As someone who put over 100 hours into Fallout 3 GOTY Edition for PS3, I will no doubt be getting this game.

But not until it's bundled with all the DLC that's guaranteed to follow the initial release.

So I'll likely pick this up in late 2016 or 2017.

I just cancelled my Amazon order for the download code, and bought the game through my Xbox One.

It's installing right now and taking a long time. My guess is that the whole process will take between 100 and 120 minutes unless it speeds up. I didn't take an accurate note of the starting time, so these numbers are estimates based on recent progress.

Edit: Sort of as expected, the download and installation took about 90-100 minutes. I think it may have sped up towards the end. I'm assuming that what was downloaded was the latest and greatest code, and that if there are updates between now and Tuesday, they will happen automagically.

At this stage, it looks like I'll be in the Commonwealth wasteland before I can get my eyes properly open on Tuesday!

I really want to play Fallout 4, But I haven't played any game from the series other than the first one briefly, So I'm scared of getting it and don't understand parts of the story or references from the earlier games.

You can always reference the fallout wiki. I've done that before with some games

Greenman got their Steam codes for Fallout 4/Season pass in so I can preload! Hooray!

...I'm fairly certain there won't be a need for a player to be well versed in Fallout universe to enjoy this game.

I'd venture to add, even if some of the prelaunch PR dust talked about the improved combat system, I should not play this as a normal shooter at all - don't forget it's a RPG at its core, thus is stat-driven.

Other than that... woah. It's hard to wait and see if it's not a bug-infested cesspool of continuous facepalms...

I really hope not.

I played Fallout 3 without playing any of the previous Fallout games and loved it.
I see it as everytime i emerge from a vault in a different fallout game i know nothing of this world and see it as a new adventure completely (kinda like the Final Fantasy series), i prefer a world surrounded in mystery in such a game.

I've got my preorder in but I won't be able to pick it up till the end of the week due to work commitments.

Loved past games so this will be great.
