*shrug* The game looks pretty beautiful to me, so far, either way. So most complaints I have about the visuals is mostly nit picking.
To me, the consistency of the graphics that FM4 will most likely have will be most important. That's something you can't see in pictures, though...

Agreed and at this stage we have nothing else to debate anyway really other than looks.

The looks doesn't irk me as much as it does others that's all.

Fixed. And even the phototravel differences are not as much as you see in Autovista vs gameplay graphics.

Have to disagree here.

Just saw the FM4 video game play looks nothing like Autovista Its cool to me though, long as the physics are better cant wait to play the demo.

@ Zero I have to agree with you completely Photo travel is much more closer to the actual GT5 game play, then Autovista mode and FM4 game play.

Race replays are closer to GT5 gameplay, not phototravel. Phototravel bumps stuff up so much and does model swaps. I'd pin phototravel in GT5 to be on par with Autovista in FM4. In both games neither's quality are represented in the game. Close but the race replays is what's close, not the phototravel or the apparent autovista mode.

I must be the only one here who doesn't really care about clawed hands, White wheels and cartoony graphics.

Give me all that as long as the gameplay is good.

You graphics junkies put so much pressure on developers to get things to look perfect, other parts of the game suffer.

Visually smooth and no frame tears is more important.

I'm not knocking you white wheels and clawed hand types though. Just not that important to me.

Graphics are very important, especially when the competition is setting the standard. Same with physics. I think GT5 is more guilty of putting pressure on developers than the fans.
But Forza 4 seems to be coming together nicely. The new lighting system is welcomed. Kinect head tracking works good (from videos), Autovista is fresh and will def satisfy. So the small things don't matter much when we have a lot to look forward to:)

Oh graphics are important to sales I will agree.

When your average Joe walks into the store the first thing he does is look at the back of the box. Then the price.

Who cares if it plays well.

It always cracks me up when GT5 is reffered to as "setting the standard". If anything, it sets the premium.

I really hope that people have an open mind with the game though. Especially in the physics department. While I do want the physics to improve and get closer to reality what I don't want is a GT5 clone. Totally 100% realistic physics is somewhere in the middle. Neither game has a lock on that yet. Some opinions sway GT5's way others FM3's way so here's hoping for better than GT5's physics. The thing is if they do come with physics that are better than GT5 I wonder if GT5 users will be able to appreciate them. What I've been reading some people think GT5 is a total representation of real life to the T.

EDIT: Mind you my arguments are wheel use only

I have to disagree. I would much rather have GT5 physics than what they had in FM3. Can it be better than GT5? Of course but I would definitely be satisfied with that.

I have to disagree.
All he's saying is that people shouldn't use GT5 as the yard stick to measure FM4 by.

And I have to agree with that. GT5 isn't the be-all, end-all game in terms of physics. A lot of people will use it as the yard stick, though. "This isn't like GT5, so it's unrealistic." I can guarantee you that a lot of people will act exactly like that, completely ignoring the fact that there are things that GT5 doesn't do right.

I don't care if they are not like GT5 physics I just want better physics then that video showed of the Enzo. I want to feel a rush like I do when I play GT5, it does not have to feel like GT5. I'm so excited to test out the new Physics in FM4. 👍

The video was von FM3, right?

From what most people who played the game (like Inside Sim Racing) so far said, they've made pretty big improvements with FM4...

If the name of the game was "Hotlapping Cornucopia" then I might like GT5's physics but in a racing game, and all I do is race, I prefer FM3 physics more than GT5's. I just do.

looks more like overgrown weeds but I see what you mean.

I doubt the wind would play into the physics.

I doubt that they're using some sort of modeled wind to move the grass, it's just animated to make the scenery look more alife. I doubt I'll be even noticing that, but it's a nice touch.

The wheel on both games is good, but GT5 is more precise imo. The physics (all aids off) makes the cars more a challenge to control, plus they all handle differently. Forza, on the other hand, seems that most cars of the same class/displacement handle the same, but with the new Pirelli data, hopefully they use that to help "feel" the road like what GT5 accomplished (with the wheel).

Anybody noticed the grass was moving in this video? @ 1:45

PS2 Ridge Racer games had moving grass ages ago. Everyone else is just behind on the times. :p

t.o.

Agreed. Fm3 has better physics so hopefully just improving upon those.

The physics were great until you started tuning.

I love me some tuning in FM3. I wonder what tuning options, if any, we will see added to FM4.

What else could they possibly add to the tuning options other than Boost Control on Turbocharged and Supercharged cars?

Improved ECM control for starters. Fine tuning of aero on all sides.

I have no idea what you guys are listening too. That definitely sounds like an external sound. If it was under the bonnet you would hear less exhaust and more of the intake sucking air which you dont hear at all.

You beat me to the punch ZR1. I was just about to ask if they were listening to the same video. It's indeed exterior sound.

Well, of course there's exhaust sound! They recorded that, too...

What I mean is, the intake / engine sound they recorded is represented almost as-is, so it has that signature "close-mic'd" sound, even though it's mixed to "far away" volume levels and blended with the exhaust - it just doesn't fit. FM has historically had this problem, whilst NFS and PGR hasn't. So, hopefully those were pre-Bizarre Creations sounds and that will be addressed in the final game.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree then. I honestly don't want them to change it before the end game, unless it's possible to make it better.

Haha who cares its ten times better than what Gt did with their lifeless tracks. Only 20 tracks look really good in GT Even the trees are now Moving in FM4. THE TREESS!!!!

It does indeed look better than the tracks in GT5 - at least from what I've seen so far. All I'm saying is, I haven't got the eye for these details

But accuracy should be their top priority with the tracks not trees blowing in the wind unless they have track accuracy.(By track accuracy I only mean the ring as that bothers me the most.)
