It's becoming overwhelmingly more "I'm right, and you're wrong, and I'm not going to hear your side of the story."
Man I was saving this ace in the hole for when FM4 dropped. Just in-case the autovista cars take better pictures than everything else. Oh well, might as well just pull it now.But those better graphics are limited to 20% of the cars available in the game.
The standards cant even compete with FM1 models.
A sand cake with some strawberrys on top is not better than an average apple pie and you find out soon that it is not enjoyable.
The graphics argument is really pointless, because it doesnt represent the overall quality of GT5.
FM4 will come with very high detailed cars and all have cockpit and can be tuned. There is a general quality in the game that doesnt get shaken by standard cars or bad looking tracks. This is quite important and GT5 feels more like a beta game, because of the overall bad presentation.

They should rename this the official Forza/Gran Turismo fanboy thread.

👍what gets me is how some folk will say "hey we have the best lighting system" whilst totally omitting the god awful shadows that cannot be ignored, or saying "look at how detailed our cars are" whilst ignoring the 80% that are PS2 ports.
👍
Well, not ignoring GT5's most glaring flaws would end this discussion on the spot. So nobody's doing it. Or wants it to be done.
You know I never really tried. I did try once kinda hard in GT5 but in FM3 I usually just take some glare off and reduce saturation some and that's about it. Best I've ever come up with is these ...

But for everyone of these I got a ton that scream "GAME" for both. LOL
hey, that's a great picture of a really cool guy driving the 99 pushing his equally great racing club teammate driving the 18.![]()
I don't think people are actually choosing only the best looking 20% of cars for FM3, though. In fact, I wouldn't even know which cars to pick for that...Exactly. Comparing Standard GT5 cars to even Forza 3 is not even fair. We are taking the best from both games and comparing that. If we were to take the worst from both Im sure we can find much worse things in GT5 than we can in Forza3
It matter if you want to enjoy +800 more simulated cars with GT5 premium physics.Car numbers dont matter, IF the car models are not up to the standard of the day, and if you do want to play the numbers game, as PD has done, then they cant expect people not to hold that against them when the quality suffers as a result.
You cant pick the best 20% of the cars in FM# because they are all modeled equally. We are taking the best pics of FM4 (in some cases FM3) no matter what the cars are (since they are all modeled the same) and comparing them with the best pics from GT5. At least this is what im getting from these discussions.I don't think people are actually choosing only the best looking 20% of cars for FM3, though. Also, I think it wouldn't be unfair to compare the standard cars as well. They are in the game, so they should be judged as well. I mean, why wouldn't you? That's like saying that we shouldn't take FM3's Nordschleife into consideration when talking about track accuracy. And I haven't seen anyone doing so, including myself.

Anyway the standards look way better than they did in PS2/PSP mainly thanks to the new lighting engine in GT5. I would not compare with FM3 ingame cars in terms of detail but aside of camera close-ups the standards can look better, specially in gameplay at mid and far distances when the lower LODs begin to appear in FM3. The higher screen resolution in GT5 also helps to retain the look in the distances.
What are premium physics? I thought the game had the same physics regardless of standard or premium cars.

So, we're basically making excuses for GT5 just so we can keep discussing which game is better? I mean, fine with me, but what's the point of discussing which game is better when we're ruling one of the biggest arguments against one of the two games out, because it would be 'unfair'?I just dont see the point in comparing Forza 3 or 4 to standard cars in GT5. Forza wins discussion closed. See what I mean now? Thats like comparing PS2 graphics with Xbox360 graphics. There is no comparison. The only close comparison we have when it comes to graphics is GT5 (premium cars) and FM4 (maybe in some cases FM3).
Just a reminder of what standard cars are, people always blame its graphics vs premium calling PS2 cars but they miss the point and the main reason why they are in GT5.What are premium physics? I thought the game had the same physics regardless of standard or premium cars.
Forza shots also does not show gameplay quality. Jaggies is not a fault only present with GT5 standards. There are a lot of standards that look good, for example a lot of the race cars liveries are at the level of FM3 gameplay cars. Not all standard cars are a jagged mess with no details.. some people flooded the net with the worst possible pics of a standard but they are not that bad except for photomode. Those shots clearly doesnt show gameplay quality. When you drive, most of the have jaggies like hell. On the other hand, there are quite a few good looking standards, which should be taken into account!

I get that point, of course.I see your point when discussing the games as a whole.
To me I have always just considered GT5 to have only 200 cars with the 800 standard cars as just being a thrown in item since they didn't have time to get them all re-rendered. My point about it not being worth discussing the standard cars is that there is nothing to discuss, everyone knows they look like garbage. Forza vs standard GT cars, Forza wins case closed, there is nothing to discuss. That just doesn't make for an interesting debate.
