Please, don't start bringing that countdown stuff here. The staff already showed they weren't fond of a thread dedicated to it.

How about no for the sake of this thread?

Whatever you discussed with Pupik obviously had no effect on his decision as the other thread is still closed. Bringing it over here isn't going to do this thread any favors if he wasn't fond of it beforehand.

The thread dedicated to it is still closed b/c the lack of content, so it looks like they do to a point. I just don't want to see that thread brought into this one.

I was just trying to lighten things up a bit - I like the hype of a release as do others.

We have historically not permitted countdown threads (for any game nor event), unless there's pertinent information to go with it. Since a news thread for FM4 exists, there's no purpose for this thread, which is a essentially a form of off-topic slowchatting.

If you feel I've handled this unjustly, feel free to contact an admin or discuss with Jordan, if you wish.

Hi Pupik,

I was just wondering if you would re-consider the closing of the Forza 4 countdown thread. There was a thread for GT5 that was exact same except it wasn't closed down at all.

I have been trying to add to the thread as many times as possible, I cant see what justified the locking/closing of the thread. Especially for the Forza fans on this site was contributing to it regularly over the past week, I wouldnt have called it barren of content at all.

The thread has been open since Jul 03 2011 - why in the last month till release close it?

Hope you can see fit to reconsider.

If the lack of content was the reason for closing it, posting a picture or two here every day as we near the release doesn't seem all that harmful... I mean, there's been worse cases of offtopic.
That's just personal opinion, though :D

I don't have to see what they think, when it's crystal clear that it's a posting style a staff member does not permit because it typically does not contain worthwhile content. If people want to start making countdown posts of nothing but pictures though, go for it, then. I have not once said I have the power to do anything about it. I have only asked nicely for it not to be done so that Pupik or whomever else does not have to say anything twice.

I don't like calling out people but the thread closure was a jobsworth in my eyes.

Ok it's not important and was only a bit of fun and comradery amongst members.

Don't thinks Mods will overrule Mods. Or Admin for that matter.

Scaff never seemed to mention a problem with the thread and has been great around here.

As long as their consistent I don't care.

Best not to mention how long it is to release date eh fella's. 8^).

Ok maybe lightening up was the wrong choice of words, I just wanted to add to the hype.

I posted mine and Pupik's PM's to let others see what was said - you know to be honest as others had asked in regards to why the other thread was closed.

I can see where you are coming from but the way you responded to my post was uncalled for, infact if you hadn't responded in that way I would have been more than happy to scrap the idea of posting it in here if others felt the same.

If anyone was going to "attract another visit from the staff" it would be from the way you tried to start an argument (or thats how it looked to me anyway).

Pupik shut down the thread because a news thread exists and he didn't see the point in a dedicated thread because historically they don't allow them and they are not relevant updates.

I'm on iPhone and being an idiot can't seem to find the news thread.

I wont be posting it again, trying to add to the good spirit of a game launch is clearly frowned upon here.

I couldnt see a news thread either I just assumed he meant the General Discussion thread.

I was under the impression that this is the FM4 news thread... Granted, the title might be a bit different, but that's what the thread has been about, it seems...

Ya know I'm almost sure the GT one was closed when the game was delayed.
I'm pretty sure it was re-opened after confirmation of another date.
Don't take that as fact mind, that's going by my foggy memory.
It was definitely closed after release date though.

I thought a member reported the thread. I didn't think a mod decided to close it without complaints from members.
The forum is built on members for members.

Never had a problem before on this site and I love GTPlanet.
Left a sour taste though.

Over nothing.

My initial reply to you saying don't like it ignore it wasn't meant to be harsh - I informed you after I said that I had spoke to Pupik regarding it, therefore I felt this was the right place to post it and didnt see why you were bothering.

I mean if you dont like someones post why complain when you can just ignore it?

It wasn't exactly going to cause any harm.
 
How bout, just can it both of you. Hostility will get this thread closed, not one member posting a photo in reference to the countdown to the game coming out. The other thread was closed because the mod thought it was devoid of content, what in gods name makes you think the same will happen in a thread that's had alot of content discussed in it?...
 
I really don't want to sit here & repeat what I've already posted. I never said I didn't like it, I only asked to not start posting it as it was apparent to me, that it was seen as off topic chit chat by a mod; hence a reason for its closure. But as said above, I also never made it out as if I had any power to stop you.

So, if you want to post it anyway, go for it. The mod in question has already said if you're not happy with his decision either, to talk with someone else about it.

I haven't confused a thing. I see why Pupik closed the thread & out of consideration for this thread, gave my own view. It shouldn't have gotten as in-depth as it did & I apologize for those posts.

As for my original post, that's your opinion & I disagree. So, please, keep your own advice.
 
There was NO reason to close the countdown thread. It was not a violation of AUP, nobody was forced to view it or read it, and some posters were happy to have the thread and post count down images (like was done with GT5 without issue). That is an epic fail move.

That said, I am with McLaren (rare I know), and we don't need to bring it into this thread.

Anyone know if we'll get GT3 cars or is that another license EA is keeping to itself?
 
The cars themselves seem to depend on the manufacturers & their agreements (as evident with the current Porsche issue & lack of any ALMS cars despite T10's ALMS partnership).

I believe the only way around that would be to center the game completely around ALMS or whichever series the Porsche GT cars are involved in. That then would probably just require the permission of the FIA/ACO rather than each individual manufacturer. It's what GTR/2 did to gain the entire 2004/2005 season teams/cars (although manufacturer involvement within' the FIA GT is close to none).
 
At first when the porsche thing was announced I wasnt bothered at all but the more I think about it the more its sinking in, I used a lot of porsches in FM3.

Can I also ask do many of you use public lobbies? I remember FM3 removing features from FM2 online that everyone was annoyed at but I find myself just playing in private races online with friends. Was just wondering if any of that was changing again? or had even been announced?

Supposedly the public custom lobbies are back. Will do very little for me as I find public lobbies the worse in any game. Lack of Porsche really hurt for me though :(

Knowing EA, they're probably keeping that one to themselves.

Nothing would please me more than to have GT3 & GT1 cars in Forza, but I don't think it's going to happen. Perhaps Turn 10 could included 'street', unbranded versions of the GT cars (like they have done with the DTM cars in FM3) so that the community can then create the real liveries.

That would be great.
 
I just realized that OEM packages could mean turning, say, a normal Camaro into a Grand Am Camaro, or a stock Ford Fiesta into a Rallycross Fiesta. I is excited about it.
