Oh, god, I can so relate. I work in retail environment, too.
The story sounds so made up, but stuff like that happens time to time. "What planet are these people from?", I've asked a hundred times. Worst ones are the ones that keeps coming back. Within weeks, I've learned to just laugh at them. Like the guy in the story says, you gotta keep your cool, so I pretend that they are a show. Sometimes, I have hard time hiding a smirk from them.
