Some amazing racing today, I caught most of it on ITV4. Wish I could of gone though, holding out for Donington Historics though for a chance to see some Group C beasts.

I'm going to that, but forget Grp. Cs, there's a 917 driving on the Saturday.

Have to say, I'm not a fan of the Formula Renault's. I'm not massively sure why, I think it's because the field seems to spread out quite quickly and they don't follow very well.

Maybe today I was just a bit overloaded with Motorsport to enjoy them!

The Formula Renaults had quite a small grid i think?

The nature of single seater racing is going to make it look less exciting than tin-tops since they can't run side-by-side and rub paint in the same manner. The layout of Donington, more than any other UK circuit i can think of, encourages that sort of driving.

There was far too much Banger Racing going on in the BTCC races yesterday. What's going on with them? Can't they race properly anymore?

Agreed! 👍

Funnily, Paul O'Neill said pretty much that exact same thing about the banger racing, and that he's 'embarrassed' to be a BTCC driver today...oh dear!

The 3rd race was silly. Too many contacts and crashes to make it look like a demolition derby... I guess that's what happened when it gets too far in Touring Car racing.

Love BTCC :D
Plato rolling and lots of crashes... What's there not to like?

I'm backing Matt Jackson this year as i do every year. Shame he's not in the BMW. Not to keen on the Focus. I'd like to see the Audi do well but most new teams aren't usually successful in there 1st season.

Wow, just watched the races on ITVplayer. Best hour of racing I have seen in my life, sooooooooooo much action.

Damn awful driving in the third race, some people need to buck their ideas up if they want to be taken seriously.

Honda domination in race 1, Plato off again at the chicane. Shedden wins, Neal 2nd, Andrew Jordan 3rd, Chilton 4th, Boardman 5th, Onslow Cole 6th.

Dammit. Didn't even see one full race of any series. I saw a bit of the Clio's, Porsche's, Ginneta's and the Formula cars(Fords?)

Just got back from Donny Historic and stuck the BTCC on.

A few things; I wish PLato would stop complaining when he's in the team with the biggest budget, Boardman Race 2 start, just wow.

Not the best racing today but good points for Jordan 👍

Neal/ Dynamics Honda combo looking stronger than ever.

Just got Back from Thruxton today... not a bad weekend, Damon Hill just wondering around in the crowd again, so I said Hi.. :D

I thought the BTCC lot seems reasonable controlled this weekend which was good, not generally a fan of how shunt-y they can get at times (from the highlight reel of Donington it looked a complete mess!). I only really watched the main BTCC races so missed all the club action.

Also must say, I don't understand completely why they introduced the ability for teams to fit a turbo. I may have missed something, but from what I saw at Brands Hatch and Thruxton they do have clear advantage at points. Especially along the straights, I imagine when they go to Snetterton (even with it's changes) the turbo's will really be able to hold a solid lead over the non-turbo cars.

Its because of the new NGTC regulations the BTCC is using, which aim to provide a cheaper more competitive series. This year they are allowing older cars to run with non-turbo engines before switching entirely over next year (or 2013).
Its not really that bad anyway as most of the grid have turbo power. Only the Chevrolets and BMWs lack it. I don't know why RML haven't bothered with a turbo, but the teams running BMWs would have to fund their own engines as BMW refuse to pay for the costs.

The idea was that ToCA were going to monitor the situation and balance the field, which they have already attempted to do by limiting the Honda turbo boost. Seems half-hearted really, but then not many people sympathise because there are only a few cars running non-turbo anyway. (Plus Plato moans too much....and conveniently never moans when he has the advantage..SEAT turbo power?).
