Ok, been thinking, who thinks we should ban TCS for next season. Im in favour of keeping the mythical SRF due to the fact that the FGT has virtually no downforce. Also i think ABS should remain.
So id like some input on these key questions.
Q1. Should qualifying take place sometime before the race maybe 2 sessions with a marshal in charge of each session?
Q2. Should TCS be banned?
Q3. Should we drop high speed ring from this years calendar?

Talk to me folks.

Hey Rhyfe,

1) we could do that next season, would make race days easier to organise
we can follow the spec miata / spec elise championship qualification formats (2 at a time, 4 laps each (1 warm up, 1 cool down - 2 hot laps)
2) SRF should be coming off before TCS. Why? SRF is a fictional aid versus TCS which is a real world aid. my .02$
3) Think we should leave the calendar intact, we can always tweak the calendar before next season - who knows, high speed ring might make for some interesting drafting races

@pigboy: That was my view throughout the race :D everbody sliding from on side to another ;)
Well but that´s not an issue. Maybe it´s another thing: I´m wired and maybe some of you use the wireless connection ??

Qualifying: Just 1 after another. 1 hotlap (out- and inlap too) => easy done and for everybody same conditions

I agree with neth with baning SRF before TCS (TCS helped me during DF Race ;) because my set-up was a bit weak)

HSR is a funny little Track and will make a very good race (maybe take the reverse course).

I think that neth is right. Tcs is a real world aid and should be left in, srf is my pick for the boot, and if you want to replace hsr I would pick sazuka.

Also I like the qualifying just before the race but everyone gets 2 hot laps one after the other . I'm working every day but Sunday so I can't qualify any other day

Why don't you banned both SRF and TCS as none are used in real F1, then add 50kg and limit cars to 900bhp or 850bhp. Extra weight = Extra Grip/downforce , Less Power = more control. High speed ring is a really boring track the only way to make that track more interesting is to add rain. Qualifing you could just give half the feild 15mins then the other half 15mins that way you have always got a stweard watching and there's less cars on track.

Some interesting ideas, ill be online in a while and i am going back to deep forest to try the following. No TCS, because real F1 cars do not have it. No SRF although as this doesnt exist my idea was using it to replace the missing downforce. Adding some weight to the car, while this may help with some areas of traction it may cause problems in the corners. Formula 1 cars also have no ABS so i guess we can test this too, a problem with this is people with controllers as opposed to wheels would be at a huge disadvantage here. We will see.
I have been considering adding rain to one of the tracks this season but made no mention of it in the first post, how would you guys feel if you turned up for a race and it was raining?
We will have to sort qualifying out somehow, id love to do Q1-3 but we never get more than 12 people turn up for a race so could be difficult, I like the idea of 2 at a time neth. That way there would be someone to note the times as they come in.
If anyone else tries these theories out, let us know the results!

Ok here are my results for DFR, ABS on 1 unless disabled

No SRF no TCS no ASM +50kg
lap 1 1.00.136
lap 2 58.242
lap 3 59.611

verdict- utterly miserable, no matter how gentle i was, even the slightest variation in track camber sent me off, took me a while to get clean laps.

No SRF, TCS, ASM, stock weight
lap 1 1.01.881
lap 2 59.346
lap 3 59.291

V- As before, thought it felt a little better but still unenjoyable.

No TCS, ASM. SRF was on
lap 1 53.630
lap 2 53.901
lap 3 53.828

V- More challenging than usual settings but still fun. Requires more concentration.

No ABS, TCS, ABS. SRF on
lap 1 1.02.459
lap 2 1.00.942
lap 3 1.03.213

V- The worst of them all, would hate this car without ABS, race day would be carnage!

my 0.02c...banning aids will = carnage.I cannot set this thing up so aids are good.G25 users have no linear steering adjustments or T/C ABS.I would have to pick up a controller and change values while racing, there's no adjustments for me at all so i welcome aids..This championship is what it is,Why not start another league with aids banned,if there's more takers there then do it.I joined under these rules and want them to stay.Same for everybody is my motto.I wouldnt bother if aids are banned but that might be what the masses want, people who want the challenge of driving perfectly in real world conditions, people who can concentraste, are super fit, reflexes are outstanding.Trying to mix and please both sides will never happen.Im racing in this championship how it is and if its not availabke to participate in then so be it.
I cant compose sentences well,i try but am out of my comfort zone.im more like"shguddup whingers,if u dont like it press start, then exit "..Im goin to put a lap of indy up...with aids so its enjoyable,..

OH,isit me goin over the barrier,i thought it was someone else.longer vid's of what,my laps, spins and carnage, lap record...ill do me fastest lap for starters, but put in request's for vids.
My connection is wired,is much better than wireless which i had first.-5-6 mbps download, just under 1mbps? upload

Also wasnt active suspension on early 90's williams honda's sort of an aid, correcting body roll in the corner, until it was banned. From what i can remember doesnt ASM really slow you down,or bog you dowd so if you chose this aid it slows you. That is my memory trying to think so i might be wrong
Add INDY oval and tokyo bay kart track, wont get bored at tokyo..i dont know how a race with people from round the world & heaps of cars boring.

Hey PB, as you can see I mostly agree with what you are saying here. The FGT is not a formula 1 car, its faster but with less downforce. There will be no changes to the aids this season as people joined under the current rules. So far the only thing im considering banning for season 2 is the TCS, the rest will cause so many incidents it will not be worth changing. We will put TCS to the vote at the end of the season m8, democracy and all that. Im gonna have a practice on indy tonight, some tough corners but ill see what i can do. Off to work now :( gotta pay the bills huh. Speak later m8.

