So finally I had my first properly decent race. Tuning really helps, as always. Did 15 practice laps round Fuji (for the first time ever) in the Ferrari 488 GT3, tuned it up (it's good stock, but great tuned), then did an 8 lap race against 25 AI @75% and had a blast. Only finished 5th but it pleases me that the AI seem to give more of a challenge than the first game, even at 75% (will be a while before I can manage 90-100 again I think). Really great fun!

@RikkiGT-R
I don't' do career so I can't comment on it's issues but I understand your opinion.

wrt to locking, car's are setup differently and have different aero capabilities, a.e., you can full push the brakes on a formula car but you'll have to be careful because when you run out of aero it will lock so you have to modulate the brakes.

Others might be setup with too much brake pressure and that alone makes them lock promptly.

To meu, what you describe is something I would expect under various hypothesis and can't quite consider an issue. More details that can be adjusted either in game or by adopting to the car (setups are not magic - example, some leaderboards are already showing people with default setups having the best time while others use setups and don't get even close)

I don't know your experience in simracing so don't think I'm dismissing what you're saying. It's just hard to understand (so far) what the hell is happening. With this in mind just to make sure you, you're on PC and using wheel and pedals or gamepad or on a console...

@RomKnight - it's irrelevant. My refund was rejected by Steam so I'm just going to carry on playing and fight through the frustration.

I'm on PC though. T150 & T3PA pedals.

I don't think it's irrelevant especially if you have to be "stuck with it". You can surely get a much better experience and other users with the same wheel can chime in.

Please post your settings of the controllers and the results of calibration.

That being said, you'll probably have more luck doing so in the public forums.

So, try to increase... or decrease (I always mess this up i'm sorry) the sensitivity of the brake pedal in the global options in the controller menu. I think you want to decrease. Start at 40% instead of 50.

Then try the car. If it's worse than it's because you need to try 605 instead of 50 :D

After dialling that (it's global so you might not want to mess to much) to fine tune go to the car setup and adjust the brake force.

OFC, brake bias plays a role as does the differential settings but it's not the point here (for now) and TBH the game's "engineer" although basic might do a better job than me :D

I am doing the G40 at Scotland.
AI og 90% and 75% aggression.
In the rain. I can't do the last corner very well and usually loose like .4 seconds there. But i gain that and more down the straight. It would seem as if the AI just isn't putting the pedal to the metal?

Second thing I'm struggling to understand. As the rain stops and the track dry up, the car becomes much more unstable? Mid corner oversteer ... I can't get my head around why it would do that

But I'm having a big old smile anyhow
.

After adjusting the ffb to my liking, I really like pc2. Playing with a Thrustmaster TX on Xbox one.

My only complaint is the graphics aren't that great on Xbox one. Especially the jaggy shadows from trees on Nurburgring. It's kind of distracting. Hopefully the one x resolves that.

First impressions of NASCAR? Awesome. Had a few clean races with people at Daytona and Indy and they were great. At Indy my car turned into the world's loosest thing on the planet and that wasn't helped by 2 spins.

Also won in a Coyne at Indy. :)

Just started watching the vid and I must say the anti-aliasing is noticeably better on PS4 Pro (you used a PS4 pro right?) Almost night and day, very noticeable on the white grid marker lines on the floor for example. Really don't want to upgrade but the difference in visuals is big.

Is anti-aliasing a setting you can adjust in this game? And is anti-aliasing the only setting to make this game look the best?

One thing I find strange is that being able to save setups is great but the way the game has implemented setup saving is really frustrating when you just want to change something for one session and not save it.

Why do we have to save everything as a setup profile and name it?

PS4 Pro first impressions

Great audio and video.
(With the exception of the opening video which looks like it was shot through a thin layer of milk)
Video delivery is perfectly smooth at all times.

Many default parameter settings are complete rubbish. Maybe SMS are more than slightly mad. Or this was a deliberate ploy to force us into exploring and understanding parameter settings. Whatever, for me, it's a steep learning curve. As I tweak the parameters, car drivability is improving, with a way to go.

The UI takes some getting used to. Some UI options can't be altered when using a wheel. Wheel options can't be set using a controller.

Most of the help text is helpful, a few entries are obscure.

Leaderboards appear to be global and only include the absolutely fastest cars. If you're driving slower cars and want a benchmark, you're out of luck

If you suddenly crash on the 'Ring, it may be because you bumped an invisible object on the edge of the track. I'm not talking about a kerb. The replay shows my right wheels touching the grass on the right and my car being flung across the track with amazing force.

It's a quirky game, but worth persevering I'm thinking.

Just realized something. Few people reporting engine sound cutting out, especially over kerbs. Guys that's your Traction Control system cutting your throttle. There's nothing wrong with your game/speakers. You can verify this by disabling the TC and you will continue to hear the engine/throttle under those conditions.

