Not sure if I saw correctly, but it looked like there's a pretty big branch on the main straight. Quite far from the racing line but still problematic

Just saw it again, still there. Just after the last kink, on the right side of the track
 
Odd that they're not getting someone to go get it, the grid is still somewhat tightly packed.

Norris really needs a safety car of some sort to get a cheap pit stop, if he wants to move up and get some decent points.

Yep, no rules governing that. All they have to do is keep left at pit entry on the straight.
