So yeah, Forza 4 demo, it's fantastic and I can't wait until next week. Microsoft makes amazing racing sims, and i've been remembering some of the racing games they've made over the years; a lot of people don't realize this, but Forza is not Microsofts first attempt at creating a racing sim.

I've been thinking a lot about how Turn-10 and Polyphony Digital should team up and make a sim together, a lot people throw that around, but honestly? Hell no, because lets be honest, anything PD does, Turn-10 has done it as well, and done it significantly better and with better quality, across the board. After playing Forza 4, I just don't see GT5 being worth anything at all, PD needs to go back and try again. I hope they can get GT6 out next year.

What was their first attempt at a racing sim?

Trying to find what its called, but I know they did a formula-1 game at one point. They've been making/publishing racing sims since as far back as at least 95.

In Forza3 , if you want to play a customizable online , you must play in " private lobby " only .
But dont worry , in Forza4 , customizable online public is back ! Same as Forza2 or GT5 :) And talking online , the net code of Forza is soooo far better than GT5 netcode. The gameplay and the car's reaction are the same as offline ( if you play with people of your region off course ... )
Gt5's online have a lot of options is right , but the netcode is bad and finally the online play came a little bit useless IMO ...

That's good to know, GT5's netcode was a joke. Cars not appearing in races, mics not working, constant dropped connections, the thing rarely worked and PD still hasn't bothered to fix it. I wonder if GT5 should have even had multiplayer, PD really was not up to the task of providing a quality service for players. Remember, multiplayer had to be patched into the game at launch, that's probably why it was delayed in the first place near the end of October, last year.

played the beta-demo, and what i can say about is. ..

awsome!

-shadows are clean and not pixelated
-continuous music ingame
-K.I for beta demo, great!
-car details, all at a high level. Not bad modeled cars!
-Driving experience like in GT5, the road also gives great feedback
-smooth and direct control
-Each car has a cockpit view, which looks beautiful
who wants more details, auto vista. . .
What also makes sense because who it interrested, while driving, how many details are the lights?

-fog does not render pixel on the car
-the track looks very detailed!
-no bitmap graphics
-Grass moves along the roadside
-everything is reflected on the cars! INGAME!!
-no FPS Downs. not even in curves

and all this for a demo! Beta! demo!. . .

The F4 Demo feels certainly better than the fullprice game GT5!!

Got your hopes extremely high don't you think?

Well, this is Polyphony, but they seem to be hiring and opened up a new office in Japan. They have a very good foundation with which to work with already and we know they started GT6's development before GT5 even launched. So I don't see why not.

Not really, PD can finally start doing what T10 has been doing and improve rough edges step by step, game by game. As they have been doing (well bin trying to) patch by patch. Gt6 shouldnt take and longer than 2 - 4 years... I hope

Edited
With PD just releasing Spec2 in a couple weeks and DLC supposedly after that, I don't see GT6 coming until early 2014 at the VERY earliest and to be honest even that would surprise me. My gut feeling is that is when GT6 Prologue will be released.

Fixed it for you. How many times was GT4 delayed? How about GT5? And when GT5 was released did he say he needed another few years to finish it to his liking? So, if he had it his way, it would have taken 6 years to get GT5 completed.
I hope in 2-4 years were aren't still playing 360s and PS3s.

Where do you come up with all these magic time lines? In a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?

Look back at when consoles have been announced and when they come out. Nintendo will have their new console out next christmas. Historically, for the last few console generations, this is how its always worked. If someone got their console out first, everyone else followed a year later, at the very least.

This Spec-2 update for GT5 better be one hell of a bombshell just to stay competitive w/ Forza 4

Forza will outsell GT5 during the release month(s) as Forza 4 is a new game, and GT5 is just revived w/ a bit more content.

I dont think that Forza can win in overall sales, however... Gran-Turismo has been around longer, and the Playstation series of consoles has always been more accessable and cheaper. 12mil is one hell of a total after all...

Here's my opinions guys. There's a lot of bickering in this thread about two games that have positives and negatives on each side. There's a lot of Forza heavy followers. But in reality they both excel and fail in different areas.

Well seeing the first GT took around 5 years to create on the original PS, l dont see how this is any different. Once again they started from scratch. What l dont get is what content kaz could have possibly added to the game, considering how bad of an experiance most gamers ran into unfortunatly, unless it was to smooth edge's and shaders as a whole.

