Is there a quest line where the minutemen destroy the institute?

They sent me in but never really forced me to do any sort of killing, then I said I'd be cool with the institute. MM still treat me well with quests and support but don't send me on anything institute related.
Is it possible the MM only care about ghouls and raiders? Building settlements, etc.?
They certainly don't seem to care about taking down the institute.

I was forced to kill the Minutemen on a quest I just did for the institute (tell me if you want to know which), I got around it though by getting enemy npcs in the area to attack them instead so they "accidently" died. :)

I the only one who feels bad for raiders after killing a gang and finding things like teddy bears and toys next to their beds? It's kind of sad. :(

Yeah, I ran into a fair share of those. Pretty alluring to think that in spite of their absolute hostility towards anything and the kinds of abominations they engage in regularly, they can express such compassion in their own isolation. After all, raiders are still human.

That reminds me, in following the BoS route of the main quest...
...I was ordered to execute Paladin Danse. Compounding the fact that I had max affinity with him, and that he serves as one of BoS's greatest men, it's impossible to kill this guy. Whether or not he's a synth is essentially irrelevant compared to his resolute character. Plus, knowing that Danse didn't even knew he has a synth himself solidifies his mindset that he would never turn his back against the BoS, because there's nothing to turn back on.

Sadly the only fate Maxson can tolerate is to permanently exile Danse from the BoS (of course convincing him to not kill Danse himself). Pretty stupid decision, IMO. I honestly would have still kept him. Plus I really don't think the majority of the East Coast BoS will reprimand. But Maxson is an ignorant man, so I let that be.

And funny enough there was an engaging debate between Maxson and us two. I was honestly surprised that the game had such an engaging conversation, more-less a debate. Bethesda even went out of their way and added some gestures! And they were actually believable gestures! Seriously the bulk of conversations in this game are a huge let-down, barring followers... Makes me despise Bethesda's decision of a voiced MC.

Minutemen don't really give a **** about the Institute

I want to destroy the institute but don't want to leave the minute men. Sadly, if I want to work with the railroad to destroy the institute I need to side with them over the MM, which IMHO doesn't make much sense since I was able to keep my ties with the MM when I sided with the Institute in my first play-though.

So would you lose your settlements by going down that route? My brother sided with the BoS and the MM are fine with him just like The Institute.

Yeah, I think it would be fine... Once I do a test I will let you know but I'm pretty sure nothing would change on that scale.

Edit:
Well it looks like all my game play tonight finally paid off (sorta). The MM gave me a new quest and I'm pretty sure it's going to end with me destroying the Institute. :D
Will report back once I'm done but for tonight that's enough. Probably end up playing tomorrow night so I'll let you all know how it goes once I've had the time to play.

For those on PC I would say watch the nexus for faction mods after the geck is released. Like with skyrim I suspect we'll see modders complete and restore a fair amount of cut content.

For those that don't know the civil war in skyrim was planned to be fully fleshed out with the dragon born attacking and defending key settlements and castles. But much of the content was cut or code unfinished so modders finished or utilised that code.

From what I've heard already it seems content was cut from the bos and possibly other factions.

I love the Gauss rifle, it dominates everything
Anyone know were more queens and behemoths are?
I've killed about 5 queens so far
(Castle, murkwater, Mass state, Spec Island and one roaming around near Coastal Cottage)

Have you tried taking on Swann? You can find him in Swann's Pond, near the start of the Freedom Trail and the station where you rescued Nick. There's a swan-shapped paddle boat in the pond; if you swim near it, you'll trigger Swann.

I've found a Mirelurk Queen in the top right corner of the map, just south of Mahkra Fishpacking. I think it respawns there after a while because I'm certain that I've killed it twice.

Yeah I think that was the one near coastal cottage for me. I saw something in the distance when I was talking to some chem dealer. I thought it was a pack brahmin at first haha

He was the first I encountered, totally caught me offguard. Had to take potshots from the subway station to kill him
I saw a video of someone using the world series bat and hitting a homerun with a behemoth. Was pretty hilarious

I'm currently rank 41 now, soon to be 42. I just got the level 2 solar powered perk which makes sunlight heal rad damage. Not bad considering I never used to waste rad aways until rads were getting up in the 200-300 range, now I always head off on quests with max health. I think next I'll put a few levels in to the armourer perk, currently only level 1. Eventually I want ballistic weave armour.

I have been doing jobs from the BOS, but not doing the escort jobs anymore. The scribe is worse than the companions. I had to take one to the Gunner's Plaza, he never crouches just stands, if you are sneaking he will walk into you and as the AI npc's has right of way you end up being pushed all over the place, love the game but this is so bad.