First thing I noticed was how quiet the game was. I keep my tv at 12 when watching television, for PCars1 I had to go down to 10, AC to 11. But for PCars2 I've had to move it up to 16.

The menus look nice except for the livery selection. I miss the old livery selector where you saw the car up close and it rotated around. The new menu looks very old and the colors are plain.

Speaking of colors, the colors of the game in total still look a little dull and washed out to me. I was expecting things to pop more. Maybe Xbox 1 X will bring it out more.

I thought I had read where Immersive was the way to go but when I first tried that I got huge wheel shake and the wheel was very stiff and snapped back to center. Saw where RomKnight had said that he didn't like immersive on the Fanatec so I changed to raw and instantly everything felt much better. Now I don't feel as thought there are still huge adjustments to make. Now I think it's going to be down to minor adjustments.

The thing I dislike the most about gameplay is the excessive wheel squeal noise. You even look at the brake pedal and the tire noise starts. It makes it hard to figure out if you're locking up or not.

The AI seems to be much faster than PCars1. In PCars1 1 I had strength set at 70. I like to run 10 lap quick races, no qualifying, random starting position, and that allows me to fight to win even if I start at the back.

I only had a couple of hours to play on the first night but I'm impressed that I was able to find something that allowed me to race and have fun that quickly. With PCars1 it took me at least a couple of weeks or more to find settings that I liked. I think that is a testament to how much effort SMS put into fixing the FFB problem.

I already have some first impressions before but I’m giving it again. I finally had a chance to play with my Oculus Rift and Thrustmaster TX in my Playseat Challenege.

It’s insane! It’s nuts! It’s absolutely amazing.

I never could drift in a game before even if my life depended on it. Not anymore!!!

I was doing the two community events - Catheram and Nissan ones and I could not stop smiling. Having now found the correct FFB and Graphics settings I can focus on the driving and it’s just glorious. I never had this much fun driving. Whereas with the controller I can drive semi decently, I never feel in total control of the car. I can do it but sometime I feel the mistakes are not my own. With the wheel I feel like I totally own the car. If I make a mistake or spin out it’s only my fault. The car and the wheel tell me what’s going on precisely.

And that’s only 2 cars on 2 tracks. There is so much more content. I hope even half of it is of this quality, cause I don’t think I’d need more than that.

Currently qualifying for Round 2 of the Ginetta Junior cup. Xbox One, standard controller.

First off I have to say that driving with the controller is so much better in comparison to PC1, though I did have to tinker with the various deadzone/sensitivity settings for a while. I am now able to take corners and have a better chance of save my car from spins, and I only lose it if I go a little too hot or take a bad line.

The weather system is fantastic, especially how the game handles rain and puddles. I like that puddles don't stay in the same spot (And seem to be cleared out as more cars cover the racing line). It's much better than Forza, where dealing with puddles, even in a low end car, would just remove all grip and take a second to recover. Like I said, I'm in the Ginetta series, so this is probably a different case for when I work my way to the higher-end vehicles.

The racing itself is pretty fun. I haven't changed the aggression meter with the AI, but I do like how other drivers will defend their positions and try and funnel you if you're going for a pass at similar speeds. Makes the racing pretty intense at times.

Overall pretty happy with the experience so far. It seems that, while PC2 is definitely a simulator, it feels more like a game than PC1, in that it's actually possible to have fun, close races, and the only thing getting in your way is your own ability.

After day one I posted that I was underwhelmed (PS4 Pro and wheel user). I'm still disappointed with the quietness of the game and the fact that I now can't get my tactile effects system to work (which was perfect on PC1) because there just isn't enough audio signal.

Relieved to hear that the AI ramming from behind will be patched.

Second day impressions - some cars seem to have had a lot more attention - they drive nicely and they move smoothly, while others have been treated like a ginger step child - the AI move them in a series of wobbly clicks and they spin out seemingly at random.

The Ginettas - all excellent and improved from PC1. Lotus 38 and Aston Martin DBR1/300 1959 - improved. BMW 2002 SW and Merc AMG 6.8 - worse. Ferrari Daytona and 330 P4 excellent. Nissan 240ZG almost inaudible.

Agajanian Watson Roadster - what a revelation - being a 2 speed Indy car, was expecting something as useful as a chocolate teapot, but must be a contender for most enjoyable car in the game!

Enjoying the game so far and definitely more so than day 1, but still unable to get multi-class to work - the game only wants a maximum of 2 classes and only wants Group 5 for the second class!

I was hoping for more hosting options because they are too limited in PC1, but there seem to be even less. I tried hosting a couple of online test races, but half the hosting options seem to be missing - as if I was missing a screen or two of options. I regularly host a couple of online championships - not sure how I can switch to PC2 yet. I couldn't find a "Warmup" option - that is where older gentlemen have a comfort break after qualifying and before the race starts (normally set to 5 minutes). Couldn't find the force default setups option - my league only races with those. There must be a screen missing!

