well its all about getting a better angle for the exit by drifting. it alows u to accelerate sooner thus increasing exit speed

well if you take a look at the links below me... i think we have run on slicks and t8's... both are open... i guess i should go back and change that... niether are closed... have fun... you can do whatever you want...as long as its within th3e rules

T8 is super soft tire right, damn sorry i forgot about it, but if its super soft, then i will have a time to post on

Yes it is... i believe super softs were only used on the first one so far... but i plan on doing every race with super softs and super slicks and maybe even sims

hey thanks, humm damn cant remember whats LFS is, can you guys just spell the whole thing out, cause im kind of lost, not knowing the tracks, well i think imma battle Sheron with super soft tire drifting, damn havent play GT3 for awhile now, i better start setting for grip setting and battle Akina next week, or do another Twin drift D1 style

justfolow the directions i set night drifter... there is no special process... all that must be done is honest submission of times and sectors and speeds and such... the directions show you what you must enter...

Does it matter if Grip is Faster or vice versa.
I don't think it should be competitive, it just waters down drifting all together.

No, you're right, it doesn't really matter, but some of us were curious anyway and so we discussed it in the most strict terms. Later everyone else sort of jumped in and started raising all these questions that have already been answered so that's why the last few pages are all fluff. Oh well :)

if your faster drifting, drifting is faster.
if your faster grip, grip is faster.

just cause someone says this or someones says that doesnt mean its a theory

It's really quite simple folks. Just find the fastest guy/girl here (probably the time trials because then you eliminate the possibility of better car/setup/etc) and ask him/her if they drift or grip. That will tell you which style is the absolute fastest (unless of course he/she says they do both :D ).

ask preg already said, Grip is Fast, but no advantage, Drift is slow, but it has an advantage.. remeber, drifting is not about speed, it's about style and control..

I get that drifting is fun. It is indeed about style and control, not speed. However, if you look waaaaaay back at the name of this thread, the subject is what is FASTER? Grip or drift? That is what I was answering.

The answer is that knowledge is faster the art of knowing when to grip and knowing when to drift . Neither style is "faster" but the combination itself is the fastest way around a track on GT3 and in real life what would happen if a rally driver decided to grip around every corner? or if nascar saw D1 and went for feint drifts all day ... well both styles of racing would parish from low times..think about it ...drift is a evolution in driving as far atouge downhills like seen in Initial D ... well ive studied tons of option and option2 videos and they basically are rallying DOWNHILL on pavement which in return will make you faster...so the answer is combined the styles and you will be faster..

i give up... there is no point to this thread any longer because the arguement has degenerated and most newbies refuse to read threads prior to posting...

The sad thing is a once great and interesting thread has become a wasteland... a place where i once loved to return has become a place where i say something like the above post... something i rarely do

It read through a bunch of this thread, and every post is lmost 100% the same. Drifting is great fun, shows driver skill, but it is alot of the time slower. Grip is faster, but to alot of people seems easier. Some corners are quicker drifted, some are quicker gripped. Same stuff over and over..

lol... i would suggest reading where i perg and tailo were arguing... In general these are the longer posts...

I know but its all the same, or at least it processes as the same thing in my head. Not that I lose sleep over which is quicker. I just dont see the point in arguing over it. Debating over it, which ever. It seems like a kinda obvious question to me. If I wanna go fast around a track, I'll grip. If I wanna have an awesome time, and fool around, I'll drift. Yes, I admit, drifting can be quicker around certain corners. But like what? 80% of the time, grip is alot faster. And 80% of the time, drifting owns grip in enjoyablily. If you make a grip car, with say a random # of hp. Lets say 600. Grip car with 600 Hp. And then you make a drift car with 600 hp. You drift one lap around, say Midfield. Then you grip around midfield, chances are the grip is going to be faster. If you mix it up, grip a bit, drift a bit, thats probably going to be the fastest time. If this is wrong, please correct me.

Drifting is faster in corners that is very tight like in cote Azure and in Seattle or in the curve after the line in Trial Mountain. In the end, it depends of the style of the racer.
But, in reality the chance in seeing someone drift a curve faster than griping is close to nothing cuz most of the racerz are wussies. Check some nice illegal race drivers of japan, they will show you how to attack the curve like a man :D
