Apologies to all for taking this off topic tonight. To be honest it's not been a good day. We learned today that my wife's cousin passed away over night and was found this morning by her eight year old daughter. They lived alone and she was alone in the house when she found her mum when she woke up. Her grandmother took the train down to collect her granddaughter. I'm sat here waiting for a phone call in case I need to make the six hour drive to their house to collect this poor little girls clothes and Christmas presents as she will have to move back up here to live with her grandmother. I guess I took out my anger and frustration of the cruel blow this little girl has been dealt on this thread. Puts into perspective our petty arguments about a pretend steering wheel.

:( puts life into perspective... I feel sorry for that poor girl..

So sad that were arguing about this and she had to experience that.

Wow slim, that sucks!!!! Seriously. My heartfelt sympathies to your family. That poor little girl :"(

My condolences, puts things into perspective.

Life indeed does suck. I have no idea what I will say to a little girl who has lost her mum a week before Christmas or a lady who just lost her only daughter if I have to drive down there. It's been a rough day and as I say I took out the incredible anger I feel at an unfair world in this thread.

Edit: anyway, listen, let's just get this back on topic and forget the past few hours. We are all here for the same reason, something I think that's forgotten in the heat of the debate at times.

My condolences, PzR. I hope you can at least come together and spend Christmas together, appreciating each other.

My condolences, Slim. I doubt that little girl has only one wish now, that Santa could make this all a scary dream and make mum come back as her usual self.
I wish you and your family the best the holidays over, although I don't think for you all there will be much to celebrate because of this sad news. My thoughts go out to all of you these last weeks of the year.

Correcto... and i'll quote!

This is what I was referring to a few posts back when I was wondering about which wheels will be produced for the CSW.

This is only my opinion, not speaking for everyone of course......

When I look at that wheel, I see the BMW GT wheel without the logo and less buttons. So, I would not purchase that wheel because to me it seems fundamentally the same as the BMW GT wheel. I know for some people it will be worth the $150+ investment in the new wheel, but my money would stay in my pocket or go towards something else.

That's really all I mean when I was saying the wheels they will have on launch will cover most people's needs. We have a Formula style wheel for open wheelers and Prototypes, and we have a GT wheel for pretty much everything else.

Other than lack of buttons, how does the GT wheel and that Sparco wheel pictured above really differ?

27.7mm x 24.7mm if my measurements are correct. If you mean the screw hole placement. ;)

Sure I do mean the hard mounting screw placement. 👍 I still think we should x10 those figures :p, so it would be:

277mm x 247mm. ;)

Caz
Only tape measure i found is wifes sewing one ;(

Front to back, 9 7/8 inch = 250,8mm
Side to side, 10 7/8 inch = 276,2mm

That is on center of the bolts. I did oval the holes ( front to back) in the csp feet a little bit for mounting purposes.

Knowing what you need these for, you can slightly oversize the holes in your rig to allow for a small margin of error.

So I take from this that the holes (2 front holes + 2 in the 'back' as nearer to the driver) are positioned in a square formation.

Understanding the possible mistake in using a wife's sewing tape  But still I think those measures are close enough for me 👍

Front to back: 250,8mm / 247mm --> 3,8mm difference
Side to side: 276,2mm / 277mm --> 0,8mm difference

My holes in the plywood (that I'm wondering about) are 272,5mm apart (side to side), so still baffled about those..

But based on those I'll do slightly bigger holes the account the possible little offs in the measurements :)

edit,

sorry to hear that Slim.

Don't ask me, I'm not a nascar guy nor an American. By that I mean as a European I have never seen such wheels here before in the cars sold here. I'm sure American imports might have a wheel resembling that.

The only other difference I see between the two pics is that the Sparco has Alcantara en the other either rubber or leather.

We need the Kindergarten Cop! 💡

I seriously hope we all start a fresh new year soon with this stuff fading into history before new years eve.

Who is your daddy and what does he do? What? I'm your daddy? Not again!!

My 2 cents on all this ISR vs Fanatec stuff: I just bought a CSRE so I support Fanatec, but I have always watched ISR and trust their opinions, so I support ISR. Even if you are a Fanatec fanboy, don't forget there is still the best reason to watch ISR, Jessica! OMG mute Darin and the other guy, just look at her, she's perfect, I'd leave my wife for you Jessica

edit,

sorry to hear that Slim.

Indeed... I was writing it down in centimeters. :dunce:
Would be a bit small in mm. lmao

So yeah, from center of the screw hole to the center of the other screw hole. I wrote it a bit weird though. 27.7cm is the width between the holes on the front and back. 24.7cm is the distance between the screw holes from the front to back.

No offence to Jessica, but the way you put it... there are other channels that are better suited for that you know. ;)
I'm not a Fanatec fanboy. How can I be a fanboy with only clubsport pedals? Or do you think I say the things I do because I am a CSW community tester? Neither are true as I would have said them anyway. Besides, even if I have my CSW here then i'll probably still use my T500 RS for GT5, for the simple reason that I really enjoy manual shifting. And since the CSS is still far from being released, I'd probably stick with my TH8 RS which only works with the T500 RS in GT5. And if I don't like the CSS when its released, maybe i'll it with the CSW to my dad instead of the T500 and TH8. So yeah, don't really know yet what I like to use more. I really liked the accuracy and tuning functions of my CSP's though, but the throw never felt natural for me personally but maybe it's just because of the short throw T500 pedals. It'll be a tough pick one way or another.
I know one thing for sure and that is that I won't go back to my old G25. ;)
So I am not a fanboy of any brand. I just have my personal opinions about people and their actions and I threw them out there, that is all.

Btw, make sure your wife never finds out about what you just said. She might google you some day. ;)

No, just curious. I have 2 T500'S, 2 sets of CSP's, a GT2 Wheel, on the way is a Derek Speare pro sequential shifter, CTS pedals. I owned a G27 and a couple of old Madcatz Wheels and Sega wheel.

My sim days go back to the early to mid 80's. I was more curious because I noticed a lot of Fanatec owners in here are really touchy about anything they perceive as negative Fanatic talk.

That is not evidence, but you have every right to question his integrity. Like I suggested, tell him, not me.

OK. How far back do your failing Spelling 101 days go? Seriously!
PS-If English isn't your first language, I apologize for being (a bit) harsh; but otherwise, please do us a favor and proof read (or attend night school) next time. But more importantly, let's get back on topic- you know, about the wheels. I will be glad to post my impressions as a paying customer when mine arrives next week.

Are you actually serious?

I think he's just pissed cause you've hit the hot button (ie. fanatec-fanatic- it's smart play of word, mind you but fanatic always seems to get all riled up when you point out the obvious).

LOL, you can't get mad at someone for spelling a proper name incorrectly, especially when it's pronounced like a common word.

Example: "Hi Jason how are you?"

"WTF can't you spell anything??!?? It's Jaycien, the I is silent!"

Fanatec / Fanatic , same difference, as long as we all know what the person is talking about.

It was posts earlier, like for example "initall".... Anyway, I make mistakes too, and I'll try to stay on topic, my bad. Well my Elite I bought comes next week so can't wait to form some opinions based on hands on experience instead of conjecture and the negativity of a broken record.

Could you PM me some specifics on the PC portion of your rig please?

I didn't spot any errors.

They have appeared in the past, but everyone has spelling mistakes. He isn't spelling Fanatic / Fanatec improperly, he uses the incorrect spelling to poke at the people.

I've had an elite for about two weeks, anything you want to know just ask.
I'll be happy to answer your questions.
