Does your car tell you when it needs an oil change?

I usually change the oil when i think it has been a while since i've changed it. Usually, when i go to change the oil, it's fine. So does your car tell you when to change the oil?

Two ways to know if your oil needs changing: the bhp starts to drop and the color of the oil starts to darken in the oil change screen.

Oh yeah, the oil light too. But does that come on as an idiot light (it comes on only after it really needs a change badly) or just at the right time?

When you pay close attention you can see that the hp drops (between 5 - 30).
I don't know if the red 'change oil' light lights up, i haven't seen it after i performed an oil change

*edit: it took a long time for me to write this

Yeah the oil light comes on in the hud

True, but you will have lost horsepower before the light comes on. If you want to keep your car it top-HP shape, just keep an eye on the horsepower and when it starts to go down, delta oil.

Hm..thanks guys. however, i think the oil change to restore hp is just temporary. Won't your car eventually need an engine rebuild? I think my x1 does because the oil change isn't restoring the power, I don't have enough power to get to 7th gear -______-

Eventually all cars will need an engine rebuild, then another, then another. Eventually the car will permanently start to lose power that oil changes and engine rebuilds won't replace.

Also, oil changes are included in engine rebuilds.

This has been discussed before. The search button is your friend.

that sucks that the cars will permantly lose power..

This is really nothing new, and as long as you are in a fair race the small amout you might lose off of the peak BHP won't make a difference.

What?! My X1 will eventually lose hp and never be normal again!? Why would they do that for cars we can't really replace?!

I gotta earn the $20 million and buy 5?!!!!!

I really hope that you're being sarcastic.

You're X2010 will be fine. I'm pretty sure you'll never drive it enough to where it could possibly lose enough power to keep you from winning any race that this game offers. Unless you're going to enter an ultra-competetive RedBull X2010-only racing series, your grind machine will survive.

EDIT: IceGT Nailed it in the post below mine.

The permanent HP loss isn't that serious in most normal cars. It only makes a big difference in cars with High amounts of power. My Alfa Romeo Sprint GTA 1600 with 80 miles on it fully tuned has 239 HP, the one I bought out of the UCD with 200,000 miles on it fully tuned after the engine rebuild has 231 HP it only lost 8 HP permanently after 200k miles a loss of 3.5% of it's max power. So I'm assuming that most cars will only lose about 3.5% of their max power at that mileage. That's not too bad, plus how many of us are actually going to put 200k miles on their favorite cars! I also just did an engine rebuild on my X2010 with 47k miles on it It's HP now is 1531 that is a permanent loss of 25 HP for the 1556 HP it has with a new engine that is broken in, or a loss of 1.6% The power loss is not that severe that any of us should really worry about it. Drive the cars you like and enjoy them. I doubt you'll really notice the missing HP.

It takes a long time for that oil lamp to light up. I did a 24 hour race (having an engine rebuild, oil change included, and a chassis rebuild before the race) in an LMP car and it took about 23 hours for that lamp to go on. So, I really wouldn't rely totally on that lamp light. Just use good judgement.
