He was just about within the limits on the start position in the sprint, and he got the normal penalty for the unsafe release, which dropped him to last in the sprint. So what benefit did he get?

He was beyond the spot, per their own notes. He impeded 3 drivers the session before. The unsafe release was on the team. He's been getting away without any on-track repercussions all weekend.

You can **** all you want, he's given a long leash the last 2 years.
