Do you suspect the 600+ cars will have interior?

I'll post this once.

I've posted this suggestion many pages before but you make this self-explanatory! 👍

I'm with mykem and JDMKING13 on this being the best expanation as well.
Dashboard, or cockpit view as we know it from Prologue, does not equal fully modelled interior.

All cars will have dashboard view. Only 200 racing cars will have fully modelled interiors as below.

Posted this in the Eurogamer E3 thread:

Regardless of what this "interior" actually means, personally I believe that all cars will have cockpit views. The difference I think is the kind of view you would get in the replay. The full interior view of premium cars would come with mutiple-angle views. Just like these few videos from mimaximax:

It makes sense that it would have taken a lot more time and effort to recreate all the details in the car as well as the animation. Cockpit views on the other hand is not as demanding. There were already more or less 60 cars in GT5P that have cockpit views. It's inconceivable that only 140 or so car are added on top of that.

I'm sure that some would disagree and would prefer the interior=cockpit argument but hopefully someone will get the right info from PD in the next few days.

From the Gamespot and IGN Previews, I think it's safe to say that the difference in the premium and standard models is in the level of DETAIL on the interiors. There is no mention of a missing cockpit view. Expect all the cars to have cockpit view, but 800 of them to be a standard preset model.

By "standard preset" do they mean like all the GT PSP cars?

The "premium" cars cars will have full interiors/ALL the bells and wistles and more than like be able to get damaged like the outside, while the "standard" cars interior won't get damaged and are not as detailed

They didn't say 'standard preset', that is just my personal interpretation from what was actually said in those previews. I'm thinking something along the lines of a plainly modeled cockpit not particular to each individual car.

This makes the most sense to me. I can't imagine KY would release the game with 4/5 of the cars without an interior

I don't think they will. Reading the eurogamer article it seems to say that only the premium cars have interiors.

http://nzgamer.com/ps3/previews/862/gran-turismo-5-eyes-on.html

This seems to agree

"Although all of the cars are perfectly modelled, the premium cars offer little extra touches of detail that the standard cars don't. For example, only the premium cars have fully recreated interiors and the standard cars aren't designed to take structural damage in crashes. Asking why this was the case, Kazunori honestly replied that it was simply down to the painstaking amounts of time it takes to re-create them all. When you see the level of detail, it's amazing they were able to do even 200 of them."

They're all saying different things.........................

👎👎👎👎
They all seem to be saying the same thing to me, just in slightly different ways. I'm actually pretty confident now that all cars will have cockpit view in some fashion.

Yeah.

We've heard "no interior", "less detailed interior", "all will be perfectly modeled but the premium to have the little extra". It's confusion followed by more confusion.

The old Muscle cars in the E3 demo are supposedly standard models.

All this takes is one little video clip of the cockpit view in one of these standard cars, and this whole argument will go away...

I haven't seen one that says 'no interior'. So to review:

Gamespot says "unlike the 800-plus "standard" cars, these will feature meticulously detailed interiors"

IGN says: "The Premium cars, of which there are more than 200, will have all those features plus fully rendered interiors and true damage modeling."

GamerAccess says: "The premium cars will have greater details in pretty much all aspects, including the vehicle's undercarriage and dashboard."

Kotaku says: "The developers have created fully modeled interiors for the Premium cars, as well as doing detailed modeling for the car's undercarriage and even the exhaust pipes!"

They say premium. Which then contradicts what I just posted. UGH! SO CONFUSING!

Except they're listed as premium in said demo as seen on GTP's youtube account.

From Kotaku:

Now that is more promising.
Yet something completely different from what we've heard before, and doesn't make sense at all.

It's just now getting ironic. But it's journalists in a nutshell, isn't it? They hear what they want to hear (or think they hear), and then claim it to be fact.

They are all saying the exact same thing. Sure it's not as clear as we would like, but the reports are not contradicting each other.

By the definition of premium models the cars in GT5P can't be classed as such.

They don't feature fully detailed interiors, engine detail, under car detail or detachable panels yet they still do have cockpits.

Ah yes, indeed. Every car in the demo is premium. This complicates things further.

I wonder where I heard that the muscle cars were standard then

I don't think that point is valid... They could have implemented the modelled interiors after Prologue.

However, do was all seriously think that the Suzuki Swift, Capuccino, the Daihatsu Copen etc. from Prologue are all premium cars?

I feel this argument is stupid. Cockpit view was confirmed a long time ago, and every car will have been modelled over the course of time with that in mind.

On the other hand, the same could also be said of many posters on GTP regarding this standard/premium matter.

From Eurogamer:

The premiums have been lavished with a slightly worrying amount of detail - every single screw is visible in the hubs, the interiors have been recreated down to the stitching (standard cars won't have interiors, which is a bit sad, but there are, like, 800 of them

To me that pretty much wraps up that interiors are talking about inside the cabin/cockpits of cars.

And from IGN:

That goes for the interiors of the Premium cars as well. Kazunori showed the interior of a GT500 race car, complete with harness, switches and wiring.

Again interiors on premium cars talking about things that would be in the drivers area.

I think that pretty much clears up what the interiors are he is talking about.

And since it's pretty much across the board that only premium cars will have panel damage and deformation, it makes sense they will get enginees and undercarrages modeled and standard ones won't (since you woudn't ever see under the hood anyway).

That's true, although some cars in GT5P are premium as well, such as the Ferrari F40 and the other cars on which you can see the engine.

This is what I received in an email from the author of the Kotaku article:

"The premium cars have that specific cars interiors. The standard cars have a car's interior, but not specific per se. For example, the Enzo has the Enzo's interior. However, the Mustang probably just has an interior."

IMO bad news. :(

All 1000 cars will have cockpit, premium models will just have better visuals. majority of us have pretty good education. lets just think GT5 has been in 5year development GT5P featured about 70 cars. So you think PD only made 130 cars with cockpits? not only that your going to tell me that FM3 has 400+ cars with cockpit and GT5 only has 200 Cmon!!!! i know i have no credibility on GTP but i do have a good education and i will put my ps3 up to anybody GT5 will have cockpit for those standard cars.