Depending on your perspective, this may be good or bad news: I discovered iRacing :)

Alot of people who chat on a website that shows nascar races do iracing, they say its great but you need a computer yeah?.Here's my 2 fastest laps of the race. Its not in HD because it has to go through my bluray burner thingie? with AV leads

here's a little tip:
set your tranny 1-2 stops higher than the amount needed to redline at the complete end of the longest straight (race)
for qually, remove the 1-2 stops :)

What does that mean Neth?

means im still racing in the series, but also starting to put some time on iracing
the quality / clean racing there is incredible
the monthly fee really takes care of seperating all the young punters who just crash around - and the graphics / physics are great as well

yes PB, its on computer

I looked it up, looks good. Glad your still racing with us though man, one of the dependables :)

PB- Nice lap m8, im going to have to seriously mess with my settings to be competitive on INDY, got some ideas to try out tonight.

Although I am not signed up, I'll add my two cents.

Q1: Separate qualifying event would be fun, but can get complicated getting everyone out in the right spot. Not impossible, just more work for those running it.

Q2: Personally I'd ban all aids except ABS (which you can't really enforce anyway). At a bare minimum get rid of SRF, it doesn't belong in a championship series (no offense to those who use it). I have no idea what driving these Formula cars is like with a controller, but the more aids used with a wheel = the less fun you'll have. Controlled slides are AWESOME. It's the controlled part that is tricky. I realize there has to be a balance with having an authentic experience and having a big grid. The Ferrari F1 League I was in earlier this year had the same tradeoffs. It's impossible to please everyone.

Q3: Again, I am not signed up, but I'd replace High Speed Ring with another GP track or Madrid (even SSR5). And no Suzuka on the schedule. How can that be?

My 3rd cent would be removing penalties. I hate the ghosting effect's intermittent operation. Or at least it seems to work sporadically. Plus people drive differently when there is no ghosting to bail them out.

Thanks for your opinions toolo, at the after season fun race we will be discussing all of these points. I also have grown to hate the 'ghosting' effect, I guess they will be gone next season and the stewards number will increase to 4 with a bigger workload! Not that I mind, I like watching the replays. I have a slot or two available if you fancy it? Albeit with the current regulations.

I think I have some schedule conflicts, if I have the conversion to Eastern US time right, over the coming weeks.

I just noticed your testing. That is interesting info. The previous Season I was involved in (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194996) was run by Mustardaddict (PSN). He wanted to start a GP2-ish series that would be run right before the Ferrari F1s. The specs he came up with was the Formula Gran Turismo limited to 550 hp, and a weight of 688 kg. I think it was all helpers off except ABS (I agree, ABS off is suicide in that car). If I remember it made the car more manageable. Obviously not as mad, and crazy, but still a handful. He may have also tried @ 475 hp and 550 kg

The first thing I did with the FGT after many crashes was change the brake bias to F/R=5/6 (I use DFPGT wheel). I've kept it that way ever since. I still crash it, but no where near as much. Just brake in a straight-ish line and don't stomp on exit.

Obviously the peripheral vision blows in this game, and this car doesn't show side mirrors; so cars going wheel to wheel in the bends is tricky. I wish there was a combination of penalties for cutting/cheating, while allowing full contact. Plus replays/photos are ruined by a ghosted car. It's so lame to have a ghost car on an otherwise cool photo. Our videos for the Ferrari series would have looked crappy in the most exciting parts. Not that videos are that important, but it's part of the experience.

Had a practice last night chaps, not sure what to make of it. Iv decided I like the track but feel like I can go faster somewhere. Again this one is tougher on tyres than DFR and LS, maybe its my set up! Pit strat sorted though :)

Hey PB, im running pretty much the same as you. 1.08's then 1.10's just before stop. My best is 1.07,439 so once again your faster than me!
Really looking forward to the race as usual, its a fairly basic track but surprisingly fun to drive. Nice lap PB very tidy, can only see 1 corner where you missed your line.

Oh and 'I dont need a gun mate, Ive got a dog'

What film?

PIGBOY
What kinda times are we doin.I can run in the 8's,then after 12laps 10's.1:07.2xx is my best.Ive found ride height 2/8 works good 4 me,still trying things. Here's a lap i cobbled together for my facebook page.....
YouTube Link

all aids except abs would be doable, indy oval and daytona road would be great,an indy 500 sort of,takes a fair amount of thinking to win there, drafting,i love close drafting. That gp2 series sounds very good.A bit slower so its not so manic!!Im tired, bedtime for me n staffy, nite

Hey pb. I ran a 106.883 fastest lap for me. I don't know how I pulled that off. 108s are good laps for that track. Peace out

Wow dude, whats your secret?????
Right, im gonna have a quick run round tonight see if I can best it! Your getting faster steve.

Hey. I'm friends with Rhyfel and he told be about this league. I was racing on this track last night and got a 1:07.5xx as my best lap and then 1:08s to 1:12s as my average. I'm going on holiday on Monday so I won't be able to race for 2 weeks but if theres any free places for tomorrow I'd be happy to come along and have a go.

What do you think?

Hey Fergus, Ill allocate you a space on the roster for tomorrow then shift you to a reserve until you get back from Florida ok. Have a read of the rules and be careful of contact, especially while overtaking, see you tommorrow at 645pm.
Good luck.

Cheers buddy. I'll have a double check of the rules now. Can't wait.

Seeya tomorrow :)

No probs.
There is going to be a slight change in the qualifying tomorrow due to traffic problems experienced in the previous few races. We will use the first 10 minutes as practice and then qualify 3 cars at a time, using timed release. You will get an outlap, 2 timed laps and an inlap. This way everyone will get no traffic as they go round. So make sure you can hear the stewards, Nethereal and myself, cheers.

Yeah that sounds good Berty. Just got a 1:06.203! Pretty quick considering I only bought the car last night.
