Nice rig. That's the one I was looking at until I saw at the cost of shipping after they had a sale one time a few months ago, but changed their free shipping policy the same day (in the USA). Shipping was something like $370 at the time. I still may get it eventually.
Thanks! Yes, the shipping costs is something that has really stop me in my track. 10% of the order value! Really really costly. If it wasn't for the 5% off code I found, I probably wouldn't go with them.

I'm back with a question. I thought I'm done, but surprise surprise, there is more. Is there ever not?

I promise this one is related to the wheel. Basically that rig I ordered has a weak point according to reviews - the wheel deck, or wheel plate. The piece that is mounted to the rig that the wheel base is mounted on to. Apparently it is flimsy and flexes. The solution is to mount the wheel directly onto the frame rather than onto the deck/plate. Question I have is - do I need some kind of bracket to mount the DD Extreme wheel directly onto the 4080 frame bar piece? If so, where do I get it from (and please tell me it's cheap)?

Coming from what you had before I doubt you are going to notice any flex unless you decide to run extremely high FFB. It should all feel incredibly solid.

I'd give it a go for a while and see if flex is actually present.

I hope so. It's a pitty that even after spending so much - there are still problems to sort out.

This guy seems to think that the flex is 'unacceptable' which is not great

but I think I'll just stop watching any reviews at this point and just try to patiently wait for it to arrive and see for myself - as you said. Thank you!

Has anyone upgraded the qr2 lite on the Extreme wheel? Did it improve how the wheel feels?
I did, and I felt no difference. I had to upgrade so I could mount my DDU lower.

I wish I knew about the 'Fanatec experience' before I placed an order with them. Lack of knowledge really doesn't pay off.

My ignorant self thought that Fanatec is some kind of pinnacle of sim racing hardware. It turns out - it isn't. What's more, the company almost went bust and people have been complaining about their costumer service for years now. I, of course, knew nothing about it.

I have ordered the wheel and the pedals on the same day 5 days ago hoping to have everything for the xmas. Pedals were shipped only 2 days after the order which I was quite impressed with knowing their reputation. The situation with the wheel however is a different story. It has not yet been shipped, even though it said 1-4 business days to ship during ordering, but also they don't even reply to emails. It looks like I will have everything apart from the most important thing - the wheel.

Has anyone recently ordered and got delivered the DD Extreme? How long did you have to wait?

Yeah its been a very mixed transition to Corsair ownership. Order processing varies alot especially by region. some report good expereince others suffer terribly

Go to the Fanatec forum where they can assist w order inquiries and also target @fanalex who tries to help when possible

However as a console only user, choice is limited - only Thrustmaster, Logitech and Fanatec atm and each has pros & cons

It looks like I praised the pedal shipping a bit too quickly. They were meant to be delivered tomorrow, but then I checked the tracking and this happened:

"Exception
Uncontrollable events have delayed delivery. We are adjusting delivery plans as quickly as possible. Please check back on the next business day for updates.
UPS"

Uncontrollable events :lol:

Hey all, quick update on Beta 1.2.0.6 on DD+ (running for 10days). Just sharing my observations, thanks.

1) I no longer experience GT7 game freeze (stutter, freeze, pull power cable) = WIN, well done Fanatec

2) Full Force, overall nice addition. However had 1 experience in Yas Marina+Ferrari 296 at the start of a random lap, where Full Force was overly pronounced with knocks on the base.

  • Setup: FFB = 95, Full Force = 70%, in-game 3 / 8. Controller vibration is set to 90% in GT7 option, but not sure if this has any impact to wheel.
  • Situation: I've done many laps and usually no issues. There was a lap where Full Force was creating a knock on the base.
When this happened:
  1. I restarted the lap, came back to resume = no change, same knocks
  2. I restarted the lap & paused, turned off/on DD+ and resumed at same point = no change, same knocks
  3. I exited the lap and went into lap entry screen then returned back in = no change, same knocks
  4. I closed GT7 in PS main screen, re-entered same track = No more knocks, back to normal
I guess my one-off experience is telling me is that PD/GT7 game has its issues with the Full Force coding or some sort of game cache issue (maybe not a surprise).

Aside from this, Beta 1.2.0.5 is working well overall so I'm staying. Beta fix on GT7 game freeze is definitely worth it.

In another occasion, I also had 1 minor force lock (pulling me to left side for few seconds then recovering). But I've had this issue before on previous FWs, so not attributing it to this Beta.

On rare occasions, Trueforce also glitches out and does weird knocking / vibrations on the Logitech G Pro. It happened to me several times, once after a large impact.

I had exactly the same thing, and I'm pretty sure it was the 296 GT3 and Yas.
I immediately thought of the issue @PirovacBoy mentioned a while back.
I only had it the one time.
I'm not sure which FW I'm running, but I am using the app, and everything is up to date.
I have also had two disconnects recently - first time for a very long time!

@Jules_r , appreciate your feedback & confirmation that I'm not the only one, especially at Yas + 296. Thanks.

