File Format of PS2 Gamesave

I am sure that this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it using the search function.


I am just curious, what format does the Playstation 2 write files to the memory card. In other words, what file format is a game save on a PS2 memory card.

Good question. There must be one but I have never seen it. The only "saves" I know of are via 3rd party- Sharkport is .SPS, x-port is .XPS and the Max Drive is .MAX, but none of those are native.
