i have a yokomo s15 genki drift kit got angry when i saw it dont come with motor servo and controler i cant find anything!! if anyone can find me a servo or anything please please pm me if u own one ill buy it off you!!

heh, I had a 1:12 BMW M3 GT-R I used to drift in parking lots until attack of the killer baby forced me to drift-crash it into the curb in an attempt to avoid being stepped on.

I dont see the point of buying a yokomo 'drift RC car'. Under that body shell lies the same as what you would find in a normal RC car.

Or do you just want to rice up a mini rx7 or S15...

There's my 0.02$

Hey guys have you guys seen this new sensation that is sweeping R/C cars! Yokomo has put out a line of R/C cars that only drift! I think its crazy, I just recently bouhg tone and it is my second life. Anyone have or know of this?

Could you make a video please? My R/C Car is only drifting when I deactivate my front transmission. I drive a brushless. Topspeed 80 km/h. I've just ordered new sub-c cells with 2200mAh each.

Not that any of this has anything to do with the original topic, though. So let's get back to it. My Stage 2 motor kit is on the way, but I figure in order to drift an x-mods properly, I'll need to lock the rear up, get a carbon driveshaft, some super stiff springs, and tape the tires. I've found packing tape works the best, it provides the best level of slickness, and it doesn't heat up and get grippy as quickly as other tapes. I recently discovered the existance of aluminum tape, which would probably be even better than packing tape.

Ok, why use tape?????? there are special rubber rasin based tires specificly made for drifting. I should be getting my Nissan S15 Silvia soon. BTW i'm new to the whole RC world, so if there are any tutorial site on drifing plz let me kno. Whats up with the PVC Pipe??? it has like no grip at all, unless you cut into it... no offence on the tape thing, i just don't think its a good idea, but hey, do what ever you want, its your car.

Whats up with bringing back all Topics.
And PVC (well i use Poly Pipe) does have grip. Just use a Tamiya Super Stock Motor and you will slide no worry's.

And Change your Signature. Because it's absoloute Bogas... And it looks like you can't even drift an R/C car.. so your stuffed.

If you have any specific questions, PM me.. i will try my best to answer you.

Yeah, I have a Yokomo 180sx. It's blue with sleepy eye's and GT spoiler. It's nice. 27 turn yokomo motor, and a 21 turn Monster engine. I love it. I drift the hell out of that car and everyone at my dorm at TTU thought it was a hoot. Everyone was impressed by my drifting it. Unfortunately right now I have a broken Front Suspension tower and a busted CV joint from a nasty full speed collision with a curb. I put slicks on it to see what it could do and a screw came out of my lower ball joint at top speed and it turned me out of control into a curb. :ouch: Still waiting for an aluminum replacement Suspension tower. Should be in in a week or so.

BTW, ABS pipe is much better for realistic looking drifts than PVC. It is thicker as well, but it is softer, so it still last about as long as the PVC does.

Thats sounds like its a cool car, how good is it at drifting?????

It rocks, I can do a whole 15 minute run w/o ever loosing my drift. It's pretty easy to control once you get the hang of it. I finally got it fixed. Cost $45. :ouch: Teach me to ever grip race it again. (it has a 45mph top speed with racing slicks, a bit slower (10mph IMO) with the lower profile drift tires) But I can get some VERY impressive links and long drifts with it. And being shaft driven 4wd it WILL hit top speed while going sideways.

I picked the car up used RTR in perfect condition, with two motors, two batteries, and a peak charger off of e-bay for $300 dollars + $30 shipping.

I should be getting brand new Flash Nissan S15 off of ebay soon, this is actually my first rc, do you think the Flash RCs are good? i'm not really sure, but i think once i put like a stage 2 motor in it, it will do good, but right now, i don't really know anything except what i have seen in movies and on TV (G4's Formula D). G4 is the reason i got into the RC World. But i just wanted to start off on sumden cheap, not liek the yokomo like the FD use, or anything else, i just wanted to start off slow, and if i have enough money for liek a yokomo, i will get one.

Do you have any pics of your car, opr vids fo it drifting? cause it sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I fixed my M3 GT-R.

But I crashed it again. I knocked the rear axel in half drifting 8/double donuts around a dogs' legs and...

...I hit a curb again. :(

No fixing it now! :(:(:(

...didn't read all 6 pages but ... i've been in to Gas buggies (1/8th scale Mugen XR-Works!), sedan's (HPI super nitro), Monster trucks (Ofna Monster Pirate), and 10th scale gas trucks (team associated) for YEARS! and races for just as long, and i have to tell you, there is nothing like controling a 1/8th scale buggy going nearly 50mph off 3-5 foot jumps!!! ya get like 40-60 feet of distance from the jumps (unless your race track is of the smaller sorts). don't get me wrong, these things are NOT toys they are very expencive and NEED to be respected. one wrong more or a dead RX battery pack with no Fail-Safe and someone's getting very hurt!!

they are a big responsibility but huge fun!!!

i have TONS of pics of my race monster truck (the T-MAXX killer!! mwaah haa haa) but not sure where to host them!

My car is a HPI RS4 Sport 2 with an 11 turn Orion Havok mod but has a Trinity P2K 27 turn high torque stock motor for small courses.
It has Yokomo drifting tires with the rings worn to the tire surface (not as loose anymore).
I do have a heavily modded HPI Micro RS4 that drifts very well, but i keep stripping the gears in the front diff (ill upgrade eventually, all my money is in the Sport 2)

lol i've broken the left rear turnbuckle 3 times drifting and hitting a small pothole :D. Be careful, i counted 5 flips last time i did it (drifting around 20 mph at the intersection in front of my house).

Not quite as neat and pretty as the yokomos (4 years old, but still drifts and races with the best of them)

HPI Toyota Supra 200mm Body (custom paint by me)

Micro RS4 Pics coming soon
possibly will work on video (recently moved, this new driveway is terrible for drifting! New neighborhood likes "sticky" driveways, so i have to find a parking lot)

Ive been researching the 1:18 scale cars for about a week now, I have it narrowed down to the Micro RS4 and the Xray m18. Im leaning towards the m18 because it is shaft driven 4wd, not belt driven, and has a fully independent suspension that also allows you to tune caster, camber and toe right out of the box. Many RS4 bodies and wheels fit right on it. Ill take an M3 please :)

I have been told it has a noticably lower center of gravity than the RS4 = less flips.

if you do buy the Micro RS4, buy a stronger front diff, i shred the gears everytime i drive it on anything but my super-slick kitchen floor. But to drift it, all you have to do is put electrical tape on the tires and it drifts!

I went with the M18 :) I have a new kit, Hitec micro metal gear servo, and HPI BMW M3 Lexan Body on the way. I will probably go with a Novec ESC and Orion motor, and probably slowly upgrade from there. Yes I know I need the radio stuff too, lol :)

Some fag closed down the thread with the SG Drifters movies in it so i'm posting them here even though i am not the starter of the other thread.

I've been into R/C drifting for about a few months, been going to a weekly drift
session at an auto shop called Arai's every Saturday too.

Heres a pic our chassis, mines the one with the red parts, for those who know
about R/C's.. yes I know these chassis are pretty lame lol,
but hey we just started and they are Tamiya tt-01 which are cheap...
