It's the typical lack of communication from PD. Although they did announce we would receive the cars after July fourth,they failed to mention making us wait two months to get them all!
I didn't expect them to bring new life. I just didn't expect PD to find the dumbest way possible to distribute prizes. It just makes you question what on earth they were thinking.
This has hardly got anything to do with any general dissatisfaction, but it does enhance that overall feeling many seem to have.
The 'carrot on a stick' approach they took can't exactly please anyone on the other hand, or can it?
I don't know if it's for technical or tactical reasons but it's not the most usual or obvious route.
But given the nature of the content, it isn't worth getting your knickers in a twist over too.
What WOULD have made sense, would be to distribute prize cars in tandem with the new challenges, at week 3 we get week 1+2 cars, week 4 get the week 3 cars etc...
This would be irritating, but they arent even NEW cars...so meh.
Maybe they are trying to get you to enjoy each one a bit. I know if I got all 8 at once I would probably hop in the GT-R and not even drive the rest. This way I will at least give each one some attention.

This. I would understand if they have to make the GTA cars compatible with GT5 via update, but they are already in the game. Why wait 2 MONTHS just to distribute prize cars and a suit. That's ridiculous.

Could be some DLC marketing here too. Some did it for a car that was/is in a dlc pack, maybe this will push some over the edge and buy the dlc because they can't wait to have the car.

They're only sending out some 'signals' for the server to check if you have gold and then to allow the car to unlock on your game. They're not actually sending us anything out and even if they were I can't see how it would create any more strain on their servers than people downloading updates/DLC for example.
I think this is pretty asinine on PDs part to be honest. I hope this isn't their idea of DLC for the next two months because that would be pretty poor considering they are basically existing cars of what we have with a sticker slapped on them.
I support PD because I really enjoy their franchise, but man, some of these decisions are just....mind...boggling, to say the least.
When I saw that the Leaf was the only GTA car getting delivered, I instantly lost all interest in GT5/PD for a moment. Good grief-at the minimum release a few at a time. Pathetic.
I really fail to understand PD. I've always been a GT enthousiast and I still am. But right now I'm seriously considering not to buy a next GT. The choices they make are soooooo dumb.

Free? Correct. Downloadable now? Nope. You are required to wait 53 full days to download the final content you "deserved/earned".

Odd decisions from all angles. It's suffocating for a "fan" like myself who has been around since 1998. It's sad to see such peculiar decisions and the even more peculiar results of such decisions.
What will PD offer those countries excluded from GT Academy 2012? It was hard enough not to get a chance in GT Academy and now there will be another two months where there is nothing for those who couldn't join the competition.
Yes, it's odd, but it is really something to get worked up over?
EDIT: Nielsen, I live in Canada, and I still get the Leaf. You didn't have to be from one of the eligible regions to actually play the game and get the prizes.
Why is everyone complaining? These are all cars we already have. They are not new in any way other than the stickers. If you want to drive a Tuned 370 buy it, paint it blue, add a wing and some parts, and viola GT Academy car.
Even if we got all the cars today, they are certainly not game changers. I fail to see why so many are upset.
