So seems like T10´s focus with cars and tracks is on the EU and US market... The absolutely right choice!

:)

Anyone who's not living in a cave for the past 5 years would see that 40 models of the Skyline and 30 models of the Integra would not grab industry headlines and be a player magnet. Thankfully, these T10 developers live in the suburbs of Washington state, and respond to gamers' and market demands.

So, er, wasn't it said some time ago that Forza 4 won't feature "dynamic time of day", rather "a few specific, pre-calculated times of day"? Granted, that doesn't rule out night-time, just any real dynamic changes, unless they're being deliberately coy. :trouble:

With that in mind, "any time of day" could just mean in theory, and the game will have (say) morning, noon and night - pretty much all times of day, right? I mean, who'll notice the difference between 2 pm and 3 pm?

Image-based lighting doesn't automatically open up dynamic scenery lighting (not without certain "optimisations" to the now necessarily dynamic "image" in question), which is probably the real issue - I imagine they want to keep their shadows looking purty, too ;)

Thanks Chris!

Drag racing confirmed.

Alps = 6 circuits
Hockenheim = 4 circuits
Top Gear = 10 circuits

And hotspitta, thank you for the orgasmic photos!

New forums might be out today or later this week, according to the Turn 10 Community Manager:

Also be on the lookout for New Forums, maybe today...maybe later this week...but they are coming.

I know, right! They have to be some of the worst forums (layout) on the internet. I imagine they can only get better.

Hotspitta needs a 101 course on posting pics!

They need to think about implementing working headlights for those almost dark races. It's pretty damn dark in some of those B-roll vids and you know cars would not be racing without headlights or at least running lights.

Agreed. I noticed that too. It may have not been night but it looked pretty nice.

Yeah, lights or not that is some pretty nice footage there. I'm impressed with that. Imagine going through the Ring's woods with that kind of darkness. Some areas would have to be damn near night dark in there. Man this game can't get here fast enough. Let's hope illuminated lights are a surprise they're holding on to.

Great updates, thanks for keeping the thread going lads.
T10 really do seem to of upped the ante and are taking the Franchise much further forward in several good ways.

Being that the R35 GT-R is the only 'Skyline' announced, I'm pretty sure they've got plenty more up their sleeve. They've already confirmed a few JDM and asian market vehicles.

A few are ok ;) But not ok is if 50% of the game content is japanese stuff...

No. Turn10 is from America, so 70% of the cars will be from America. PD is from Japan, so 70% of the cars in GT5 are from Japan. And Codemasters is from Europe so 70% of the cars in Dirt/Grid are from Europe. Interesting how that works, huh?

But FM3 only had something like 20% American cars. That number maybe be inaccurate but I know for sure its far less than 50%.

I don´t think that 70% of the cars in FM4 will be US cars! If you think that is the right marketing strategie, apply for an job in the PD studios...

628 / 1049 according to mygranturismo.net. That is quite a lot. About 60%! :ouch: (46% counting only the Premiums)

Oh well, it's probably a hang-over from the '90s Japanese car-culture showcase that was GT2, what with all those minor variations. Then again, the USA is ranked second with more than Italy and France combined. Spare a thought for those other countries with one car, or even no cars, represented.

It's a shame that T10 don't go into the more obscure stuff from US car history. Then again, I doubt too much of that would be particularly fun to drive either.

If you read some of the Ferrari bios they usually have a japanese designer or hand in the making, so maybe thats why they even decided to put Ferrari in the game?

Hell!! :dunce:

I thought about ~400 japanese cars but that! I think 200 out of 1000 would be ok I think...

Agreed. It is terrible takes too long for a post to get shown and the lay-out is just plain ugly.

Thats beautiful. Can't wait to throw a NFS livery and drive around the 'ring.

recreate the 24hrs of Nurburgring

Guys, check this Video out. They used simulation steering and all assists off. AI and physics look really really great!

Hint to anyone attending Gamesom with a video camera:

PLEASE ALSO GET SOME CLOSE UP FOOTAGE OF THE FANATEC WHEELS! 👍

PIC not working.
*shrug* Works well for me.

If anything, T10 displayed a slight bias towards European cars. Not that that's suprising, given that there are far more European countries than there are American or (gasp) Japanese ones :dopey:
I'd have to dig up the car list for Grid, but I'm fairly sure they also had quite a decent percantage of American cars. In fact, I can't think of a developer that shows as much bias as PD, at all. So, yeah, it's interesting how you believe it works and how it actually does :sly:

Found these also...
2nd one is brief but shows various things at the "Play Day Event"
Great footage. The Subaru appeared to be a lot less forgiving than it did in previous Forza games. 👍

Yes indeed the cars seem more involving dont they. Look how the BMW seems to move in its suspension on the Nurburgring F1 track video above.
