DLC in GT5???

I think DLC should be free and sponsored by manufacturers. So we could have the Mazda 2010 car pack, the Chevrolet 2010 car pack available for free. The cars would be added to the available car in the game, not to your garage.

This is brilliant, especially considering the main reason the US ever got cars like the Evo and the WRX STi is because of Gran Turismo. 👍

Here's what I'd dream for DLC's after all their manditory updates:

Japanese mountain paths (street)
European mountain paths (street/rally)
North and South American mountain paths (street/rally)
Customization pack (driver, car, layout, etc)
Additional Circuit Tracks

oh man.. I can only dream

DLC of a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Mclaren MP4-22 and MP4-25, and Red Bull RB3 and RB6...
Hopefully

I have no problem with DLC and actually looking forward to getting some for GT5.

ohhh my first post on GT Planet, evening all :)

Would anyone else like to see a Mk1 Escort of a Sierra Cosworth?? Absolute classic cars.....much better than the Focus ST170 that i have just purchased!!

Does DLC have to be paid for? How about Free DLC? I paid for the game, sometimes that should be enough. Ill pay for certian things though.

Yes, I would. There are a lot of truly classic cars that were curiously left out of the game. Aparently to make room for more skylines, civics, integras and NSXs.

I just won the Advanced Go Karting championship tonight and am half way in on my WRC championship, and it got me thinking. The best dlc for me, would be if GT5 release a mini championship for WRC, Nascar and Go Karting etc

So dlc 1 is like a 10 round Go Karting championship which can be played offline or online. My dream would be indoor go karting tracks, but I think that would take too much work.

dlc 2 is a 2011 WRC pack which has an event for each round of the new season. Doesn't have to be official, just if road 1 in the real WRC is snowy then the dlc pack round 1 is a level in the snow etc I would love this, you can save after each race so points total up.

For me this type of dlc would be the best, premium cars would be awesome, but there are so many already I would rather dlc was these mini championships.

Australia also need pre-paid PSN cards, unless a MasterCard gift card will work, which I will be trying shortly.

My brother in law has used an MC giftcard in the states and it worked with no problems. Hopefully it's the same down under.

So you say that GT5 we have on is just a public beta? :scared:
Definitely yes. Features that were supposed to be in the game since the release date are missing, others are crippled, and in general the game doesn't feel as polished as previous titles. We're doing the betatesting work, I think.

OK, from what i understand about DLC its stuff you have to pay for after the game has been released...in my book that was always called an update which never required i part with my hard earned cash AFTER i had parted with hard earned cash to buy the stinking game in the first place!

now that rant is out of the way...anyone care to explain to me what DLC is currently available, and how much for.

thanks.

DLC = Downloadable Content.
Whether you have to pay for it or not has nothing to do with it being DLC.

None are available for GT5 at the moment.

If you want to read more about it, here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downloadable_content

AH!

i got what DLC means thanks.

i was starting to get the impression that ALL "add-ons" (what i mean by "all add-ons" is additional tracks and cars and does not mean freebies such as game updates/patches and fixes) to GT5 would have to be paid for...or was i right the first time round?

thanks for the link.

edit, after reading the last part of that link, i had no idea such downright fraud and disdain of a platforms customer base existed in company's like MS and LucasArts.

Pay for DLC??? i'll eat my own faeces before i pay for DLC!

so my answer is not no...its HELL NO!!!!!!! 🤬

Digital Liberty Coalition? Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport? Democratic Leadership Council? Development life cycle? Diamond-like carbon? Driver License Compact? Dual-listed company? Delocalized coordinates? Downloadable content? Data Length Code? Data Link Control? Desktop Linux Consortium? Digital loop carrier?

Note to self: don't expect everyone to know the acronyms!

Everyone knows what dlc means in this context.

most of the time DLC means more money for greedy developers by asking consumers to give em another 10, 15, 20 bucks for something that should of already of been in the game. So i say no I want them to continuously update the game for free.

Iwould gladly pay for a pack that makes all 1960-1970 Musclecars premium.