It's not deterring me to move away from Beta 1.2.0.6. I've not tried the most recent 1.2.1.1, as I don't need it (yet)... trying avoid FW updates as much as possible, it makes me nervous.

Also, can you expand on what you mean by "disconnects"? You actually lose power to the wheel or wheel does not respond? My first instinct with disconnect would be the quick-release. I'm using metal QR2 with my DD+. I've not had any disconnects where I lose the wheel... knock on wood.

Sorry it's taken a while to come back....

I'm not sure if disconnect is the right word. I was mid race and all of a sudden, mid corner, the wheel stopped working... it went loose, all feedback gone. The game froze, but then unfroze, before freezing again - very unstable. The wheel still had power, but no buttons worked. No way of turning it off or shutting it down, the power button did nothing. I think I was able to exit the game and shut down the PS5 correctly but the only way to turn the wheel off was to flick the power switch at the wall.

I think thats how it went, but it was a while ago. It happened twice.

Do you have PC App v1.2.0.5 with its firmwares or newer installed?
PC App v1.2.1.1

  • Fixed Base freezes in games (iRacing and GT7) when using FullForce on CS DD Bases.

I'm not near my PS5 right now, but I do have my laptop and opening the App tells me it's v1.1.03 so maybe I need to update App and firmware?

Because of the changes recently in GT7 I checked the latest Auto tuning menu settings for the DD+ while in PS4 mode - PS5 mode gives same settings I think but feels weaker due to the mode issue

  • SEN auto
  • FFB 60
  • FUL 65
  • NDP 30
  • NFR 5
  • NIN off
  • INT 3
  • FEI 100
  • FOR 70
  • SPR 100
  • DPR 110

While FFB feels a bit low to me at 5/1 in game, overall its pretty good, not far from what I was already running

Interesting to note INT 3 is much lower than before, FOR reduced to 70 - something I did back when 468 changed the FFB in the FW, and DPR 110

Oscillation is still quite heavy for a number of the heavy hitters but varies so still some tire/physics issues for PD to work out - less bad in PS5 mode

DPR 110 eh? Interesting. I’ve left those three at 100 since getting the DD+. Which has worked well, but the other day I dusted off the f1 esports v2 yoke and it oscillated like mad on the gr1 at Spa. Other two wheels, which are 300mm(extreme wheel), and 330mm with the CSL Univ Hub V2 +QR2 performed fine. Little oscillation, but not bad.

An aside: Does using the cheapo CSL univ Hub v2 +qr2 solution affect the ffb greatly? Do you guys think it’s a better experience with a better hub, or is it more about the wheel?

Thanks

Yes, if you want to solve the issue.
@Jules_r

Issue you described "disconnect" is what I'm calling it a GT7 wheel Freeze... same failure-mode description where the wheel is lost, game stutters, then unresponsive. Only way to recover is to unplug the power to the wheel.

As super_gt suggested also, try 1.2.0.5+ (or 1.2.0.6 which I think it's essentially the same). There's also the latest 1.2.1.1, which I'm not using at the moment, but should have the same fix included. Having said that, these are Beta software, so it does present some risk (but looks like handful of players here are running it, so it's probably less risky). Good luck!

I should be getting my wheel after Xmas. It has been dispatched finally.

Question about firmware update. From what I can gather it is a very hit and miss thing, a bit of lottery. Should I be updating my firmware when I get the wheel or should I follow the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality and only think about FW update if I detect any problems?

I've found the settings that work best for me : SENS = Auto
FFB = 100%
FFS = Peak
FullForce = 60-75
NDP = 18
NFR = 3
NIN = 5
INT = 3
FEI = 60-70
FOR = 60-70
SPR = Off
DPR = 10
SHO = On

In game :
Max FFB Torque : 3 at 6
FFB Sensitivity : 1 or 2
DS5 controller vibrations : 100

These are the default settings for DD+. Then, I adjust the parameters in GT7 depending on the car type (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, road cars) and the track.

I might be the exception here, but for me the best setting is to leave the wheelbase in auto with fullforce on 100
Controller vibration at 150 (max)
In game torque set to 10
Sensitivity 1

I found that when using PirovacBoy's settings, although very good, I was losing all detail when cornering. The ffb strength was there but the wheel goes numb through corners, almost as if it were clipping, no vibrations at all until straight again.
With the auto settings it is very much like PirovacBoy's settings, but I don't lose any detail through the corners, all of the road surface information is there.
I am using the latest software and my wheelbase, qr2 and wheel firmware is fully up to date.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced the same, and if they have tried the auto setting and what they think of it?

PS4 or PS5 mode? makes a diff

Auto setting is quite good but needs a bit of bump up torque or on wheel. I think the INT 3 vs 11 is the main diff you are feeling vs @PirovacBoy’s setting plus maybe the high Full Force (depending on mode) is going to make it feel a bit crispy

PS5

I changed to using auto long before fullforce was implemented.
The only difference full force has made is enhanced feel when riding kerbs, engine vibrations, feeling gear changes etc.
