I haven't seen any, but I know that the first is on the main straight and the second is between Turn 2 and 3.

I guessed that from looking at where the wings are open in practice but I wanted to know how long they are.

Yes. All cars are hitting the limiter so it is who picked the longest 8th gear. With the rules now they have the same gears all season.

Does anyone know why they don't allow filming of the President's Palace?
 
Watching now and Baku looks incredible! Already thinking I will have to look into 2017 tickets, or even just a hotel overlooking the circuit itself!

Seeing a lot of start line drag races too, all the makings of a fascinating race on Sunday!

What are weather predictions for rest of the weekend? Looks like it rained overnight.

I'm shocked. Even more so that Alonso and Button are sitting 5th and 7th respectively so far.

Edit: Alonso in 4th now
 
Ricciardo first victim. That corner looks tricky with a number of drivers getting it wrong already. Red Flagged now.

Ricciardo says someone will crash at the castle wall, I think the second to last real corner is a much more likely candidate, looks very easy to overcook it and slam straight into the outside wall.

That was quite a hit. Lots of damge done to the rear right area of the car.
 
Surprisingly good canera angle for the replays, since they're not really allowed to film much there.

Quick answer - security.

EDIT: Silly little crash for Sainz. Knew he was heading for run off area but tried to save a small amount of time turning around. Cost - Front wing.
 
Doubt the FIA will be happy with Ericsson driving back against the track briefly there.

Ironically, when I googled the reason why there's a filming ban on the Palace, information about the ban on pornography in Asia popped up...

True security is an issue but at the same time our royal and government buildings get filmed.


Although then we are not famous for having people arrested for speaking against the government.
 
P4 and P7 for McLaren is good, but I fear it won't last. Ferrari and Red Bull weren't showing the hand (it seemed) and the track temperature will go down as we move closer to the race time, so if McLaren can do this again in FP2, then I'll start getting excited.

Hopefully, they can do it again.
 
I prefer it the way it is. Slow corner into a medium speed corner into the long straight should allow some good chances into Turn 1. If it was faster, the aero degradation of being too close to someone begins after Turn 12 and is made worse by turn 16 if they have somehow stayed close. Plus the errors we have seen today suggest it is difficult for the drivers.
 
The curbs have been shredding the cars apparently. GP2 quali just got red flagged within the out lap for everyone and has been rescheduled to after FP2.
