I've got all gold on everything except endurance (which I'll never do because I've done them in the past with my brother and I am SO over that crap), and I've been dreading this race. My dread is now reality, because this championship is absolutely horrible. I thought NASCAR was bad, but this is ridiculous. It's too long, WAY too long. I've run through every setup thread, and while it's enough to win (at least the first race anyway, that's as far as I've gotten), there is no setup to absolutely dominate. I'll be so glad when I get done with this because I will never touch this car again. If somebody knows some trick to this race, I'd certainly appreciate it. No sense in this.

I went through pretty good. I had some tiredness which brung me down a couple of points instead of pausing the game & resting, but the majority is that I won & glad that I beat it. I also didn't need any setup at all.

I charged through it no problem. Took an afternoon but it was good fun. The longer races are great! It tests you more.

I did the FGT Championship with a DS3 - Didnt change setup apart from gearing - Auto Transmission - All gold first try.

It's not that hard if you put your mind to it.

yh i was annoyed by it at first but like others have said if you knuckle down and concentrate it is quite easy try to do the championship during the day don't do it at night you need to be fully alert do do this one :)

i still aint done the nascar season yet but will try now i have done the fgt season which i admit is tough if you are not in the mood to do it

I probably should have mentioned that I am doing it on the DS3 myself, the only way I've ever raced in the Gran Turismo series. It's just frustrating when you're so used to be able to outspend the AI and you can't with this car, as they're all equal. In all seriousness, though, the NASCAR race was nowhere near as draining as this one. And it's 10:50am here where I live. I just hate having to sit here and race for what will be a smooth 2 hours or more to get through this.

It sucks because of the driver, not because of the game.

I just used one of my days off to do it. Took about 2 hours. I got Gold on every one except for Suzuka circuit (last race), the reason being that I span out twice on the first lap and ended up 20 seconds behind, which is almost impossible to come back from. I quit, and won on points.

I've also only ever used DS3 for the GT series. I found the easiest way to win on each one was to get ahead on the first straight by braking late, so you're first from the beginning. The rest was just a combination of staying on the track at all times and at some points blocking the guy behind me.

TBH with the FGT championship, the AI of the drivers is so bad that as long as you're going fairly quickly and you stay on the track they'll never overtake you. I'd also hugely advise staying out of the line of the pack on straights because drafting is pretty much the only way they'l overtake you unless you slide out.

First time I did it I came 4th overall after deciding to skip Suzuka because I hate that track and the only gold I got was in Monza. Then a few weeks later I did the 1000km Suzuka endurance race and decided to use the FGT for it to get used to it, especially since I am also using a DS3. After about 70 laps I had the hang of it and could put in some pretty good times sub 1.32.

So going back to the championship after 5 hours of driving the FGT it was a lot easier. I golded them all except Monaco which I also hate, especially when using high powered cars, it's great for Golfs etc.

My tip is to turn a little earlier than you normally would in another car and brake early and accelerate no later than half way around the bend.

LOL, its not even hard, i did this race with no tune, only oil change and golded them all first try...

I'm glad there is no setup to dominate as it would spoil the fun.

Seriously, the only thing that stops you from winning this championship is yourself. Just breathe, turn smoothly into each corner and don't be afraid to make a mistake. At Monza, I came from 15 seconds down after 6 laps to win by 5 seconds. It just requires a bit of patience and for you to have a bit of fun - after all, the whole point of Gran Turismo is to drive!

That's what happens when suddenly the AI have the same powered car as you after you have been beating them with overpowered cars...

I don't understand people who complain about things like this... This is a RACING game. Racing is supposed to be close, intense, long etc etc...

DS3 = dualshock3 (ps3 controller)

It would be much better with tyre/fuel wear and the lenght of B-spec AND beeing able to save between races! I had some prob with this one as well....

if u want to go trought it quickly without having to be patient with the throthle;
TC 3
SRF on
ACTIVE STEERING mild
TCM (or whatever the last one is called, i've forgot lol) ON
¨
And becouse it will be more like full gas/ full brake and you wont feel the car at all try using automatic....... just to get trough it....

3h something later, all gold and bout a mill cr in ur pocket

Wow. I had no idea some of you took this so seriously. Since everyone is entitled to their opinion, let me share mine.

IT'S ONLY A GAME.

We buy games to have fun. We buy games because it allows us to do things we can't do in real life, either due to impossibility, lack of opportunity, or lack of money. GT5 is a racing simulator, which basically means it's virtual reality of what it would be like to actually race. But the true reality is that it's just a game.

If you absolutely have to prove to the world that you're a better driver than anybody else on a video game, if you have to have every car in the game, if you have to have every trophy, if you spend every possible minute you can playing GT5 (or any other game for that matter), then I truly feel sorry for you. I used to be that way. GT1 and GT2 were 100% completion, me and my brother playing it. But then I realized that other aspects of my life suffered because of my obsession with it.

Now I work 44-52 hours a week, have a mortgage, spend time with my friends, and actually race in real life. I bought this game to have fun and collect cars and money that I know I'll never have. But if it requires me to take 2+ hours out of my real life to win some virtual trophy, it just isn't worth it to me.

You guys and gals go have fun and enjoy the parts of the game you like, and ignore the parts you don't. That's what I'm doing. FGT Championship will just stay blank.

But the GT5 FGT championship still doesn't require as many laps per track as the GT4 one, uh?

Indeed.. I hate it almost as much as the Nascar races. Just a slightly less useless car than those Nascar whales on wheels...

Hmm... Sounds like the FGT championship just isn't for you then. But I'm sure, even if you do work alot, you'll find 2-3 hours on weekend to do this. We all do long gaming sessions every once in a while and I guess it's kinda healthy because if I play alot on weekend I find it easier to study from monday to friday because I don't feel like playing that much. And when the weekend comes again, I feel like I could play the whole weekend :D But it's your call, you either do it or don't :p

You could have just said the last three sentences. Sharing sob stories online is not a good way to build people up, if they don't ignore you, many people will probably bash you for whatever reason.

Either way, I understand point you're making and its nothing new to anyone here, the game is OPTIONAL, and so is every event in it. Yet that statement tends to fall on deaf ears more often then not.

I absolutely hate this event......

It's not about whether I can win or not...... The FGT is complete pile of .... of a car to drive..... Shocking how undriveable this car is..... I just can't be bothered to complete entire championship....

I won the first 3 races and by then I wanted to throw my DS3 against the wall....

Events are too long to suffer through....

That's me done moaning...

Nice, a polite flame job.👎

This is the only A-spec event I haven't done (apart from the longer enduros). I have been avoiding it because I haven't wanted to dedicate that much time non-stop (same for enduros).

I did run the first race just to see what it was like since the car is new to me. It took me a couple of restarts because I kept spinning under braking. But after I figured out how to brake early and pick up the throttle early the rear behaved better. It does take a different driving style than a road car, or even an LM car, but it's very manageable. And beating the AI is no problem. They brake so early you can out-brake them every corner.

I look forward to running this championship when I have the time to do it straight through.

I dreaded this also (put it off for 2 days) but I just went straight in. Took me a few tries before I realised I had to do an engine restoration. Went back out, fail, put all suspension setting to default and all aids ON and viola. 1st place in all, apart from the last one on rainy suzuka were I kept getting rammed so I quit but got gold overall anyway and it only took me about 1 and a half-2 hours so....
Good luck anyway 👍