I would allso gladly pay for more 1960s Mustangs and other musclecars from that eara.

some people have more money than brains which is why company's will exploit its customers and only encourages the release of half and unfinished games.

not spending your money sends the message you are not a fool to be exploited.

:odd::rolleyes: Even if we take JUST the premium cars, there are more vehicles in GT5 than just about any other racing game for the PS3 that I can think of. How much do you guys want? Well, whatever. Personally, I would happily pay for additional tracks and possibly a few car packs if they had something interesting.

thanks for supporting my argument that people like you who have more cash than brains deserve to be exploited 👍 :dopey:

We bought a game for the normal price that has 5 x the amount of cars compared to most other racing games, PD or Sony has yet to speak about DLC for GT5 and you're talking about being exploited? Please. Does it occur to you that we actually think DLC is a good idea? And that we don't have a problem with it? And that we don't consider it being 'exploited'? If the game sold with 5 cars and 1 track and you were then forced to buy every car or track you wanted, I would agree with you. But considering all the content PD included on the disc, I think you're just a cheapskate. :sly:

Hmmm.... though I don't have this game yet (Christmas!) I have to agree with JJ here.

Once the game is stable, DLC must be introduced both from a user pov and that of PD/Sony's finance model.

For example, many people seem to be moaning there aren't enough Premium cars... I like to think of it, say for instance, like the SingStar model. You get the basic package (i.e. 20 songs) and if you want more value-added features (i.e. new song releases) then one must pay for that privilege. How amazing will it be for the car you wanted as Premium but wasn't included in the initial release to be available to buy at a later date? I say brilliant!

In respect of the 'public beta' argument, casting my mind back to pre-release, I wonder how many people out there would have preferred to have the game in their hands and playing it, even if a few of the features were supposedly missing/faulty - or would they rather wait another 6 months/1 year to receive a more finished, polished product. Sony had waiting long enough for this flag-ship release and business/money-wise/PS4-wise could not wait any longer. Personally (and granted this may be because I am new to the GT series) I will be happy to watch the game evolve via patches (and hopefully, DLC).

(That said, I think Sony/PD need to sort their communication out big time - they could clear so many things up instantly with just a weekly dev diary or something) - look how well recieved Kaz's tweets have been.

Like I say, although I don't have the game yet and am new to the world of console car-sim's and the GT series (but long-time PC sim'er), it appears to me that GT5 is *massive* in terms of size - and compared to some other titles out there, it's an absolute snip at £40 (or lower!) for the bog-standard disc.

As someone (like many others) who will be juggling GT5 and house/wife/kids/work/beer etc, I hope to be satisfied with the level of content in the game - with the advent of DLC so I can choose if/what to 'upgrade' then I, for one, will be 'well happy' ! :)

i would agree with you that i am being "cheap", if it were not for the fact that GT4 had more events than 5. what's the point of a game like GT5 having 200+ cars more than its predecessor if it has fewer tracks and events?

the point i am trying to make with DLC as far as GT5 is concerned is this, i would sooner buy an expansion pack than DLC for a few simple reasons...

on the plus side and to name only 2 valid reasons.
if my console ever dies its either a repair job or new console, either way i still have the additional content.

i can resale it if i ever decide i no longer need/want the content or a new pack comes out.

on the downside,
DLC from what i understand has neither of those options, you pay, you D/L, if your machine dies and is beyond repair you lose the content...is that correct?

if the DLC is made in such a way that you can burn it to disc (along with whatever protection to stop pirating is fine by me) so i have something concrete in my hand, or i can save it to my PN account and D/L at will then i have no problem with DLC. if i cant do that then i refuse to pay for DLC.

edit, and just for the record...i am FAAAAAR from "cheap", but i do have a problem if i feel i am being ripped off, which is exactly how i will feel if DLC is not done in such a way that i only pay once regardless of how many times i need to D/L it.

As I already said. My pockets can get very deep because of DLCs.

Bring them on PD! I want to spend my money with you!

Hell yeah. More tracks, specialty car packs, that sort of thing. I'd buy it immediately.

Koenigsegg, Gumpert Apollo, Lamborghini Diablo, lots of stuff they could add.
