The permanent HP loss isn't that serious in most normal cars. It only makes a big difference in cars with High amounts of power. My Alfa Romeo Sprint GTA 1600 with 80 miles on it fully tuned has 239 HP, the one I bought out of the UCD with 200,000 miles on it fully tuned after the engine rebuild has 231 HP it only lost 8 HP permanently after 200k miles a loss of 3.5% of it's max power. So I'm assuming that most cars will only lose about 3.5% of their max power at that mileage. That's not too bad, plus how many of us are actually going to put 200k miles on their favorite cars! I also just did an engine rebuild on my X2010 with 47k miles on it It's HP now is 1531 that is a permanent loss of 25 HP for the 1556 HP it has with a new engine that is broken in, or a loss of 1.6% The power loss is not that severe that any of us should really worry about it. Drive the cars you like and enjoy them. I doubt you'll really notice the missing HP.
