It's was pretty much a "performance" version of the Crown Victoria with ballistic doors and a badge slapped onto it.

Sure, there's the Marauder, but poor people can't afford it, and it doesn't protect you from 12 gauge.

People seem a bit confused, so I'll explain it a bit.

The P71 Police Interceptor was a fleet vehicle sold by Ford. It was your everyday Crown Vic with some modifications. The suspension was stiffer, and the engine came with dual exhaust which is optional on civilian CVs. The engine and transmission were tuned differently and it later recieved some intake bits from the Marauder. It also had an oil cooler, and a few other police accessories. It borrowed the steel wheels and black grill from the Taxi model.

Crown Victoria, 2000s Impala, '74 Dodge Monaco, Lamborghini Gallardo, you know, your typical police vehicles...

European and japanese ones aswell, though I don't know which ones are popularly used in these places. Some old cars from the 50's would also be really cool.

The police stuff is aftermarket. It's just like a normal CV. Hell, a decent chunk of the Crown Vics you see in the street are PIs.

The motor isn't even close. Too much power. Also, you can't replicate the suspension because of the spring rates.

Technically it isn't a police car unless it has emergency lights, radio and a siren, none of which came from the factory.

I wouldn't mind taking my P71 for a virtual drive (picture on the left). Unfortunately, other than being the top choice for police agency's till 2011, I don't know what motor racing significance it has to be included in the Gran Turismo series.

Those cars are involved in various legitimate motorsports, even if not always the most popular.
The list of manufacturers who have not always supported motorsports is somewhat extensive.
I know a few companies who have supported a very wide variety of motorsports obsessively.
They were some of the biggest supporters of Gran Turismo when it first came out as well.
All I can say, If someone wants to turn donuts in a Crown Vic, maybe GT isn't their thing.
There are many other games that cater to those kinds of shenanigans, one less is okay.
