Yeh I can imagine he is very busy..
DG said he'd do it on what I guess was his last day as he told me he was stepping down from pr.. although he didn't mention he was leaving.
Then he ignored my final email about who to contact then you Logiforce gave me one of Thomas's emails!
This is obviously more for Nascar Fanatics.
Fits perfectly also to rally and drifting. For me the upcoming BMW race wheel do the same job with CSW.
Guys, I know it's lame to bump my own post, but just after I posted this last night all the drama over As The ISR/Fanatec Turns soap opera hit this thread. Not that this isn't interesting, but I just wanted to re-post my question/idea and ask if anyone either A) has been able to look at the wheel rim construction where top section joins the grips area to see if it would be easily removable, and B) if anyone else things this would be a cool option for the reasons I highlighted?Hey guys: while people (ahem, Latte) are experimenting with getting into the guts of the Elite, I wonder if someone could take a look at the wheel rim top section?
I wrote Thomas with a suggestion that where the seams are at about a 45 degree angle as the hand grips section joins the top piece, if the top section of the rim could be removed that might be ideal for me. I play with a large screen mounted low in my rig so the physical wheel matches up height-wise with most cockpits' on-screen wheel. This is very immersive, but in some sims the top of the real wheel rim often blocks part of the cockpit rendering on-screen. So if the top of the rim was removed, it would not only be lighter (more FFB/speed) but have better visibility. Just like a LeMans or ALMS car style steering wheel.
Also it would be even better if it could be removed and later replaced without damage. Or replaced with an optional different top? One like a Ferrari w/ built-in rev lights? Sure this would work PC only, and may have to be aftermarket (since it wouldn't pass Microsoft scrutiny), but wouldn't that be a cool add-on?
Anyway, Thomas responded (as long as my question was clear) that there are no electronics in that part of the rim, so cutting it away would be possible (I was concerned this was where the vibe motors or their cables might be in there.) But I wonder if cutting is the right word? Looks like w/ the seam there I was hoping it could be taken apart pretty easily. Ideally with a way to put it back easily would be even better- something like a hidden bolt or strong enough magnets on either side maybe?
Anyway, if anyone can tell how that section is connected or wants to experiment feel free to report back!
paskowitzI will try to explain this as best as I can.
Wouldn't it be cool if you could attach any real life wheel to the CSRE/CSW? Yes, obviously!
But how would this work? An adapter for the CSRE and CSW that attaches to the steering rod (QR system for CSW).
But now the wheel has no buttons, this will not work? Simple solution, a Fanatec button box. Sure you will miss the paddle shifters, but that is what the CSS will be for.
So lets get this straight. Any wheel (with standard screw arrangement)+adapter+button box+CSS=awesome.
All the reviews are one sided (similar to ISR) as everyone is trying to "deserve" they were worth sending a beta testing wheel.
I'm think this is sort of on topic as this thread is all things fanatec...
Does anyone remember Darin here:

Both go against what happened on iracing imo...
Personally I won't be watching ISR again. The rest is for you guys to decide. I would post the discussion but I don't know if I would be flamed for it so I'll leave it to someone else.
left888Does this really need to be rehashed, again?
Check PM.
amf7does it not come up as a popup for you guys?
If your talking about the article, yes the link works.
Seems perverse but slightly compelling to read. Think I'm finding out new things about myself and I don't like it.
Since I noticed you've received your CSRE/CSP/CTK combo today, I am looking forward hearing your opinion as well
Me and Latte here - we were privileged to get the beta-versions among GTP members - were pretty vocal about things we didn't like and we both spend a hefty amount of time judging CSRE from every perspective imaginable. Also, great work done by other guys - Crispy and Sonac - speaks from itself.
I really like to think our reviews were objective, thoughtful and made in order to inform potential readers about what CSRE really is. I hope you'll also find it out soon for yourself.
We would't go far if we was writing only praises and compliments without having a strong foundation to do so. I stand behind every single word I wrote in my overview because I invested damn lot of time in my life in various wheels and games - and now in CSRE testing - to be able to recognize possible pros and cons. And I think all other guys did the same.
Just imagine if someone was "biased" for a second or writing something just trying to "deserve" anything. Community would soon eat him alive, I assure you I would be among the first
I am really looking forward to your opinion - as for opinion of all other people that are starting to receive their wheels. It is the only way how us - people who tested and reviewed it sooner - can get real feedback and get either confirmation or neglecting of our personal thoughts about some product 👍