The online name tags above the cars are much bigger and easier to read. It would be nice to have different colour ones for AI compared with human opponents.

Menus generally better and easier to watch replays, but sometimes people were missing from the cars which looks strange.

Historic car classes are a disappointment - I did a race with a 1973 BMW against a 1966 Mustang and a 2015 Toyota! Chevy Camaro seems a strange car to be racing against a Ferrari Daytona. back in the day the Camaro's and Mustangs raced Mercs and Escorts in the ETCC and BTCC. The Ferrari Daytona raced Porsche RSR's, Corvette's and De Tomaso Pantera GT4 in the World Sports Car Championship.

There is now enough Historic content to justify (demand) a Historic career section - a major omission in my view. I only did about one hour of the career in PC1, but if a Historic section was present it might be enough to hook me.

Overall - good value, but could be better and hopefully will gain the needed polish from updates.

Everyone in the lobby with a mic has to be muted, the volume is so loud it feels like they are sat next to you, screaming in your ear.

Presumably the mics are now so loud because the game is so quite compared with PC1?

Is anti-aliasing a setting you can adjust in this game? And is anti-aliasing the only setting to make this game look the best?
No, it can't be adjusted. I started a thread on the official forums asking if something like the first game's temporal slider could be implemented but have had no hits. I'm slowly getting used to it, but at times it's just so distracting with lots of flicker and jaggies on everything. I even lowered the sharpness on my TV but the image became too blurry. It's my only real gripe with the graphics.

There are no setting to affect the look other than post processing but the game looks better with that left on.

The driving is great though and I still haven't found a car I didn't like. That's something I couldn't say about pCARS1.

My first impressions PS4 PRO
The IA in career mode seems buged
We need constantly increase or decrease the IA level but i´m in the Ginetta Junior 3 race my first championship
Then the qualifacation bug need to be fixed very soon and Ian we need a fast forward (»») button to acellarate the time.
I think it´s very imprtant and how you don´t think about this?

The online lobby for my surprise runs very well with no desconexions for my friends with 4 players
No tested yet with more
When anyone joint us theres a little brake but to small
But the online IA JESUS what a mess just work with 40% agressivite or less, more than that and it´s kick in the ass all time

The graphics goods but in other hand sometimes not so good with technical problems

For now i`m liking the game but disapointing with some basic bugs that need to be fixed
Overall a solid 8 but with potencial to 9,5/10 if patched how it desearves

First impressions : Undrivable.

I use Logitech G29, default set up is rubbish as always. And setting up the wheel's ffb is still a non user-friendly. It can be done, but it will be difficult to find your liking for some.

Graphics : OK "Standard PS4"

Car sounds : still has that arcadish sound in some cars, but overall OK... I guess :)

Tbh it looks very similar to PC1 so far, but I'm sure there will be more updates coming.

First Question:
Yesterday I participated in some races online, the first was with a car of the class RALYCROSS, then was TC, TOURING and GT3. Everyone knows that the driving characteristics of the RALYCROSS class cars are specific and totally different from the other classes and if you compare it you will realize the difference.
After running with the POLO car of the class RALYCROSS, all other cars of the other classes assumed the same characteristics of the car POLO, the direction, acceleration, the brakes, in short, was driving a car with the physical characteristics of another car. It happened again an old known problem in pcars1, the car take on the characteristics of another car.
Second Question: I use a 7.1 surround system and I'm having problems, the sound is not working on all channels and when I change the sound output in the MENU and return, the sound switches channels but never works on all channels.
Third Issue: OpenTrack is not working.

Using a PS4 Pro here with a 4K HDR10 TV. Got a chance to play this game last night. Everything is very good except for the graphics. There are weird flickering shadows. There are weird black lines in the background environment. The grass looks very blurry with no detail at all. The graphics is just plain bad. It is also the same during Replay videos.

I am not sure if either my TV is adjustments are not good. Or the PS4 Pro picture adjustments are not good. Or the visual adjustments within the game itself are not good.

When I play DriveClub on the PS4 Pro, graphics just look so good and very detail and lifelike. So I don't think it is the PS4 Pro picture settings or the TV picture settings. I am thinking the game needs a serious patch for the graphics department.

Thinking of upgrading to a pro myself but doesn't seem worth it if developers can't make the game itself look better

Personally I don't have any issues with how it looks on the Pro.

Given what it's focus is I was never expecting it to match DC visually.

I was able to test today the BMW 1 Series M coupè on the Nordschleife in Project CARS/Assetto Corsa and I like the BMW 1M in Project CARS more. The car is just more agile mid corner off throttle in Project CARS compared to Assetto Corsa BMW 1M which has huge understeer mid corner even off throttle. But the wheel spin on throttle(drift) is felt a bit more realistic and easy to control in Assetto Corsa BMW 1M.The Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa is better.
