I guess some people here complain about going off topic and others talking about one single person in negative manner, but now the complainers nag about it still AND each other going off topic and whatever.

I seriously don't know what is worse anymore. But like slim said... The pot calling the kettle black. It seriously comes to mind.

Let's just get our minds back on track and talk about Fanatec (upcoming) products.

On topic: What kind of handbrake do all want the ClubSport Handbrake to be? Normal style that you have in Thr center console of a car or rather a rally style handbrake?

I don't know what use a handbrake will be...

If any is useful it has to be the rally one due to convenient location when driving.

Personally, I feel the CSHB should have detachable levers, so that you can use a different type. Then there should be leather "sleeves" where you can attach a certain color schemed leather sleeve to the handbrake. That way people with the GT3 RS can have a leather sleeve with orange stitching or something like that. It would give it more of a personal feel to it, which is always good. People who want to drift can use the straight up metal with rubber grip, while people who are more into street cars can use a leather styled handbrake, then personalize it to match their wheel.

You forget drifting. Using an analog handbrake makes it possible to more properly control how you initiate a drift. In the case for drifting which is done with street cars I would like a normal handbrake.

I just dont see the point of drifting in a video game unless you have tripple screens so you can see forward through the side monitor... Sigh, i guess i just dont get drifting in general. i dont like judges awarding me style points, i just want to beat the guy over the finish line. its kinda like figure skating on crack

Thomas has stated that the csh will be mountable in both positions. Best of both worlds. Now a mount that would be able to pivot the entire handbrake unit from eash position would be pretty sweet.

I'm waiting for the CSS more than the CSHB, but I'm really excited about both. I hope they have a combo offer or somemthing.

Interesting idea. I wonder how cost effective this could be made (sorry for bringing cost in to dream/wish land).

Who says I drift in those official things? I just pick a track in practice mode in GT5 or my lounge and just go and drive and have fun.
Also when I get bored in races I start to drift to make things a bit more amusing for myself. ;)

Has anyone who is also waiting for the CSS had a chance to try the Thrustmaster add-on shifter? Now that someone is making an adapter to make that mate to the Fanatec wheels, makes me wonder: how good is it?

Speaking of the css wonder when thomas is gonna give us another teaser lol He is supposed to have a proto type with him from he trip to China when checking on the csr-e production right?

If you hit that 450 mark it will turn no further..

As a quick follow this is not correct. There is not a hard physical stop when you reach the end of travel. It is stopped by force feedback effect. I've seen the effect in a video and it it a bit jumpy/jittery.

In of itself, I don't see this as a problem with the wheel I was just curious to know how it worked.

Looks very very good.. Logi has one

Yeah looked good online from what I can tell. Wonder if in the states those are available in some Best Buy stores locally like the T500 wheels? I'll have to check into that.

Logiforce can back me up here.. Thomas said he could easily make it 1080 rotation however that would mean changing the thickness of something

The TH8 RS is a pretty good shifter. At this point of time the best under the 200 euro price range, above you'll have Frex starting at almost 400 euros I believe for just a H-shift. The TH8 RS is a H and sequential shifter.
The feel is nice and has a normal throw to it. The strength can be adjusted but I have to give a warning that when you tighten it at some point you'll lose the automatic pull to neutral. Like when you push a bit against the shifter it won't pull itself in neutral anymore, you'll have to help it along a bit further.

On a personal note I am thinking about sticking to my T500 RS+TH8 RS combo even after I get my CSW here. Just because I really like manual shifting and don't think the CSR shifters are up to par at all with the TH8 RS. So at least until the CSS gets released i'll probably stick to the T500 RS.

Do you have any experience with the SST lightning? H only I believe and "different" feeling but people seem to really like it. $180-200$US.

I only have experience with the G25 shifter and TH8 RS shifter when it comes to sim gear.

I drove many different cars though with H shifters. Nissan Vanette, Toyota Carina E, Fiat Uno, Fiat Panda, Fiat Bravo, Lancia Delta HPE, Suzuki Alto, Volvo 480, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Golf.
I am sure I forgot a lot too, but to me the TH8 RS comes closest. Also I just looked at the SST Lightening in youtube videos. The resistance is not even close to a real car, also the sound makes me more think it's closer to the CSR shifter as the TH8 RS shifter.
If I had to buy a shifter and after watching videos I had to make a decision, I would get the TH8 RS hands down.

Thanks for your thoughts on that. From what I have heard the SST is very good however quite different than a traditional gear shift. It certainly doesn't capture the "sim" aspect but from what I have read it is very satisfying in the "racing" bit.

I think what they are getting at is the fact that it has a pretty short throw, shorter then the CSR shifters and almost half the throw of a TH8 RS. The short throw will allow for faster shifting and thus is for some more satisfying in the what they call racing aspect.
For me I like to have things more closer to the real thing, but since those are personal choices you will just have to make yours. ;)

LogiForce, what about the TH8's feel in sequential mode? From watching videos, it looks like it doesn't provide satisfying positive tactile feedback when shifting in sequential.

My GT3 and CPS will be arriving soon, and when I sell my G27 I'll have no shifter. I'm torn between going for the TH8 and waiting for the CSS. I'm playing iRacing almost exclusively now, so I think I'll have more use for a sequential over an H shifter. Any thoughts?

I think you should wait on the CSS before deciding on either shifter. the TH8 RS may be better, but it'd be better to wait on the details for both, that way you don't jump into the TH8 RS only to find out that the CSS is 10 times better 2 weeks later.

Two weeks later. A bit optimistic I think.
The shifter was announced months ago. Before I think the Elite etc.

Don't think it's a priority for fanatec ATM.

The feel is basically just that you have the TH8 RS moving in the neutral slot of the H-pattern. The sequential shifter plate limits its movement to a 1cm long slot with an extra spring wrapping around the lever. So there is no click or whatever and the resistance feels reasonably heavy, but not close to the Frex in terms of resistance. But it has ten times more resistance at the very least then the G25 in sequential mode, if not double that.
So no tactile feedback other then hitting the edge in the shifter plate.

2 weeks mate? The CSS and CSH are expected to be released in Q2 of 2012. So those two weeks will be closer to half a year including just small delays.
