Right now, I'm very curious whether they changed the physics from the demo to the retail version. If not, I think we can breave easy.

GT5 is the best physics on console to date.

^ That's why I said "I haven't seen that kind of smoke screen in a real race for quite some time".

WTCC, Le Mans, F1 and such... I just never see these kinds of smoke screens, but in GT5, they seem pretty common, no?

Yes it is maybe slightly more common and easier to create than normal but you wont hear me complaining. :D

I'd rather have slightly too much smoke than not enough. 👍

Well, if GT5 physics can't match up to FM3 physics, I think GT5 will not match up with FM4.

@Bogie
That's a joke, GT5 is the best physics on console to date.

This is what makes the most interesting debate in my opinion. There seems to be almost a 50/50 split of opinion on which game has the better physics. Both games are off but in opposite sides of the spectrum (if that makes sense) but imo GT5 did do it slightly better.

October 3rd, yup.

Better than FM3, in my opinion, yes. Best on consoles, dunno. I haven't spent enough time with it, but GTR left me pretty impressed. And one should never rule Simbin games out when talking about physics ;)

Eh, I wouldn't mind more smoke at all, neither a bit too much, it's all downsides combined that turn me off a bit in GT5's case.

At least we know T10 will give us as much as possible without compromising in other departments.

@Luminis
True in regards to physics, but I believe overall in conjunction with track surface, track replication, variety of vehicle replications, it takes the cake for physics on console and outdoes whatever some feel as downsides.

FM3's permanent steering assist doesn't qualify with GT5's physics. FACT.

Kinda like the wall riding physics of GT5 doesn't qualify with FM3's physics.

That said, Race Pro physics destroy FM3 and GT5 physics, inside and out.

I know we're beyond that. old news.

Oh I know.

I take it you never played Race Pro, Ferrari Challenge or Supercar Challenge then?

Yeah, most consoles games that I'd consider to be better have much less variety in terms of vehicles, that's true. I'm still so-so about agreeing with GT5 as the current best console racer in regards to physics. Mostly because I find the variety not as important as the impression of quality and authenticity.

I dont care all i want is real freaking drag racing, that is something that gt5 misses funny enough, since Kaz is a pro race driver and guru.....on fm4 i will drag you all...i will be the drag "queen"

You know the GT5 logo is pretty bad. I mean its a G and a T. Forza has much better logo, because it has the F, and the Zah sound in Forza is just awesome.

So yeah GT5 logo < FM3 logo.

I mean we got down to the BGM debate might as well keep nitpicking the smallest detail, no?:sly:

EDIT

Gt for gran turismo... What more "of" anything different do "you" need?

This ipod 4g app is still buggy in some areas :(...

Well, I'm not exaclty sure what you're talking about, either, Bogie.

I mean, there are two things that come to my mind about wallriding in GT5:
1) Smashing the car in the wall or armco and bouncing of because it's potentially faster than braking sometimes and you're not getting punished.
2) Some cars sticking to the outside wall on oval tracks for a while on high speeds.

Neither seems brilliant, so you've got a point, either way :D

What more any anything different do need?
1) Grammar.
2) Sense of humor.

Mostly number 1 and number 2 ;)

You're right with number one, number two is something I've seen rarely anywhere else. Not something I'm holding against GT5, but there are some, well, peculiar things the physics engine will allow you to do. Let me demonstrate:

Some of these will also show the overly sensitive production of tyre smoke I spoke of earlier.

That's nothing I would be holding against GT5 per se, as you have to know how to do it and its not that much of an issue most of the time. On the other hand, some people hold it against FM3 that you can exploit the weaknesses of the physics engine and drive fast with overinflated tyres, for example, so maybe that could put that into some perspective.

Are you serious? Sarcasm called, and said you can no longer attend meetings...perma-ban.

I'm faster than any wall rider. And you have that in all race games, come on guys your better than that. Don't be ignorant.

No. You see in other racing games, there are things called other cars. I know in GT5 they can see be seen as brake-helpers, and even though they look like say a Yaris, they weigh 100 tons, but in the real world, and in some modern games, running into them can have dire effects.

Your point of GT5 having the best physics hands down is totally your opinion, but I find it funny as hell. Ferrari Challenge, and Race Pro both trump any console physics to this day....sadly. I assume you have not played those? Because when someoen makes such a silly comment, chanes are, it is out of ignorance of other games.

At least we know T10 will give us as much as possible without compromising in other departments.

Like cockpits looking like they've been painted on a canvas and slapped in front of the TV? Or visible tyre flexing that looks like bubble gum on the tyre? Or hoppers to address the monotony of leaderboard cars in races? Or amnesty cars for people kicked out of XBL for glitching? Or 12 month DLC coming in 8 helpings? Or steering assists that can't be turned off? Or AWD supremacy carried over from the predecessor?

This thread gets turned into a shambles yet again by a few folks that have obviously far too much time on their hands to spam this part of the forums.

Never gets old, does it? It's like a disease spreading like cancer on the Internet.

Yes, shadows and smoke have improved, just face it, there's no denying. It's not perfect but far better than in the early stages of the game.

Denying this fact is just a feeble attempt to annoy people actually being a part of the fanbase which made gtplanet what it is today.

You don't have to agree to a point made, but this total state of denial gets a bit tedious.
