Yeah, there's that... And there's also the fact that the pictures of FM4 are hand-me-downs from the devs, why we have access to a huge amount of material from GT5, which makes it easier to find (or create) some awesome pictures to make a comparison. For FM4, our choices are very limited - for now. There's even a shot of the LFA in the leaked trailer in a barn and the lighting on that looks better than the warehouse LFA shot above. I don't know what was with the decision to use that environment/lighting combo by T10. It really isn't all that flattering and I've thought that since day one.
Either way, I still am a bit sceptical about matching GT5 in photo mode. None of the graphical shortcomings of the in-race graphics are of importance here, so it really looks its best... And that's pretty hard to match.

Which then would raise the point about a fair comparison. What is a fair comparison in that regard? We obviously can't take all cars into account for GT5... Bringing the standard cars into the debate would end the debate right there. It'd get very onesided and rub a lot of people the wrong way. So, only premium cars, whicch means the best 220 cars out of GT5. Question is, what could those be fairly compared to? The 220 best cars out of Forza 4? Including AutoVista or not? This could be, for example, important when it comes to subtle errors in the modelling... If we were comparing just the 220 best cars of each game, it'd be easy to avoid all of those for FM4 and get rid of a point that's been brought up a lot.
I know that'd cut T10 a lot of slack, but on the other hand, that's happening when only taking the good looking stuff from GT5 into account, too.
What I'm trying to say is, both games are close and I doubt we'll ever find a truly fair way to compare them, graphically....