And please, refrain from the "oh have fun waiting an unrealistic surpluss amount of years for the next GT ". Like l stated, the wait for the next GT can be a lot shorter than most people think, because now they just have to fix the rough edges and sharp glares, as apposed to completely redesigning a lighting engine...

Hey Forza fans, thanks for holding your game to such high standards, because it will make Kaz wake up at some point, who knows Spec 2 might have in store... :D

I love Gran Turismo. But 1 of 3 things are going to happen.

1. It gets delayed (Most likely)
2. It's completely useless
3. Or it could be completely fine

Super Saiyan Kaz Vegeta-like Get

LEt's hope, for the spirit of the "no competition" he has, that 2.0 is what GT fans want and not some quirky Nipponesque fail. I really hope you guys sincerely do

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a batch of DLC kei cars and new pointless features, but one can only hope...

That's the major problem with Kaz, the Gran Turismo series has great potential, but Kaz doesn't know what he wants to do with it and that's why PD might stop making GT within the near future. :( Kaz barely cares about us fans, he just wants to make it his super kei car and Hitler wagon simulator. :(

Haha, I'd like a Hot Hatch DLC. Ford Focus RS and RS500, Cosworth STI, European Civic Type R Hatch, MazdaSpeed Axela. And some more i'm sure i'm missing. But I doubt it will happen.

I feel like he's more interested in his Nurbugring 24H races than anything

A hot hatch DLC would be nice. :) As I've always said in the past, it seems like the priorities at PD are messed up and because of that they are biased and will never put a good/equal amount of cars from various countries. But even if those cars were in the game they would mess them up because they'd use genetic engine sounds and the transmission scream is 🤬 louder than the in-game music sometimes, the engine is barely audible.

Back to some actual Forza/ Gran Turismo debate- I do have an honest question/ concern.

I have only recently played Forza 3 online and I wasn't too pleased. I went into I guess what is called the anything goes room where you can drive what you want. Everyone seems to get into an R1 or X rated car with a 950+ PI. And the first turn, maybe two turns into a destruction derby. Is this common or did I end up in newbie land?
And I found a lobby where everyone was restricted to the same car with no mods. There people would cheat. Same dude two races in a row, I would tailgate him to draft and hopefully catch up. He'd slam on his brakes in the middle of a straightaway to get me to ram him to get some distance between us. And I saw a lot of pushing people off the road to get ahead. Is this really common?

Admittedly, I am more used to the GT5 online feature. I like how you can set your own preferences in the room. Want to set a max PI or HP? No problem. Want to make sure everyone who races has all the aids off? No problem. Want to pick your own car and to a room vote for a track? No problem. Want to include penalties for cheating and ramming? No problem. Their online setup seems a lot more customizable and I like it. Does Forza have these sort of rooms or features that I am missing or are they just missing from online play?

If the Forza 4 online setup isn't as customizable as GT5, I will be disappointed. The rooms I joined I knew what I was getting in to and had a lot of great races. Or maybe I just haven't found the right room or know enough people on XBL to get a good race in yet.

I just started playing FM3 a little over a month now. I must say online is pretty decent. I play the Multiclass (A class and E Class) and C class circuits. MOST of the time its clean races, but there are always a few idiots, that try to win in the first corner.

I met a few people and have fun doing the online races. The thing I am looking forward to in FM4 is the CUSTOM rooms. I do like being able to play the private rooms in FM3, but getting more than 3 people seems hard to do. This is due to not many friends on my list. Maybe the game is puttering out with FM4 coming next week?

Anyway the online portion that I have been playing is light years ahead of others, on the console. Mostly clean races, no lag, and no different physics.

I only hear the whining noise from the transmission with the upgraded ones. Aren't the transmissions the loudest piece in some slower race cars?

The problem is, it is like that on modified road going cars. Iv'e never heard a road car with tranny whine like GT5. If there are a few that do it's very rare since I have never heard it and I have heard and been in ALLOT of modified road going cars.

maybe they put racing tranny's in the game. rather than upgraded street ones. i never really noticed the sound. not sure why.

Then you haven't heard a modified road car with straight cut gears:)
