i saw in a few threads people saying they changed the oil and it gave the car extra hp?

should i have done this before i started driving the car, or can i still increase it by changing it now?

nope, just after you've thrashed the nuts off it and the oil's gone all yucky.

Actually I can tell you honestly that giving you car an oil change will boost its HP. There is a trick to this though.

It will only work if the car has not been driven. Like when you buy a car before you do anything give it oil change. It will raise the HP. It raises the HP of some cars more than others. Either way no matter what your car will get an HP boost. :)

 Really????

Wow.

I apologise.

I've got a couple in my garage that haven't been driven. Gunna have a go in a minute.

It is ok slip2rock. We are all idiots. You just were more of one in your last post. j/k. :p I found out not to long ago about this either. We both I guess you can say are newbies to the HP trick. ;) :)

Yep I had PAL Polyphony 001, 7 hundred something bhp horsepower and then 829 bhp after an oil change :smilewink

ALso, if u want...you can fully mod it and then give it an oil change and it will still boost hp. I usually do this because if it boosts it a certain percantage it will be boosted higher. But i'm not sure if it is percantage..so.

so the answer is it does boost.

It seems to boost HP about 5%, assuming the car has never been driven. I suppose it would work at the same 5% on a modified but undriven car. I never mod a car before I drive it, though; I like to see the stock characteristics first.

I didn't figure this out until about 15-20% into the game, so some of my cars are down a few HP.

yeeah i agree with all...once u get a new car..change/buy the parts to upgrade hp if any..then change ur oilk..it should go up like anywhere from 10-50hp

Someone would have to try it and see, but I think it only boosts HP by 5% of the stock number. I don't think it does include the mods.

My first decent car was the Corvette Z06, but I couldn't afford to fully mod it before the oil change, and the max HP I ever reached was 799. It's since dropped to 795. I decided to go ahead and try a new Z06, fully mod it, and then do the oil change, and it was above 800HP.

On some cars... the HP actually goes up as you drive it. Two cars I know that work this way are the Corvette Z06, and the Mazda Miata LS. The quick and easy way is to race some test tracks. Don't change the oil after every race, I got the Z06 up to 811HP before I got tired, and quit the game without saving. The Miata LS was totally stock (for the endurance race), I think I saw a max HP of like 167 or so.

Not all cars gain HP as you drive them though, only a very few.

To get max HP generally:
Buy car new, mod HP to the max, and then change oil before putting any miles on it. Most cars don't lose HP until about 500-1000 miles I've found. Generally the cars with turbos lose a bit after 500, and NA cars lose at about 1000. The Mazda Rx-7 has a max HP of 709, at about 500 mine started losing HP, it's down to like 702 now.

Yeah, It give the car some more HP between 10-40 extra HP depending on what car it is

You can also gain 1% extra horsepower by driving a brand new car :gcar: over a certain distance... :D
