Mark Gillan from Williams said that it's extremely hard to get technical evidence against Red Bull for illegal engine mapping. Heard it on Finnish TV interview. So possibly no penalty for them.

I don't know about Joe Bauer, Jack Bauer might be a better choice.

The FIA need to be clear beforehand. Who makes these rules? They are designed to be broken.

First of all, Pastor for the win.

Secondly, as for RedBull's potential breach of regulations, again, even though i was against retroactively changing results , if FIA continues to be so slow on making decisions they might as well give them both 2012 championships and ban them from racing in 2013.
 
This is like the holes and slots debate - although Red Bull are in the wrong, they technically haven't broken any rules, because there is no rule that explicitly outlaws it. Hence, the FIA cannot penalise them for it. They will likely outlaw it for Hungary, and move on, unless one of the teams protests.

Well, I kind of expected that. Whether they've actually broken the rules or not only they'll truely know but they live to fight another race

Because they haven't actually broken a rule. There is no rule in the rulebook that says that what Red Bull is doing is illegal. Since there is no rule, the FIA can do nothing but amend the rules after the race.

I think they should change it from FIA to RIA, redbull international assistance, instead of how it used to be Ferrari.

Well one theory could be viewership, with last season being reasonably one sided it would often make for boring viewing. Which would make people turn over, find something else to watch and not turn back. However I think that's a void argument for this season due to the huge amount of variety in the start. Maybe sponsors starting complaining that they wanted some structure and the FIA has picked Redbull and Ferrari as the two horses to go for the championship.
 
All of which assumes there is a massive conspiracy and ongoing corruption within the sport that nobody has noticed for years despite being so widespread.

I don't think it is preferential treatment, just incompetence and a lack of balls to make an example out of anybody caught flouting the rules.

Yes, I do give them detention.

Well, not actually detention - I have to follow the school's behavior and discipline guidelines, and talking in class generally warrants a warning for the first offence, moving the person to another desk for a second offence, sending them outside for the third offence, and sending them to the head teacher if it happens again (it usually doesn't).

When the FIA stripped Lewis Hamilton of his win at Spa in 2008, there was an uproar because Hamilton had not actually broken any of the rules as they were written. Now that the FIA has elected not to prosecute Red Bull precisely because they did not break any of the rules as they were written, it's incompetence and a lack of balls?

It never ceases to amaze me how fans can be so contradictory and then attack the FIA for the selfsame problem.
