1/4 mile times, 0-60 times and lap times have no meaning or bearing at all in terms of the accuracy of a physics engine,. never have and never will.

One of the most commonly posted videos on here to support how accurate GT5 was (based on lap times) was a comparison video at the 'ring, the problem was that it was done prior to 2.0 (and the major physics changes it brought). Now if it was evidence or proof of accuracy that then raises the question of why was 2.0 needed (or GT6 for that matter).

The physics engine of a title could model lateral-g too high and longitudinal grip too low, and still get lap times similar to reality (that's without addressing how easy laptimes are to fix), yet the performance of the car would be wrong in every stage of the track.

Your also totally ignoring the effect that tyre brand, compound, humidity, temperature and the drivers ability has in this, all variables that can cause differences in laptimes of multiple seconds, let alone a comparisons between reality and a sim.