I got annoyed with the escort missions as it kept on sending me to the corvega plant. But the other missions are alright.

Yeah I had that with the Minutemen.
The Scribe would literally stand in front of me when I scoped, would push me or run into me and just wander all over the place, I even had him walk into me when I was talking to Danse and he pushed me so far away it ended the conversation.
One time it annoyed me so much I hit him which turned into a declaration of war against the BOS.

One Behemoth appeared outside the Corvega building near the elevated highway. The highway was between the building and the Behemoth

Companion infinite ammo mod, handy if you like to give them a better weapon, especially autos

Got a KneeCapper Combat Rifle, only does 100 or so damage, but with 20% change per shot to cripple legs - perfect weapon against Death Claws :)
Once legs are crippled they are helpless, and I can kill them at my leisure.

Crippling legs will leave nearly any enemy pathetically immobile. This is especially for feral ghouls (you have to shoot their legs again so they can drop to the ground, otherwise they'll just limp). Behemoths for example can't do anything once you cripple their legs. They just lie on the ground, helpless. Some enemies like Radscorptions can still attack you, they just won't move as much.

So, I was wondering why legendary enemies suddenly stopped dropping loot. As it turns out, Piper has been picking it up while I have been clearing the room.

Also, how will I know when I unlock a companion perk? I got a message reading "Piper admires you" and opened up flirting options, and I have heard the story about ger father, but I haven't received any notification of a unique quest or perk.

You will know when you get the perk, a message box will appear in the middle of the screen saying that as the companion idolises you a certain perk is attained, the game will pause when this appears so you will not miss seeing it.
So far I only have Danse and X6-88 to do now.
Also when you dismiss the companion the perk stays

Great, thanks. It's taking longer than I thought it would.

I beat the main campaign over the weekend. I posted more about it in the other F4 thread. I plan to do quite a few side missions with this character. Plus eventually romance Piper. Then eventually start a new character and make "other" decisions. Probably look at the achievements and see what else I can concentrate on now.

I encountered my second Mirelurk Queen yesterday while clearing a new settlement and I must say, easiest battle I've had in a while. I sunk a few shots in to it from range and it was dead before it ever got near me.

Finally got around to upgrading my Red Rocket home base.

Now I have recruited a few settlers to add to my companions, to run some top tier trading, weapon, clinic stores, and added a bar for after hours :)
And wired up some switched lights etc

What it looked like for a while, a good 200 hours - just recently added the Power armour stations out front.
I have 2 more empty frames in the office. With more parts in a trunk next to the original station inside the garage. Don't really see the need for more than 3 types of Power Armour in varying specs

sprucing things up, plus added beds to the second storey.
Now I can trade all my loot, and buy more materials without leaving Red Rocket

Kinda getting bored of Red Rocket though (330+ hours!) - thinking of moving my home to the Drive in

Silly question time: can I have more than one companion waiting at a location? I sent Dogmeat to Hangman's Alley when I took Piper on; now that I have maxed out my relationship with Piper, I want to build affinity with Nick. Can I send Piper to Hangman's Alley, or do I have to send her somewhere else? Or will Piper replace Dogmeat and Dogmeat be sent back out into the world (and if so, where would he go)? I don't want to lose him; once I have built relationships with all of the companions, I want to finish the game with Dogmeat.

I am currently working with Danse and then X6-88, all the others I have reached idolise with and I have sent them all to the Red Rocket, Curie has now gone back to Vault 81 though for some reason, I have all their perks still.
So yes you can have them around waiting, what I have not done is dismiss them before I reach idolise.
To make sure none got lost I travelled with them to Red Rocket, then dismissed them and sent them there, so basically they wouldn't wander off.

I plan on doing the same thing, but with Hangman's Alley. It's pretty centrally-located, easily networked to the other outposts, and without any settlers, I don't have to worry about defence.

Yes, I send all my companions to the same place, since you can't see where they are on the map, so they're hard to find if you forget where you sent them and have a lot of settlements.

This has got to be the worst settlement location ever. In the middle of a swamp, guarded by a Mirelurk Queen (which respawns after some time too. Hardly any resources and no even ground to build on. Tough one.

And here I thought Coastal Cottage was bad, considering that it's so tiny and the ground uneven.

Meanwhile, West Everett Estates and the township just north of Fort Hagen would make for brilliant settlements, but they're not available.

I found Murkwater ok, plenty of wood and easy to build above water, Coastal Cottage, Hangman's Alley and Outpost Zimonja on the other hand I really don't like.

Hangman's Alley is awesome, I closed up the alley end (north entrance) with living quarters, so only one entry (door on the west) left, so very easy to defend.

At Murkwater, how did you deal with the respawning Mirelurk Queen in terms of defense?
