this, as I am quite happy with GT5's content as it is.

I have pre-ordered from Play.com and beneath the section on the free 'Stealth cars' it says "Cars may be made available as DLC through PSN at a later date" so it seems that at least downloadable cars is possible.

If the DLC is free, then I'll be happy to have the additional things. However if I'm asked to pay for DLC then I feel like I'm trying to be robbed. I've already bought the game once and don't want to then have to hand over more money. So if anything, I'd rather they hold back and release anything new in GT6. Besides, if they keep releasing new things as DLC for GT5, what will they have left for when GT6 comes around?

DLC is not always a good thing.
For some developers (yes, I am looking at you EA), DLC is just a means of getting more money out of the original release. Releasing 'car packs' almost directly after the release of a game means you have been holding that content back. It should have been in the original game, and if there wasn't something like DLC it would have been in the original game. In this case, DLC screws the end user.

For others it means that they actually develop content after they released the game and make more money then. For the end user, this DLC is a great thing and allows for a relatively cheap way to make a game last longer.

So, PD could have said: Sure, there will be DLC. Everybody would be happy and no one would notice the twenty cars missing in the original lineup. They could then release those 20 cars in 4 packs, 3.99 a pack and make a nice bit of money out of it. I'd rather have a full game without DLC than this fake DLC.

How about something similar to Burnout Paradise?

They sold most cars in packs so lets say you had a 6 car pack that cost £5:00-ish, each car would be available for £1:00. This means that if there was a car I really wanted in the pack, I could buy it with some leftover money I have on my PSN account. The full pack would still give a saving too.

It's not just about fake DLC.

What about car's manufactured after the game has released?

Indeed, for this reason alone I was hoping DLC would play a significant role in GT5 as it would be the first proper GT-title where the cars included weren't the final selection and to the type of game GT is, with a large selection and variety of cars, and due to the long lifespan of any GT-game having the prospect of new additions when new cars get released in real life made perfect sense to me.
Apart from the whole pricing argument and no doubt cynical marketing strategies used to offer DLC in general, if there's one type of game which could make good use of DLC, then it's a game with replicated real life content which in real life gets updated and replaced during the lifespan of that game.

I'd really like to see manufacturer packs get released in the future. Let's say a pack of special edition cars that had been announced and built after the car list and stuff had been planned. Not only that, but what about cars they may have started, but never finished? Kaz has always said he always wants to add more more more. Also, since development of GT6 has started, maybe we could get a few things shared into GT5 as well. Let's say some of the early car models could be built appropriately for both games and released as DLC for GT5.

Dont forget when the DLC just activate content already in the game you has bought!!!:ouch:

Edit: like SF4

Not necessarily, remember the Evora, California and Citroën GT we got as DLC in Prologue? They weren't in the game as these cars were just released in real life ( and weren't around when Prologue was released ).
If PD are still modelling certain cars at the moment they also aren't already in the game, if they were they wouldn't be still busy modelling them now would they?

i wouldn't mind DLC, but what i wouldn't mind even more is the game itself.

one of my problems with forza3 was that the tracks dlc wasn't incorporated into season play. i can understand it's not so easy to code it in, but at least include some new challenges incorporating newer tracks. or in forza's example, an additional season. hopefully if PD does release tracks dlc, they'll have the foresight to do something like that.

as far as cars, if they go with additional cars, it would be nice to open that up to fans of the game. they pick a bunch of cars that they're interested in doing, and we vote on them. X amount that receives the most votes, become the next DLC. it's easier to do it this way instead of us recommending cars because we don't know what kind of licensing restrictions they may be working with.

Or maybe they can continue transforming popular standard cars to premium.

Why wouldn't you want extra content? more cars, more tracks, more styling options etc etc. Bring it!..... and since they delayed the game, it would be nice if the first couple of DLC's were free :)

I'd hope there is some free DLC available as compensation. Maybe a few free cars, some additional challenges in the special schools and challenges area.

If (big IF, hoping there won't be any at all) there will be paid DLC to be offered for free as a compensation for the delay, I really hope they won't appear until at least 6 months-1 year since the game release date. Any less would be a clear sign PD held back them to milk cash-cows/players. Of course, GT5P-like free DLC is very much welcome anytime.

Sorry, just had to counterbalance users who are are already resigned, or worse, willing to pay more right after the release date.
