I couldn't download my classic pack right away. I am guessing it was because it had just released and wasn't activated yet. I will try again later. I already have some half decent armor and weapons though.

Edit: Seems I have right. I just installed it. I was given the option of downloading two different versions though. The normal version and the french version. The french version was twice the size. Does anyone know what the difference is?

Instead of the stimpack, you get a carafe of wine, pack of smokes and some smelly cheese?

does anyone know how the preorder packs work on the console?

also has anyone run into glitches yet as some of the early reviews said there were problems.

I have the same problem.

I sent an e-mail to bethesda and they told me to try again later today and it should work.

Heres hoping i'll get my caravan pack as i really want those binoculars.

Decided to pick up NV, it releases here tomorrow. I really enjoyed FO3, so I'm expecting to like Vegas just as much :)

Glad it uses Steam and not the abomination that is GFWL, too.

:lol: has anyone here played around with the preorder items? I believe I will have the classic pack (gamestop preorder for the ps3)

I don't much but I want some good items to start with so I can explore right off the bat.

The Caravan pack is freaking awesome. The shotty is only a 2-shooter, but you reload very quickly with the right perks. It just blows away dudes at close range. The suit also looks the coolest. I wear that with a cowhide cowboy hat and I look fresher than Texas Red.

The only glitches I'm getting are little white blobs that pop up sometimes. I think they're supposed to be dust glimmers from far away, but as you walk through them they flash as big blobs. It happens at night too though. But I've got all the settings on ultra so maybe it's my hardware.

In steam, they ask you to check which pre-order stuff you want to install on the first launch of the launcher. Then you just play the game from the launcher and it'll put all the stuff in your inventory before you even get your **** from Doc Mitchell.

Im playing hardcore and, I went to new vegas the hard way through all the, death claws and stuff.

after playing for several hours last night I am very happy so far, no glitches for me yet either.

some things:
the ps3 preorder packs work be entering a code from a slip inside the game into the "redeem codes" section on the ps store, it downloaded and installed very quickly.

I think I found Indiana Jones' skeleton (inside a fridge) :)

so far I have stuck around primm and goodspring, tonight after work I will start exploring a bit now that I have some decent gear.

I have not figured out how you get a place to live yet (assuming you can) however I have been selling everything I don't need for caps pretty quickly so I haven't had a weight problem yet.

I played for about 3 straight hours last night. I loved Fallout 3 and I am already in love with New Vegas after 3 hours of gameplay. Yes it still has quite a few of the same exact bugs and glitches from Fallout 3 and yes it froze on me once already, but I LOVE this game!! Yes I have it installed. The weapon combinations, different items you can combine, along with a whole new colorful world make this one heck of a game. I am already severly addicted to Fallout New Vegas.

the only problem I have so far (not even really a problem for ME per se, bear with me) is that it is SO similar to fallout 3. My wife and roommates are already tired of fallout 3 so whereas normally they don't mind watching me play something new they have already called it the "same game". I imagine the same thing will happen with gt5 since I've been playing 4 pretty much constantly up until now.

Well that can be said for every sequal to every single game. COD, Halo, GTA, Gran Turismo, Mass Effect, GOW, Fable, and every other game. Besides, you are the one playing the game so if they dont want to watch tell them to do something else. lol
I am personally glad this game plays the same as Fallout 3 because I loved Fallout 3.

never goes over well when I am on the main tv in the house, thankfully I have an extra pair of sd cables ready in the bedroom if I need to move.

That just sounds like a very silly problem to me. Sounds like you will probably never be able to play games out there on the main TV ever again. lol!

nah, normally sequels at least of the games I play aren't quite so similar or I haven't played the previous game to death as with fo3 , the time frame doesn't help either considering that it's only been a couple months since I wrapped up fo3.

I got one question.

I'm about 10 hours into this game and i have no idea what i use scrap metal for.I have tons of this stuff and don't know what to do with it.

Is there a town that i haven't been to that needs it?

It has various uses from repairing things to being sold. You'll need some of it along with a few other items to recruit a possible follower.

Thanks man.

Wasn't sure if itwas completely useless or not.Glad it can be used for something.

someone mentioned the doc is supposed to give you a 9mm but I only received the classic pack gun and the other items he is supposed to give you. Anyone else have issues with that?

If you have 25 repair your have the option of repairing a 9mm SMG he has laying around. Thats it from what I can tell.

that's what I thought but I've heard elsewhere that he gives you a 9mm handgun. Not really that important considering I have a perfect one now.

I rented this last night and I am having some pretty bad problems with video rendering on the 360 with it. Sometimes after I stop moving my character will jerk around a bit almost like lag in a multiplayer game. I'm really surprised at how they didn't fix allot of the bugs the game engine had in Fallout 3....

I also have the 360 version. I had that issue a lot in Fallout 3 especially on Point Lookout. Walk a few seconds then the game seems to studder or lag while it loads the backround scenery. I think they call that "clipping". I am also very surprised they never fixed this issue from Fallout 3 which means this engine is a direct copy over of F3. Oh well I still love the game but it does indeed have too many of the same issues that Fallout 3 had. I thought for sure they would have fixed them for NV. And yes I have the game installed.

When I first started last night I didn't install it because I really didn't want to wait to play it! So this morning I installed it because I figured that was not helping, nope it still does the same thing. I have also had the game freeze a few times which is pretty annoying because I had to do the first mission 4 times because of it!

Make sure you save ALL THE TIME. Thats a must for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Dont rely on the autosaves. Manually save every chance you get.
Mine froze when I was on my way to get the ingredients for the camp fire healing powder.
